If A has reactive evolution and can adapt to 2x layered hax, what happens if A get attacked by 3x layered hax? Will A adapt or not?

The effectiveness of Reactive Evolution depends on the verse and the specific details about the ability.
  • For instance, if there’s a statement suggesting that the 2x layered hax it adapted to wasn’t its limit or that it has no defined limit, this can support extrapolating its adaptability.
  • Similarly, if the Reactive Evolution is a 'smurfed' ability capable of adapting to phenomena beyond the user's tier—e.g., adapting to higher-tier hax—it would demonstrate superiority over lower-tier layered hax.
  • Additionally, if Reactive Evolution is explicitly described as a universal cheat ability capable of adapting to anything in its verse, especially in a setting with other cases of layered hax, it is reasonable to assume it can adapt.
However, if its adaptation is presented as a one-off or isolated event, it should not be assumed capable of adapting to arbitrary levels, as this would constitute an NLF when extended to extreme scenarios like 5x or 70x layered hax.

"Its extent and complexity only go as far its feats and scaling have gone for it"

This sentence is too ambiguous, as if Reactive Evolution's ability is limited to that point. It raises confusion about whether, when facing a similar but stronger ability, the user of Reactive Evolution would be unable to adapt because its feats are limited to countering 2-layered hax. However, Reactive Evolution itself doesn't have an explicitly defined limit.

we actually do not have specific standard or rule for this kind of RE feat, in case the verse is vague about it and there is no define limit, it hard to guess alone, you could think it can adapt to N-layers but others can say since it have no feat beyond x2 layers, it shouldn't be able to evolve past 2 layers, both can be true at the same time, so this kind of question is tricky

Yes I agree with you but they should have been aware that it would be like this, I talked to my friend yesterday about these two options whether characters can evolve or not, it's quite confusing, because if they can evolve this violates what is in the reactive evolution blog which says "Its extent and complexity only go as far as its feats and scaling have gone for it"

But they should be able to evolve to that level, but this could also lead to nlf because we can think this character will evolve until it reaches the opponent's level or even infinite if there is no explicit limit on its abilities.

However, I think this depends on the potency of character because bigger potency can be stronger than layered hax 🤷‍♂️

There is a similar situation with Garou's RE but stats instead, and it was accepted that he can evolve to any finite level, i think it can be applied here, that character can RE to any number of layers as long as it is finite/not infinite. But of course this wasn't properly discussed and officially accepted so better not argue it yet. Of course if said character do not have define limit
