The Revenant Marvel Comics Discussion Thread

Also, the new Gwenpool series has had a pretty good start with the first issue.
I'm still not fond of (seemingly) bringing back 616 Gwen for the nth time, but everything else looks promising.
The plot, so far, is enticing, the art pretty good and the dialogues as well.

I dreaded a new Gwenpool product for how fragile her character is, as she has to be handled carefully to neither spoil the character of what makes her, while still keeping her character, abilities and adventures not repetitive or dull.

However, they've been a good job so far. It's just the first issue and future will tell, but I'm positively impressed and hopeful.

Any new absurd feats for the character ? Just curious.

Not really absurd considering her previous feats but she made herself really big (by abusing the art perspective) and stomped Fin Fang Foom, and then was knocked by a random ray from a gun of some fodder. Mixed bag as you can see.
It does make sense technically, Gwenpool's quite situational at the end, and she and the Deathloks made it clear there's some metanarrative shenanigan going on, which also what canceled out Spider-Man's plot armor (which Gwenpool herself refers to) and has powered up Fin Fang Foom (which they describe as "supercharhed").

Adding, considering that now spoilers have been let out, that Gwenpool ******* with perspective to gigantify herself could be a callback to Evil Gwen doing the same in the first volume thanks to her greater experience with metanarrative abilities.
This may mean that Good Gwenpool is reaching a similar level of expertise and I find it to be neat character development.

Wonder who would win in a fight, Squirrel Girl or Gwenpool? Not in the sense of us Powerscaling nerds with analyzing their feats and whatnot, but what the writers would actually do.

Both of their shticks seem to revolve around plot slop, and although Gwen is obviously the far better user of it, SG does have a far better track record.

I would say if there was no interference duo to meta reasons or any bias Gwenpool should win,

Finally found the quote that confirmed the intention that Franklin Richards could've destroyed the Multiverse during Fantastic Four Volume 3 issue 7, and that's why the Captain Britain Corps interferred. It's in Marvel Encyclopedia New Edition TPB (Part 1), under Captain Britain Corps.

FINALLY. I knew the quote existed for years as a friend found it for me, but he cut it out and gave it to me, and never told me where he got it from. It was so frustrating knowing Marvel spelled this out but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I found this guide book of All New All Different about Iron Man Model 51, and mentions some interesting info about the armor.

She needs her profile updated, isn't the Staff now Low 1-A?
Also "Planet Level" for fighting Daimon Hellstrom also looks weird

Dormammu would be 1-A actually, so it'd be a 1-A upgrade.

Speaking of if the upgrades go through Amped by the Cosmic Nexus would actually be High 1-A+ since that entire amp is in DeMatteis' Cosmology and it'd scale to DeMatteis' Eternity.

Can someone help me out? I was researching to make Moira MacTaggert's page, and read the Sins of Sinister event. In it, sorry - spoilers, Sinister-mutants do a lot, more specifically destroy Asgard, control Hells, spirit of the Legion escapes into higher realms, etc. Originally, I was under the impression that Moira's power is only Low 2-C (as someone mentioned before), affecting only timelines as it was stated, but clearly affecting and resetting magical dimensions should qualify for a different tier, correct? Because Gods operate on mythic time and such?

Based on this, the Model Prime has access to the abilities of the Phoenix Buster, so, 1-A base Iron Man?
Maybe something like

"5-B normally (Clashed equally with Captain Marvel, although he was ultimately weaker. Harmed Fin Fang Foom with his repulsors), possibly Low 1-C, up to 1-A (Stated to possess the abilites of all his previous armors, including the Hulkbuster and Phoenix Buster)."

Are you referring to this Sandbox?

I personally was too confused while reading the appearances of Dominions to understand most of the lore surrounding Moira, but if the Moira Engine Timelines were depicted as similar in nature to entire alternate earths, then it's flat-out 1-A. To play it safe, anything that significantly affects mystic realms like Hell Dimensions should usually be High 1-B by default.

No (also, there are 2 Enigma snadboxes?), in Galacta's crt I made a while ago, timelines by default were stated (by Asura I think) to be Low 2-C, and Moira's were mentioned.

