He has a "kinda" resistance thanks to Kurama being able to snap him out of it like Gyuki does with Bee but it's not technically a resistance in its own right.

Well, “Genjutsu” works by controlling the “Chakra” flowing through the brain of the individual. It’s Illusion Manipulation via Energy Control.
My principle is, if Character X has energy that flows from their body (Ki, Reiatsu, etc.), Genjutsu would work (Unless everyone is being “Militant” on not wanting a Character to use their abilities as portrayed and try to argue, “It HaS tO bE cHaKrA”…
).But if Character X “doesn’t” have an “Energy System”, then no because again, Genjutsu is Illusion Manipulation via Energy Manipulation.

it also works on things like Edo Tensei, which while in use are just paper bodies with the person's soul attached, Zetsu, who is just play-doh with Hashirama Cells, and Bijuu, which are just solid souls (albiet they do have flesh but idk if they have the same kind of physical anatomy that an actual animal would have.)

But that Genjutsu still only affects the people who look at it bc it’s not matter manipulation or anything like that, right? Ntm it literally goes against what Genjutsu is described as, so it would have to mean the Genjutsu used on surfaces is affecting the victims chakra still upon looking.
If that makes sense…
That’s the only way I can see it making sense w/o contradictions or retcons.

Iirc, doesn’t the Databook assert: Controlling the Brains Chakra occurs before manipulation of the senses?
Because all that means is, for the Genjutsu used on the Surfaces, the affect is faster than human Perception Speed, or FTE speeds, etc.

if the sensory part came second then there would be no need to target the senses first ( see occular genjutsu, sound genjutsu ect)

So:
- Genjutsu = Taking control of the Targets Chakra Flowing through the Nervous System.
- Genjutsu Works by affecting the senses.
We know the “Effect” is directly tied to control of the targets Chakra, which is why Jiraiya’s Method for dispelling it is “Stop Chakra Flow > Explode Chakra Flow”.
This would inherently mean Genjutsu controlling the Senses would have to take place after Chakra is being controlled, because otherwise, why is Chakra even a factor?

hell sarada was able to layer a genjutsu ontop of another genjutsu that was controlling her body simply putting a genjutsu on herself via her reflection.

no its just that stopping your chakra flow basically causes a disruption which can break the genjutsu, you can replicate this effect without chakra.
some genjutsu can be broken out of through pain, like how shikamaru broke out of tayuya's via breaking his finger and Kurenai could break out of itachi's reversal genjutsu ability by biting her finger.

All that would mean is Jiraiya’s “method” isn’t widely known. Even against Itachi, Naruto was able to control his own Chakra to a degree, which drew Itachi’s praise. Genjutsu doesn’t inherently mean the victim doesn’t have “any” control over their chakra (Otherwise, Jiraiya was a fraud).
Sarada layering Genjutsu over Genjutsu is simply doing what Itachi & Sasuke did with Kabuto’s.

now i should prob say that genjutsu shouldnt be thought of as a specific mechanic even though theres obvious genjutsu that are used more commonly, but more an umbrella turn for mind ninja bullshit, some with their own mechanics.
for example the mist ninja in the chunin exams has a genjutsu that creates illusionary clones, said clones can physically be smacked by naruto.
same with kakashi who can physically dispel a genjutsu with his raikiri during the obito fight.

But doesn’t that inherently mean for a target to be affected by Genjutsu, their Chakra must be able to be controlled? So why would controlling chakra be secondary if Chakra Control is primary to breaking it in the equation?
Sure, pain is method, yes. Jiraiya’s method is just another method.
