One Piece General Discussion: Elbaph

Keep it up. The story just gets better and better as you go along. And I still recommend the YouTube channel that I mentioned earlier if you want some good literary analysis for each storyarc. 🙏🙂

This is kind of random, but I found out that Saul is still alive (which is definitely a huge spoiler for me since I'm 500 chapters out from that reveal, but whatever), and I really, really hate that. I knew Oda was bad at death, but now even the flashback/Uncle Ben characters can't stay dead?! Now I'm half expecting Whitebeard, Ace (though, Sabo exists, yes, I got spoiled on that too, but I kind of expected that one), Bell-mere, Hiriluk, etcetera to come back at some point!

And I found out that Oda said in an interview that he hates when stories revive dead characters, so why does he do it so much?!

(Spoiler alert from recent arcs) Now that I actually think about it, from what I remember and have seen in animes, only One Piece (and kinda Vinland saga and Hellsing)… has taken direct references from the Bible (Not just about the evil and good aspect)

Like Kuma has a bible and prays to nika (I think) Nika, symbols the sun and is pure white (same way Jesus transformed into in the Bible; Matthew 17:1), Nika being people’s hope is also the same in the Bible, the water rising in the op planet and Noah’s ship existence

I wonder why Oda chose this direction and how it will affect his work 🤔… in the beginning it was just a small reference with Kuma holding the bible but now it has become kinda the main aspect in Oda’s story. Though I doubt the main storyline will have a similar conclusion but it’s still very interesting how Oda is leading his work compared to every other anime from what I’ve seen

One Piece has taken an insane turn from pre timeskip via the smalls hints placed everywhere and for me, has just gotten better and better especially in terms of hype which is an insane accomplishment being able to go on for this long… the newest arc is only in the beginning phase and is already dropping insane lore compared to the last arc. I wanna see Oda be way more imaginative and diverse especially when he’s introduced “those” new abilities and stated that Luffy’s newest power is just the beginning for him

Easily how and why it’s my favorite fiction of all time

He doesn’t actually revive them… just gives a lot of unknowns if they did truly die or not

Me personally, after viewing the story and how that still affects the current story and decisions, I view it as an overall good thing

You might change your mind when your caught up but 🤷‍♂️, that’s how I viewed Saul’s situation

(Oda did state why he doesn’t like killing characters)

Yeah, I should've worded that better.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'll have to wait and see. I'm sure I will be happy in the moment since I love Robin as a character, and her being happy would make me happy, but I don't know if I'll still like it.

That's true.

Saul was not killed, just very badly injured, and required a long time to recover, which makes sense if you think about the full context later, but it is best if you just continue reading without worrying too much about it. 🙏❤️

Yes, and I really hope that Oda stays true to his vision, even if some people on YouTube figure out what he is planning. (I read once that he will change the ending if somebody figures it out.) There are so many theories out there that somebody will almost inevitably figured out the alternative ending as well anyway, so it is better for Oda to use his best available option instead. 🙏❤️

Was browsing some profiles and noticed that some profiles hadn't been updated with the latest changes. Oden hasn't been updated this year, so he's presumably meant to be properly scaled to Zoro. Likewise, the Scabbards who fought Kaido are supposed to scale to half his value via Advanced Armament, so they should also be updated to match this (which I'm presuming was supposed to include Izou, but he hasn't been updated in a while). Since these are all accepted scaling that hadn't been properly updated after the results of the scaling CRT Kachon made and the thread KingTempest made involving Blackbeard's Tremors, would it be alright to apply changes without a CRT as long as the threads are linked, even if this results in Tier changes?
If they were not meant to scale, then please inform me of what the scaling actually is, because right now the Verse Page's scaling notes are a bit wrong and idk what parts are where the verse page is wrong and what part is the profiles being wrong.

Just make sure to link to the relevant content revision threads in the edit summary box for each respective affected wiki page please, to avoid misunderstandings. 🙏

Actually, just to make sure, are Inu and Neko meant to have the same rating in Sulong as they are with their Advanced Armament? Is Izou supposed to scale with regular haki or does he actually have Advanced Armament? And do the rest of the Scabbards all have Advanced Armament (cause I'll update that as well if that's the case)

Yes

Keep everything the same, just change the values. There's no need to change anything else.

