Re Zero Discussion Thread: Season 3 is Real

I got the opposite impression
It's described as green fire, but the fire in the city is described as red, so perhaps it's just inconsistent.
The Dragon’s fiery breath engulfed the Spire rooftop, and a part of its intensity reached the inside of the Spire as well.

「――」

The green flames billowed in from the open window and burned through the remains of the wretched sacrifices that were piled up in a corner of the room. Then with no signs of stopping, the flames surged towards the two women as well―― Theresia and Melinda.

――No, that wasn’t quite right. The green flames were crashing down on only one of them.

Is probally not the Subaru orb, since is in his stomach. He would need to trow himself there
Ejecting it would not be difficult.

Think he likes his orbs raw or seasoned?

I wonder if arcs 7 and 8 will be counted as their own season or will each arc be a separate season. Re:zero has enough content for a 4th season.
Arc 6 looks like it's gonna be rebranded as season 4. Arcs 7 & 8 require at least 2, possibly even 3 seasons to adapt.

Also, from early clips of Episode 60, Emilia's Al Huma looks crazy-strong.

Question(s):

Does anyone know where the source for Rem being half as strong when not in Oni form is (if it exists)? Volume 3 states she's no sturdier than a human when her horn isn't out.
"Rem."

"Yes."

—Subaru's face was truly right before her eyes.

"Bonk."

"—?!"

The hard smack sound of bone upon bone sent sparks into Rem's vision.

For an instant, the sharp pain narrowed Rem's field of vision as she put a hand on her forehead in confusion. When not in her horned form, her flesh was no hardier than an ordinary human's.

No doubt others would be able to see a faint, reddening bump from the impact to her brow. –Volume 3, Chapter 5, Section 1

Also, which feat of Petelgeuse's (harming or tanking superhumans like Julius without his Authority) is it that's used for his justification? Is it somewhere in volume 8 or 9?

Teehee~

Arc 9 stuff:

Ok so the Star Staff doesn't seem to vary in power based on user, and its power is nothing compared to Al Shario. The meteor fires the light of Shario and it has the power to "silence" Volcanica– basically just a smack to the face.
Felt: [――Cut it with the crap!!]

Without even realizing it, she raised the Meteor―― the Star Staff, taking aim at the incoming Dragon.

She was quite knowledgeable about the Dragon’s sturdiness, having witnessed its clash with Reinhard when Ezzo and the others had gone to the Pleiades Watchtower. ――Of course, the reason for which she aimed the Star Staff at the Dragon, was concerned not with its robustness.

Even when interjecting to tell them to stop screwing around, Felt did not have the option to punch Rom-jii.

Divine Dragon: [――Ouch!!]

The blow that bore the light of a star struck the side of the Dragon’s maw, yielding a cry of pain that utterly lacked the dignity befitting the Divine Dragon, redirecting its breath towards a different direction.

That breath forcefully leveled the empty, deserted plain, but that mattered not. –Arc 9, Chapter 22, "How to End a Battle"

Al Shario is said to be the zenith of destructive acts in this era, easily surpassing the breath of Dragons, and it can slay Dragons, but we know Dragons are not monolithic and their power varies; Garfiel could walk through Mezoreia's roar, but he was incapacitated by a mere sneeze from "Aldebaran".
The response was one akin to sticking out his tongue to an outstretched hand, causing Reinhard’s eyes to widen; then, simultaneously with a clumsy roar, a white light surged towards the Sword Saint as he stood unflinching.

Unaccustomed to piloting the freshly hijacked dragonhusk, it was a terribly misshapen attack―― however, the power of the Dragon’s breath unleashed from that almighty body was very much authentic.

If the breath unleashed upon Garfiel and Ezzo on the highest floor of the Pleiades Watchtower right after overwriting its Memories were a sneeze, then this blast was charged with a definite intent for destruction.

To demonstrate the difference in accumulated destructive force, a surging wave of white energy engulfed Reinhard, one that would alter the form of the deserted Sand Sea for the rest of all eternity. –Arc 9, Chapter 14, "The Strongest"

If the Star Staff nets a woundless "Ouch!" from "Aldebaran", then it likely should be nerfed to 7-A (Rye could survive it point-blank, though badly injured). Meanwhile, given it does still net enough of a reaction so as to "silence" Volcanica, Al Shario may just scale to Volcanica, right? Although the "zenith of destruction" statements are annoyingly non-specific when comparing it to Dragons.

