Ngl, kinda surprised FFXVI outdid VII Rebirth, not complaining though...
Given all the doom and gloom I keep seeing about the performances of XVI and Rebirth, I'm pretty happy to see they are doing well one way or another.

IMO, even even if we don't compare the games themselves, I think Rebirth being a direct sequel to another game and to a smaller extent the controversies surrounding Remake did hamper its performance to an extent.

I did find a bunch of translations of the Ultimania:

  • Here (this is the same translator from whom I got a lot of the stuff I used for VII Remake stuff)
  • Here
  • And Here
Will post more stuff as I find. I didn't take a detailed look in order to avoid spoilers since I still intend to get the game in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

EDIT: Here talks about the Ultima'´s Interdimensional Rift. Here is the World's Chronology. Here are the Character Profiles.
briefly went through a few of those links, have u found anything relating to scaling? seems like general information you get when playing the game

Nothing too explicit so far. Though I am just looking over the text to not spoil myself too much since I have yet to play the game. That said, Ultimanias and such usually give off little details that can be relevant when researching, so it's better to look carefully.

Where was that confirned
The statement for the justification comes from the ultimania and remember in game as well Ultima tell Barnabas that there is nothing his blade cannot cut in response to barnabas questioning if it could cut something without a physical form

If it's mentioned in the Ultimania it's better to link it to dispel doubts about it.

Nah this is not spatial manipulation
The statement for the justification comes from the ultimania
I believe it said it can cut through all things in creation which sounds too vague to be spatial manipulation

剣でなぎ払い、正面の空間を無数の剣閃で切り裂くSnap away with the sword and cut through the space in front of you with countless sword flashes

威圧して相手をひるませたあと、 居合斬りで空間全 体を切り裂く。After intimidating the opponent, the iaiziri slashes through the entire space.

It's better to add these translations to the profile, precisely to explain where the spatial manip justification came from.

These could mean its cutting the area in front of you rather than cutting through the fabric of space. Here's the word used in the cambridge dictionary

Given it says "cut through the space in front of you" and "slashes through the entire space", it feels like it isn't referring to cutting the dimensional fabric

after reviewing the games events, only odin level fighters should scale to small country level. Shiva gets one shot by base barnabas, and Titan absorbed a mother crystal just to be weaker than a far weaker base Ifrit than the one base Bahamut was beating. Shiva, Titan and Garuda should NOT scale to Ultima's storm feat

Given that Ultima says Odin can cut anything that doesn’t physically exist and the only explanation for the ocean coming to a complete halt being he cut the space in-between it, I don’t know what would be the point of the data book hyping up cutting simply in front of him.

Got a link to that statement?

and the only explanation for the ocean coming to a complete halt being he cut the space in-between it
If the space was cut, everything in between the two parts of the sea would be non-existent, which wasn't the case. The seas rejoined too, so this is some weird supernatural ability that doesn't have to be spatial manipulation

I don’t know what would be the point of the data book hyping up cutting simply in front of him
It wasn't "hyping up" anything, its just a description of his abilities

3:46

Barnabas: To destroy that which has no physical form, you ask the impossible.

Ultima: There is nothing your black blade cannot cut Odin.

Ultima was being metaphorical here. He was asking Barnabas to destroy the bonds Clive has formed with his friends. He didn't mean Barnabas could literally cut Clive's consciousness and shatter his consciousness, otherwise Barnabas would have done that in their fight

Base Clive shouldn't as well, until the Ultima fight after he absorbs Joshua
well that Clive would already be low 2-C once he becomes the completed vessel and fights Ultima so prior to that he'd definitely still scale as he is comparable to bahamut who could match Odin and has already beaten Odin himself by that point so he'd scale low 6-B before that either way it goes

Why is he comparable to Bahamut again?

Cause Ifrit and Bahamut match and harm each other in combat scaling to each other even if it thry needed to tram up they'd still downscale but that's before Clive outright matches Odin later on

I mean base Clive, not Ifrit

It def cuts space, otherwise explain how Barnabas kept the ocean spilt for several minutes

Again... Clive literally beats a Semi-Primed Barnabas in base heck partway through the fight base Clive is still harming Odin in full. Not sure why ya keep glossing over that point being made a few times now

While Clive does defeat a Semi-Primed Barnabas in his base form, it takes him a LOT of efforts to do so. More importantly, Clive only defeats Barnabas in his third attempt against him. In his first, Clive is literally cut down by an absolutely casual Barnabas with a single gesture and in his second, he does manage to make him put some effort but he still soundly defeated and Barnabas isn't even scratched. It's only after he's absorbed Shiva that he finally gets strong enough to defeat Barnabas and it's NOT an easy task either. Even the dialogue plays its part in this. First attempt is not even a boss fight or a QTE but a cutscene with Barnabas calling Clive weak during their brief sword fight (in which he utterly dominates Clive without any real effort whatsoever). Second attempt is a boss fight but it's unwinnable and throughout all of it, Barnabas's dialogue is about spewing nihilistic and misanthropic views of existence and the fight ends with an unblockable attack that you just can't interrupt and the next cutscene, Clive is clearly wounded while Barnabas isn't even scratched. Meanwhile, in their final fight, Barnabas is more openly serious, openly tells Clive he's grown stronger and it culminates in him getting outright joyful and ecstatic, saying it's the first time in decades that he's actually feeling alive and someone is capable of matching him and forcing him to use his full power and he thoroughly enjoys every second of it, indicating it's only NOW that Clive has gotten strong enough to actually be a challenge.

Pre-Shiva Clive is clearly much weaker than Barnabas, it's only after absorbing Shiva Clive gains the power to defeat him. So yes, at THAT point, Base Clive is definitely on the same level but again, it's not easy for him and it's only after absorbing Shiva and getting stronger. So pre-Shiva Clive is NOT comparable to Barnabas, Bahamut fight or not (not to mention that while Ifrit could damage Bahamut, it took teaming up with Phoenix to...not even defeat Bahamut on their own but just make him pause and go for the Mothercrystal, meaning the team-up matched him but didn't defeat him per se, so it's clear that on his own Ifrit couldn't defeat Bahamut).

Yup so all and all still scaling to low 6-B

Don't know about the others but I'm still in need for the stamina as the sole missing parameter on his profile, otherwise Barnabas is pretty much ready (aside from the space cutting which might be an issue)
What about the suggestion i made previously

Quick question… was the place where Ifrit Risen and Ultima Risen fought created by Ultima or just teleported to there?

I see people saying it takes place in the same Interdimensional Rift that Ultima created, was that confirmed?

The interdimensional rift is explicitly created by Ultima and you see the same structures in the final battle where ifrit risen and ultima fight floating around the battlefield, even starting the fight Ultima is taking you a dimension of his creation or at least that's the implication, there is more but I don't remember it all.

Fight does take place in the rift tho
