Cradle Series Discussion Thread

Looks like I've just seen another novel to add to my reading list. Is their a page that explains their power system?
There is but the overall verse technically has a lot of seperate power systems

Here's one of the main ones though

Threshold Released Today

Basically an Anthology containing stories set within the Cradle Setting both before and after the ascension of Lindon

I've read some of it but haven't finished the book fully and so far it's pretty good

Done with Threshold

My favorite scene -

How Waybound Should Have Ended:

“Ascend or Eithan kills you,” Lindon said to the remaining Monarchs. “Finally,” Emriss sighed. “Fine,” Northstrider grumbled. “Yeah, get out of here!” Larian gloated. “Do we have to?” Sha Miara whined. “Speaking of Eithan,” Malice said, “is he single, or ?”

Lmao

So in the iteration of Cradle...

Do actual alternate timelines exist? Or are the branching futures Sages and Monarchs see with their future sight just possibilities? I guess this question also extends to iterations in general thinking about...

Also...this is more of a site question...but if they are just possible futures ( that extinguish once a choice has been made and then a new infinite set take their place ) does that make Iterations 2-A still? Or it's only Low 2-C still?

It probably varies depends on the Iteration, some have WOG stating they do like Fathom but I'm still looking for a particular statement I remember will saying on stream where he expressly says that it varies

I see

So for the iterations such as Fathom that DO have alternate timelines...how does that work for certain things? Like...we know The Way is above time right?

So let's say Cradle DOES have alternate timelines...does that mean Suriel only visited the Lindon of the canon timeline? Or an alternate version of Suriel visited the alternate Lindon for their own thing? Or since Judges are technically above time now does that make her omnipresent?

It also makes one wonder...if The Way is above ALL time what would happen if say an alternate Lindon ascended as well...does that mean canon Lindon would run into an alternate version of himself...or each timeline has it's own "Way" and Lindon ascended to the heavens of that timeline...

I am sorry this thought just came to me a day ago and it's been plaguing my mind ever since

I hope what I am saying makes sense 😭

Some info from Will's stream more than a month ago:

- Power system between Cradle and Fathom don't match but Fathom's Combat Arts comes close. When it comes to firepower Raion without his Divine Titan is a high-level/scaling Archlord, though he can still be physically affected unlike a Hearld. With his mech, only Monarchs can match him, as he is a threat to planetary bodies. Monarchs have more versatile powers like manipulating time and controlling minds, and could teleport Raion out of his mech.
- The D'Niss are Class 2 Fiends. A Class 1 Fiend has difficulty entering an iteration as stable as Fathom on their own, they need someone like the Mad King to invade. What allowed the D'Niss as a Class 2 Fiends to invade and get defeated is that their power comes from spreading, and they eventually grow stronger to take over the universe they become a Class 1 Fiend. Since the Last Horizon defeated them very early, they didn't get strong beyond eating stars.
- Fathom's equivalent of Sage is an Archmage. In Cradle, Sages grow strong enough to exert their weight upon the Iteration. In Fathom, Archmages borrow some of the authority of the Aether, which has the highest Authority in the Iteration, and an Archmage's specialty can be considered a mini-Icon.
- The Zenith Devices were not originally conscious, even if they had AI and computer programming. After being created with magic, they developed personalities/souls reflecting how they were used. Their personality is why they have spotty memory of the Zenith era, and previous rivalry is why they don't want to cooperate with each other though part of it is a built-in safety.
- An Iphone won't become Aethertech by being brought to Fathom, but it can develop mystic properties from interacting with the Aether; though there is not much practical difference between a magical enhanced Iphone from Aethertech. If an Iphone engineer was brought to Fathom, he can get magically inspired to create Aethertech Iphone that calls across the galaxy with no signal.
- The Cradle animatic is scheduled to enter post-production in mid-August, and premier in November 1. The directors took initiative in making bloobers.
- Timeline of iteration don't sync up perfectly (though it isn't something ridiculous like two years vs gajillion billion years, or living an entire lifetimes in one iteration when time hasn't passed in another), small differences exist like passage of 2 years vs 3 years, and 5 years vs 6 years. It is similar to Territories in Traveler's Gate having different timelines. The different Territories in Traveler's Gate are gradually drifting towards having the same timeline of the central Iteration. In the future, tools will be given to allow us to figure the relative timeline between Cradle and Fathom.
- Combat Arts are like spells, they don't level people up or necessarily boost their stats. They are ritualized combat forms that require certain mentalities or qualities to use, and sometimes require charging up, and exceptional people have high compatibility with them.
- Unlike Cradle where people cultivate strength to ascend, ascending in Fathom is not easy or a baked-in part of the magic system. A method to ascend in Fathom is through a magic ritual, though it is not common.
- The next book after the Pilot won't be the next Last Horizon Book. The next book will be a stand-alone LitRPG fantasy Isekai. In the current version, the prologue will feature an Abidan previously shown in Threshold, and the protagonist is taken to another universe after their death so the Abidan can test an alternative solution to the Reaper Division in stabilizing universes and prevent more of the multiverse from falling to Chaos. The original power system was scrapped due to being overdesigned, in it dungeons which produces resources have a magical artifact each, but if the magical artifact is absorbed as an inherent magical power instead of simply collected, the dungeon disappears, and the inherent magical power can be further strengthened by absorbing compatible artifacts. The power system that will be used will feel more like a video game.

So I made a couple of calculations. if approved they will allow us to make profiles for the low and mid tiers.

Traveler's Gate frozen time speed feat:
Mach 4145.24. Scales to Underlords

Recent Underlord Orthos growing to half the size of the Wandering Titan:
Large Island Level. Wandering Titan calculated to be no less than 8 km tall.

I also made a supporting Multi-Continental feat for Sages and Heralds, from The Elder Empire's continent sinking feat:

For speed of tiers lower than Underlord, we can use the timing of training course Eithan built in Chapter 3 of Blackflame. They have to hit 18 spinning dummies spread over the area of a barn three times each.

Lowgold Yerin cleared it in 15 seconds, and Underlord Eithan says he can clear a similar course in 2 seconds.

This would make Lowgolds scale 7.5 lower than Underlords in speed, which would be Mach 552.70.

The only part of the scaling I am not sure of is the very low tiers. Like Jade level, or those below Champion level in the Elder Empire.

For additional support for high-level non-ascended speed, Lindon deflected a beam of light from the Bleeding Phoenix, and at the end of Waybound, Blue dodged a mechanical laser beam. Raion and Sola also have feats of dodging Starhammer's lasers (also described as beams of light).

I also found a another multiplier.

But the yellow-orange blade filled me with the same apprehension I’d felt on seeing Sola’s Worldslayer. Which became scarier when the Titan took a stance and began gathering light. It was Raion’s Art, the Dance of the Burning World, only magnified a thousandfold.

- The Captain, Chapter 32

The Divine Titan multiplies the power of Raion's Combat Art 1000x. With author statements on Raion's Divine Titan scaled to Monarchs and Raion scaling to high-level Archlords without, Raion on his own would be on the lower levels of Multi-Continental, which is more consistency for strong Archlords being Multi-Continental (they are currently that through downscaling from Heralds/Sages).
There is also room to calculate moon and planet level Divine Titan feats that are done without friendship boosts.