Arc 9 stuff
I agree on most of this, we can clearly see from Divine Dragon Aldebaran's reaction how much more powerful Al Shario is then the Star Staff in terms of pure power:
Divine Dragon: [――Ouch!!]

The blow that bore the light of a star struck the side of the Dragon’s maw, yielding a cry of pain that utterly lacked the dignity befitting the Divine Dragon, redirecting its breath towards a different direction.
The shattered star burst into innumerable glittering fragments, carpet bombing the Sand Sea.

Aldebaran: [Gu, uuu…]

Naturally, Aldebaran, who was on the ground, was also blown away, his entire body accumulating several burns as he collapsed onto the sand.

Soon, he heard a rumbling that did not resemble that of a falling star from not too far away, and with difficulty he turned his neck to look towards the place it came from, where he saw “Aldebaran”, with a broken wing and another that had been severed, having powerlessly fallen to the ground.

I will say though, I feel like the Star Staff being 7-A is a bit of a lowball, as even if it can't damage them, the blow is still powerful enough to bring out a reaction from Volcanica and Aldebaran, which 99% of the cast would be unable to do.

Lye and Heinkel (specifically Heinkel), the only characters we've seen (barely) tanking the Star Staff, are noted to have very good durability
Naturally, realizing his intentions, Heinkel had begun to yell “Aldeba――”, with anger evident upon his face; however, in the next instant, the burst of white light struck the red-haired swordsman, his entire body permeated by an impact that could silence even a Dragon.

Heinkel: [――Kah, oghh, gwoaAHHHhh!]

Aldebaran, who had experienced it firsthand, had suffered damage that seemed to scorch his brain and internal organs to a crisp. However, though Heinkel had fallen to his knees, passing out, he still possessed the leeway to writhe in agony on the spot.

Whether in Vollachia, or that instance with “Aldebaran”, time and again, through brutal struggles was the extraordinary sturdiness which Heinkel possessed proven. ――Having been saved by the resilience that seemed to bring Heinkel himself no gratification whatsoever, Aldebaran looked to where the light had originated.

The natural assumption would be that the Star Staff, the "crystalization of Echidna's intellect", is superior to her "normal" magic. But then that would mean Rye somewhat scales to Echidna's magic and I don't particularly like that.

I agree with downgrading the star staff. Anything else is too vague rn though imo. I will say that Heinkel and Ley are vastly stronger than most of the 7-A characters so that rating is likely a lowball but that goes for a lot of the 7-A scaling on the wiki already and without a better feat to scale them to the best we can do is give it a likely higher rating.

Regulus as a character is so unlikeable. I don't like his personality. He is a fine villain, I guess, but he is lame as hell.

Regulus is an interesting villain, he is a walking contradiction, portraying himself as the most satisfied person, but in fact he is the most greedy, he demands your respect. Its his biggest downfall, he is basically a narcissist who needs others to make himself feel good, it's why Subaru and Emilia last so long against him, because he needs to prove to them, but more so to himself that he is better than them.

It's fitting that such a selfish person manifested the ability to close himself off from others, and yet its his childish, and ego-centric personality, that stops him from reaching his full potential. Like imagine an actual smart person with Regulus authority, he would have been almost unstoppable, and yet because he is just a child mentally, is why he even got that ability, so its all very ironic imo.

But yea he is fun to watch, because you want to see him fail.

That's a pretty good character analysis, it makes sense. I guess he isn't meant to be likeable, so he fits his purpose.

I think the reason I don't like Regulus so much is that I was hyped up to see him animated because I heard a lot of people brag about how strong and immortal he is, and he reminded me of two other cool albinos with overpowered defensive abilities. But when I saw him, I don't think he gets a lot of cool character moments. And he is so clumsy, like a cartoon villain. He got hit by a flying door and while skiing down a water body, he crashed into a wall. He has a cool ability, but his personality and actions disappoint me, really. I guess I had very high expectations for him.

There is something about his personality that I dislike. I think it's how much he is willing to bully weak people, yet he doesn't have a strong personality to back that up. He is not badass at all.

Honestly, Regulus is an immortal punching bag. He is basically the sandbag from smash. Someone who can be bullied and thrown around like a ragdoll, yet he won't die.
Because the anime turns him into a completely different character 💀 and removes all of the feeling of dread and hopelessness his presence creates. He is not very threatening anymore.
That must be it. Did they remove any scenes? Or change his personality?

