Heaven's Dogma (RP Thread)

"..." They were in the middle of meditating but opened their eyes and replied, "That so?" before they glanced at their palm.
"Oh, uh... Sorry for interrupting you. I'll just shut up now.", Taiga went quiet and turned away.
"And how can I help? Though I... I admit I'm not the most physically inclined and... I'd like to see the sun, or whatever it is now, up there." Aurum shuffled with some discomfort, not really liking the swaying of this place regardless.
"You'll be coming with us so no worries. As for your task, make sure we receive our daily intake of fresh fruits and water as usual. That's all Eye ask from you.", he said.

(Sorry for inactivity on my part lol, I'll try to get the plot moving sometime today, but didn't want to get in the way of character interactions.)

"A-All right... I-Is there anyone who came with you'd have me avoid?" Aurum quietly asked, shakily starting to get up

The Watcher gently reached for her shoulder, prompting Aurum to sit back down.

"No. Truth be told, we haven't decided who else to bring yet. It should preferably be someone who also wants to get out and can help us during the journey, but most people are either unreliable or lack the desire to escape. They have a better life in here than out there anyway.", he replied.

"...But... I'm the one who would k-keep both..." Aurum willingly sits back down, looking extremely conflicted and even worried.

"Yeah..." Aurum murmured quietly
"This community was already doing well enough even before we appeared. Since then, their living conditions have only improved. We've taught them many things, and they've learned a lot from us. That's why Eye am confident they won't have any trouble surviving on their own.", he reassured her.

"...Okay." It seemed to work after a moment of consideration, and Aurum was back to having a small smile on her soft face never meant for the horrors of modern times.

"Don't hesitate to ask me if you have any other questions.", the masked man said as he took out an object from his pocket.

It was attached to a small golden chain and produced a tiny ticking sound every second. Aurum knew what it was. Her friend used it to tell the time, but he would also just stare at it whenever he was contemplating something and that's exactly what he was doing at that moment. Like always, the watch was kept hidden within his hands while he was looking at it as if he didn't want it to fall into the eyes of others.

"You wanna have some tea?", the Witness suddenly looked at her again and asked.

He nodded as the watch was placed back inside his pocket. Several items were then removed from the Watcher's suitcase including a kettle, a portable stove, and a porcelain tea set. It didn't take him too long to boil some water and prepare the beverage.

"Eye never thought Eye would get to experience this again. It wouldn't have been possible if we hadn't met you.", he said while pouring the hot liquid from the teapot into a cup and offering it to Aurum. "Here you go."

"Really?" Aurum sounded surprised "I'd think people would like to do this with you..." She murmured, even after a few months, she was still so innocent... She took the teacup and gingerly blew the steam off the top

"They do. We just couldn't find any tea. It all disappeared a couple hundred years ago. If only Eye had my suitcase back then...", he told her while pouring some more tea into another cup for himself.

"oh... so it's a recent discovery?" Aurum asked, slightly confused as she took a very small sip of the tea, savoring the flavor

"I suppose one I'll never hear..." Aurum sighed and just kept at drinking her tea slowly, it seemed to be a bit of a comfort for her to be drinking something like this.
"Not from me, but you can try asking Taiga once he comes back. He'll tell you about it along with his entire history.", the Witness chuckled.

"I'd rather hear it in your words... he... I'm not used to people being at all rough around me yet, life-long hospital patient and all of that..."

"Come on now. He's not that bad. Taiga likes fighting people for fun, sure, but it's not the only thing he knows. I wouldn't have been able to research and achieve this if it hadn't been for his help.", he mentioned while moving his hands behind his head to undo the knot that was keeping his mask secured.

"Yes, you heard that right. Taiga knew another Dogma user whose power was to grant other people Dogmas. It was his conviction that persuaded the man to let me study his ability and replicate it to produce Schrödinger.", the Watcher continued while lifting the mask just enough to expose his mouth and clean-shaven chin. A few wrinkles could be seen on what little of his face was shown as he calmly took a sip of his tea.

"Yeah. In a way, you being in some kind of coma was both a bad and good thing.", he muttered while staring at the tea in his cup.

"On the one hand, you didn't get to prepare. You were plunged straight into the chaos, waking up alone in an unfamiliar hostile environment. On the other hand, you didn't have to... watch it all unfold. And you were lucky enough to have people helping you in the process, even if it were for their own benefits.", a barely noticeable frown appeared on his face as he spoke.

"Girl. Open your eyes, girl."

The Voice spoke to her once again. She drifted out of her body, but not into the world outside of it—but rather into a void. Her surroundings were a canvas painted in an unseemly black.

Other colors quickly painted themselves on to accompany the void. Red and white flowed together in a grotesque stream of hues and shades. The black canvas soon became an artwork. And that artwork quickly arranged itself into a balcony, looking down an a seemingly endless structure of rooms. She called them, 'apartments.'

"Eyes are open." She said, leaning against the balcony. She wore clothes she would never wear in front of anyone else. She adorned herself in a cloak in the outside world, but now she simply a wore a baggy, oversized black shirt with a crimson emblem sewn into its front. The emblem was a circle with a line shot through it diagonally. "What do you want?"

"For you to stop violating the terms of our agreement."

"Nothing's been violated. F*ck off."

"Vulgarity changes nothing. You're breaking the deal."

It did not sound much like bickering. The girl spoke with ire towards the voice as it loomed all around here—it was the giant hole in the gaping sky that loomed over her. It was the appalling cacophony of red and black that surrounded her in all directions. It was her world. It was her.

"These people you have surrounded yourself are like cancerous growths. They will gnaw at you and gnaw at you until you have lost sight of who you are. You do not need them."

"I do need them. For now. They have abilities i don't, and knowledge i don't. That kid could make food and water. That's useful."