Okay, changes all done. If there's anything wrong, just tell me (I also fixed Apoo and Luffy due to their statistics value still being 17.25 Teratons on their Island+ keys). Only other 'additions' were a "Higher with Advanced Armament Haki" on some durability sections to match with other ones since they had been applied extremely inconsistently.

I also scrapped of the "with Sulong" since the key in question is their sulong form, so everything they do is with Sulong automatically (I can add that back if you really want, but it seems extremely redundant.)

The new value is 94.181 Exatons. This is based on the old values apparently being half of Kaido's base value. His new base is 188.362 Exatons, so I just cut that in half.

So, idle curiousities....

How did Zunesha get to the seas outside of Onigashima?

Isn't Wano atop a towering mountain past a waterfall leading into roaring seas?

Was this mammoth of an elephant really so dedicated to his devotion to his deity that he literally climbed a mountain to be the super-heavyweight hypeman heralding the return of Joy Boy?

Zunesha was outside of Wano, not outside of Onigashima.

My bad, I must've misremembered.

Thought it would be a display of dedication that, IMHO, is fitting of One Piece's style, to have Zunesha scale Wano to do that. Then again, perhaps it's for the better. Zuneshha is considerate of those living where Zou is, right?

Shoutouts to his range, I suppose, though, lol.

Oh & also, Zunesha somehow showed up on time; He's huge & slow, right?

& wasn't he sentenced to "wander the world"? Yet wandering, he ended up at Wano just in time for Joy Boy's awakening?
& if it wasn't by random chance, how did he get close to Wano in anywhere near a reasonable timeframe?
Luffy collapsed, then very shortly after, the drums of liberation started & Joy Boy awakened, no? If Zunesha was alerted when Luffy collapsed or when Joy Boy awakened, how could Zunesha have gotten near to Wano so soon after it happened? Like, in the scope of minutes. Is he not normally far from Wano, on a huge planet with huge seas??

Is there a general timeframe for the Egghead additions for the verse, or is that still "let's wait a bit more"?

What's the state of the verse outta' curiosity?

There is a thread on that, but it's still unresolved and Kachon's been really busy, so it'll be a while before the debate picks up again.

I wonder: Kid Luffy, Ace & Sabo were forced into the care of Dadan & her gang of mountain bandits.
They aren't always on friendly terms.

OP Wiki says:

Dadan is the mountain bandit boss of the Dadan Family, and has command over the gang. Their reputation is quite notorious, as according to Garp, they committed more crimes than the stars. She, along with Ace, were powerful enough to defeat the infamous pirate Bluejam. She managed to hold a young, enraged Ace down and subdue him, despite being injured. She was also able to physically injure Garp, though that was most likely because the Vice Admiral voluntarily did not defend himself.

Weapons

Dadan's weapon appears to be a long handled axe, which she is fairly proficient with, able to hold back a powerful captain such as Bluejam in one blow. While she had attacked Garp, she used a wooden club as a weapon.

So.... If Curly Dadan & her whole gang of mountain bandits were bloodlusted, could they win in a fight against Kid Luffy, Ace & Sabo?
Even in their youth, Luffy, Ace & Sabo were strong, too, but strong enough?
Dadan & her gang lack profiles, but if they weren't so lacking, could probably make a versus thread for this.

Sorry if anyone minds me asking this.

As much as I do appreciate One Piece's animation & comedy, even in moments like this....

I'm guessing you don't have any idea yourself?

I'd assume it'd be pretty even, since Kid Luffy, Ace & Sabo are Wall Level, yet Dadan can apparently hold Kid Ace down, & has at least some history of activity & reputation.

Still, thanks for answering.

Sorry for any bother.

Dadan is weaker than Bluejam but somewhat relative to ace… I see ace having the higher attacking power and overall better fighter between them tho

Ace and Dadan vs Bluejam situation (I don’t know much about what happened in manga tho)

So she plus her gang probably wouldn't be able to hold down Luffy, Ace AND Sabo?
But any 1 of the 3 individually would probably be manageable?

Okay. Thank you.

Did Dadan look like that when she was younger? 🙏