That must be it. Did they remove any scenes? Or change his personality?
They've removed stuff from every scene he's been in and changed a lot of what they included. He's meant to be calm and collected for all of the scenes where he's held Emilia captive. He says the most insane viewpoints with a straight face as if they are completely normal and his wives are paralyzed to doing anything at all because one moment he will seem perfectly calm and then the next kill one of them. They have no clue what will set him off. I could honestly go on for a while.

I wonder if Sirius' manipulation of speed and space are a kind of magic, an aspect of her Authority, or a third weirder thing.

Surely magic. I mean, it's very clearly described as time based, something we happen to see Fortuna stop. I wonder what that could mean.

It's said to be akin to time turning against Priscilla, but I'm not sure if "akin to" is enough to grant time manip. The Re:Zero wiki also describes it as "Velocity Manipulation", and I'd rather maintain consistency with the wiki unless they're just wrong (like how Noelle does in fact have a Blessing in One Wild Night Extra, contrary to what her page claims).

Also, are you referring to Fortuna's little chant right before she and Geuse nuke Pandora, or is there an ss I haven't read where Fortuna pauses time to stop Emilia from tripping.

Noteworthy stuff from Arc 9, Chapter 23, "The Gang's All Here"
Details on The Balance's technique of stealing Divine Protections. Reminds me of how Groovy made a werewolf-pelt cloak that retained the Divine Protection of Ambush.
Rom: [What’s Felt’s situation? The best way ta find out is…]

Rachins: [About that, unfortunately they dealt with Manfred’s Divine Protection of Farsight. It ain’t just the helmet bastard, the maid that was with him seemed pretty sharp too. I guess he’s lucky he got away with only his eye gouged out.]

Rom: [As I thought, they didn’t leave that be. I suppose that was an unreasonable expectation.]

The aforementioned Divine Protection of Farsight was a highly practical Divine Protection in terms of possible tactics and strategies that allowed the user to locate and monitor a target’s location from afar.

It had been used by Manfred Madison, who served as the head of the Balance in the union of the Flanders criminal underworld that cooperated with Felt’s group―― however, the Divine Protection of Farsight itself was not borne upon him, but rather, he had gained it as a result of stealing it from someone it had been gifted to.

The Black Silver Coin and the Flower Prison Garden were also organizations deeply rooted in Flanders, but the Balance was different; it was a notorious group with a long and shady history that existed outside of the city.

Most notably, the Balance possessed a technique to steal Divine Protections―― Rom-jii speculated that they likely kept the original holder of the Divine Protection alive, having a proxy use the body part that served as the source of their Divine Protection.

In short, if a Divine Protection holder possessing the Divine Protection of Farsight, which affected the eyes, had their eyes removed and transplanted, the effects of that Divine Protection could be freely inherited. ――Of course, one could not just remove their eyeballs and replace them to use a Divine Protection at will. Therein lay the secret technique possessed only by the Balance, a sacrament never to be revealed to outsiders.

Regardless of the technique, if the eyeballs that served as the source of the Divine Protection of Farsight were destroyed, then relying on Manfred to continue tracking Felt’s movements was no longer an option.

The Flow Method actually hastens the recovery of wounds and strength.
And, just as the conversation came to a halt, Grassis suddenly appeared.

At the end of the battle, she had last been seen tied up by the thread user called Yae, but she seemed to be in much better condition than Rachins from the looks of it.

Despite their young appearances, she and her sister Flam were trained by the Astrea family from birth, ranking them in the upper echelon of the many combatants that Rom-jii had ever met. Her excellent control of the Flow Method greatly contributed to the recovery of her wounds and physical strength, so she already seemed to have fully recuperated.

Al can use a fang from the Divine Dragon as a catalyst, letting him forcibly disable strong seals.
――Four-hundred and seven times.

Via that trial and error, in the location he had sought to reach, Aldebaran had located what he was searching for. From the entrance door to the multilayered mechanisms in the room, it was sealed rigorously as to not permit the slightest bit of interference.

In reality, without any assistance, Aldebaran would have been unable to do anything regarding the mechanism before his eyes, regardless of having managed to reach this place, and thus would have ended up retreating in dejection.

However, the current Aldebaran had――,

Aldebaran: [――The Divine Dragon’s fang, I wonder how many holy gold coins it’d be worth.]

An article so rare that the ensemble of merchants he knew would all have dollar signs in their eyes, estimating its value with an abacus inside their heads; using it as a catalyst, Aldebaran destroyed the sturdy mechanism through sheer force.