"Useful, yes. But I heard it in your voice when you beckoned her beyond the door. You sought companionship with her. You sought conversation. You sought something that you do not seek."

"...You're wrong."

"I am never wrong, girl. Not about you. I exist inside of you. I give you all that you are. We are the same type of being—broken, alone, and unaware."

"...Shut the f*ck up."

"Do not surround yourself with these things, girl. They are distractions. Unnecessary and detrimental. Remember this: you are alone. We are alone."

"....."

"Remember that I am the only one truly on your side. The rest want to hurt you. They are always thinking of it. Always planning it. I am the only one on your side, dear girl. The only one."

Her protestations became silent, as she slumped against the balcony. She looked down into the endless Abyss beneath her. No, perhaps endless wasn't sufficient to quantify it. It did not end, because it did not begin either. It did not exist, and yet it did. It was a fragment of a memory lost and yet endlessly craved for.

"It's time to wake up. Something is coming."

Indeed, it was time to wake up. The girl straightens her posture, and looks down into the Abyss that is and yet isn't. An infinitely changing Boundary.

She climbs over the edge of the balcony, and she falls. The cacophony of color that had she had painted her canvas with was soon blotted out. Even the black went away. It became something that could not be expressed through color or vision—she saw nothing. It was cold, and it was comfortable. It was isolated.

She was encased.

Kurai's eyes shot open. Feeling the sleeping bag around her body made her feel as if she was trapped in something—until she realized she was in a sleeping bag, not in some capsule. She wiggled her finger out into the gap she'd left in the thing, slowly unzipping it and wiggling her way out.

"....Something's coming." She whispered to herself. She sighed, slowly getting up from her prison of comfort in the geometric box she lay in. "Daemons wouldn't survive in here, so... must be humans."

She considered if there was perhaps another floating civilization in the daemon's stomach. Or... maybe it was a conflict on the ship. She knew that violence was forbidden via an unspoken rule, but she didn't trust anybody to uphold that.

She left the box, and began searching for the Watcher. If anybody could help prepare for an unknown attack, it would be the man with eyes everywhere.

"I-It's not possible. It just isn't. How can I help everyone?! How can I lead them--"

"You will, eventually. The difference between you and them is that you dream of days long gone, Outside of the necromancer you will come to see, you are the eldest here. You fight to restore that world!"

"But it's hard! I don't know combat, or violence, or brutality!"

"With enough support, you personally do not have to. Some will shun you as an idealist for a time long gone, but you have the power to bring it to reality, that is the gift of your soul, of your mind. I will fight your wars in the end, but it will be you to make a better world."

"But I don't have that support... ..." Aurum Argentea lied to herself. She always did in darker moments.

"Your company is part of it. the woman you gave the apple to seems to be struggling, But in the end she will help you, even this Taiga is part of it. In a world drowned by selfishness and bloodshed, you shine bright as a star, a beacon of hope. Never forget that. Now, you have hostiles coming, allow them to show you the truth of your allies!"

Aurum smiled. "Yes, Artanis." The girl whispered aloud

"Come on, we need to round everyone up." Aurum said, seeming a bit cautiously competent

"Why? Did your Dogmas warn you about some kind of threat?", he asked them.

"...Don't know if hers did, but mine did." Kurai sighed, "...Didn't give any specifics, but some level of conflict is coming to this place. It can't be Daemons, so it has to be humans. Either there's another settlement floating around planning an attack, or somebody on this thing is planning to break that unspoken rule of yours."

"Must be something big then. An average day wouldn't provoke such a reaction.", the Witness replied before downing the rest of his drink.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town...

"What? Is something bad happening?", Taiga muttered while looking at the bag he was carrying.

The eyes on its surface were now open and simultaneously blinking in a certain pattern as if communicating to him. It was a signal that warned him to be aware of his surroundings and stay alert. The tiger started looking around and listening for any signs of danger.

"...If I were'a rich man..."

A soft tone slowly pranced from behind the makeshift door of a storage room, complimented by the soft clink and clack of moving metal and tightening screws.

"...Dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dibba dum." the sound was rough, like waves crashing against a rocky shoreline or the sound of a seagull over the sandy dunes. A loud scrapping noise suddenly interrupted the voice: rust being rather forcefully scrubbed away from a piece of used metal.

"...All day long...I'd biddy biddy bum..." The song soon made itself heard above the chorus of mechanical motion. It had the kind of evenness and cadence that only came from constant repetition — the singer likely knew it by heart.

...If I were'a wealthy man!"

"Alright boss, engine oughta be purrin' smooth now." Nimah ended her song, raising her voice so that her current employer — a rather portly man who had recently drudged up the remains of what was once a motorbike — could hear her from outside. Her demonstration in the marketplace had, thankfully, netted her a customer, and he didn't seem like the type to skimp out on payment.

(I'm in no state to really RP so I'll bump and see if anyone has something to post)

"Of course. Anything is possible, but the odds of success depend on who we're dealing with today.", he said while quickly putting all of his stuff back in his suitcase and taking out a... normal looking wooden cane.

"Let's go now. We're gathering everyone as you suggested.", the man said as he stood up from the floor.

"...Good." Kurai murmured, "...Has anyone seen the scrawny one? She went up to the higher platform, I think."

"...Can you tell him to bring her here, then? We made need a spare head..." Kurai asked, throwing a bit of sarcasm at the end of her request.

"Not sure if she'll comply, but Eye will see what I can do. Eye can only make more eyes, not more mouths.", the Witness responded. He had other ways to inform him that didn't involve speaking of course. The eyes on the tiger's bag started blinking in a different pattern, a signal telling him to return.

"Ahem.", Taiga announced his presence while standing by the entrance of the storage room.

"You're done doing business yet? The others are looking for us."