Well, I simply don't know how significant are we talking here. Originally I was just thinking that her power bypasses Acausality🤷‍♂️

Quick Question, I know this happened a while ago but when was every street tier lowered from MHS+ to Hypersonic.

It does kind of make sense why but I cant find a forum post about it.

I am not sure how supportive the evidence is, but would the implication of it affecting Celestial be enough? I am not sure how, but Sinister was specifically unwilling to go through the Judgement Day again, implying the Progenitor would be acting as it did, despite the latter's change of heart.

Pretty sure Progneitor is depicted Narratively as being unable to be stopped even by all of Krakoa , including Legion (and the Omega Level Mutants but we're still decided how tf to handle what Omega Level Mutants are) , so if Legion's upgrade goes through (which it should, his peak is at the absolute bare minimum 1-A) , then Progneitor would scale to that version of Legion, and Celestials would as a result.

Am I a moron or am I a fool? Aren’t Celestials already 1-A?

Who do you guys prefer as the Avengers magical member: Scarlet Witch or Doctor Strange?

Based not just on abilities and powers, but relation to the others team members, chemistry with them, etc
Doctor Strange IMO.

I’ve started to warm up to her as of late, but Marvel never really made Wanda take accountability or even get punished for House of M because Marvel shelved her for years, so that kind of soured her in my mind. Additionally, I find Strange to be just a more fun character to read and interact with fellow heroes.

I remember Strange being in the team around 2018 during that run with She Hulk and everything, but then he stopped appearing.
Were those issues good? Was he a good member / did he have good interactions with the rest of the Avengers?

.. More like I'm the fool/moron. Genuinely forgot everyone cosmically important got buffed earlier. I also forgot most of my feats aren't really usable until the revision happens to upgrade the True Form Abstracts lol. Can't really argue High 1-A if the only one who scales to that is TOAA, and unless the next FF issue does something insane that's not happening anytime soon.

Also Doctor Strange. I perceive the Scarlet Witch as a shallow and boring characters who only serves the purpose of being a random overpowered female godlike power fantasy and not much else. 🙏

I wouldn’t say she’s that bad. Her 2024 run was pretty good, and was a nice return to form alongside her and her brothers run that same year. Though, I do have to agree with you that her power can feel a bit bullshit at times.

Just finished reading Ghost Rider vs Galactus which was released today, and it's not well-received among Ghost Rider fans, that I'll say.

The art and dialogue were amazing... and that's it. Ghost Rider and Galactus had an epic fight scene, only it lasts 2 pages, then Galactus just ignores the effects of the penance stare, gets bored, and leaves. This is how they adapt one of the most famous showdowns in Marvel cartoons.
You wanna know what's crazier? All of you are aware of the endless debate over if it's consistent for the Penance Stare to fail against people who don't regret anything. There have been just as many one-off feats and anti-feats for either stance. Well in this comic, Watcher himself confirms that it failed on Galactus because he has no regrets, and he goes into this whole monologue about how Galactus can't help it since it's his cosmic role, just to build extra emphasis. Ghost Rider himself calls it BS, and directly complains about how the Penance Stare failed on Thanos and Punisher in the past for that reason, but Watcher doesn't care and eventually just gets rid of Johnny. At this point, as much as it sounds like Plot-Induced Stupidity, it seems like this is really how Marvel intends for the Penance Stare to work. This whole issue is a major upset for Ghost Rider fans.

By the way, in the latest Immortal Thor issue:
Loki used the Eternity Mask to kill Thor by stabbing him from behind. It was strongly hinted that Loki did so in order to use Thor as a blood sacrifice to pay off the magic debts for their vastly increased narrative magic power.

And I also think that "The Watcher"/Straczynski used Marvel's/John Byrne's traditional absolutely morally abhorent and awfully "conveniently" artificially constructed complete bullshit "logic" for Galactus in order to rationalise and justify supremacist social Darwinism taken to systematic serial-genocide degrees.

Straczynski also went overboard with attempting to whitewash the Hulk in a previous part of this series, while conveniently ignoring all of the horrible things he has done over the years, including starting out as a blatant allegory for Oppenheimer developing more powerful nuclear weapons that will almost inevitably eventually be used against millions of innocent civilians and that greatly help with keeping tyrants in power across this world. 🤨