Like nothing he had ever heard before, an aberrant sound of destruction akin to an iron bar being torn off a wall through brute force arose; the invisible wall that had certainly been present vanished, and Aldebaran stepped forth into the space.

Aldebaran could unseal Roy's Yin-magic seal by himself, without a catalyst.
As if to prove such, Aldebaran reached his hand out towards the blackness before his eyes. That was also the work of extraordinary principles, but this time the Divine Dragon’s aid was needed not.

Albeit different in essence, what laid there was similar to the coalescence of the Witch’s teachings, which Aldebaran had mastered at the end of rigorous training which had made it seem as if he would drown in his own bloody vomit――,

Aldebaran: [――――]

Passing his intent through the fingertips held aloft, the subsequent moment, cracks ran through the whole of it, shattering.

Into pieces akin to fragments of porcelain it fissured, however, no sound of its scattered shards rippled with the ground as the source. Instead, its composition unravelled, melting into the atmosphere.

Witnessing that run its course with his own eyes, before Aldebaran, in place of the vanished black mass, was a single human silhouette on the ground, down on all fours.

Aldebaran: [Obey, and follow me. ――If you do that, I won’t kill you here.]

???: [Hah――]

As Aldebaran quietly pronounced so, the silhouette made sure to let out a breath as it smiled. ――Nay, it sniggered.

Sniggering, sniggering, sniggering, licking the lips of the mouth from which sharp fangs protruded――,

???: [――How nice, so nice, quite nice, perhaps it is nice, surely it is nice, so quite nice, certainly it is nice, because it is certainly nice, because our chest trembles at how nice it is-! Gluttonous drinking-! Gluttony-!]

Indeed, within the solitary cell colored in darkness, the existence liberated from its jet-black coffin―― the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Roy Alphard, amidst feelings of freedom and hunger, jubilated.

Apparantly Reinhard can still use his injured arms to swing a sword?? First time in a while that Reinhard has surprised me, one of those arms were crushed by a black hole.
Flam’s voice, as if screaming, surely reached Reinhard, who was challenging that dark demise. There was no way he could have failed to hear it. That was because Reinhard van Astrea himself had decided that he had to be that kind of existence.

Despite that, Flam’s anguished voice went unanswered, as the strongest of the Sword Saints to ever have existed was being exposed to such a fierce threat that even a momentary lapse in concentration could be fatal.

???: [――――]

Countless black arms surged forward like literal waves, spreading out to fill everything in sight, continuously trying to crush their target with unstoppable destruction.

Reinhard wielded the Dragon Sword with both of his nearly torn-off arms, and swung the legendary sword that could not be unsheathed in place of his arms, breaking through the cage of black shadows that seemingly was inescapable in all directions, smashing it to pieces.

He repeated this over and over again, ten or twenty times a second, until the sweat that had formed and the blood that had flowed left his body as steam. Reinhard was completely absorbed in his task.

――That, was the decisive contest between these two legendary beings, the Sword Saint and the Witch of Envy.

A Question i've had for a while. Assuming Petelgeuse got to keep Subaru's body, how would it compare to the original? Like would he get any kind of boost from it? (Assuming he also takes over/fuses with the soul or just gets the body alone)

I'd rather maintain consistency with the wiki unless they're just wrong
It's not that it's necessarily wrong, it's that they don't technically know for sure the mechanism it works by. They technically don't even know for sure that Sirius is Fortuna. And I'm the whole reason that's on the wiki anyway 💀
Also, are you referring to Fortuna's little chant right before she and Geuse nuke Pandora, or is there an ss I haven't read where Fortuna pauses time to stop Emilia from tripping.
Yes, not only does she talk about stopping time here but we know she should be able to anyway because that's what absolute zero does.

It's not that it's necessarily wrong
Then, would you speculate that both abilities that Sirius employed were applications of Yin magic, manipulating time and space respectively? That'd be my theory for now at least.

Can she use Absolute Zero? It's not said in volume 14.

I can't deny it's possible but it just seems significantly less likely to me.
Can she use Absolute Zero? It's not said in volume 14.
She is a greater magic user than both of the other two characters who have been shown to be able to and she describes a form of ice magic in her incantation that has the same effect. As of right now there's no reason to assume you can freeze time with ice magic withought absolute zero. Tappei is using real world physics with his description of absolute zero. He's almost certainly gonna want to stick to its rules here.
