Name: Real name unknown. Commonly referred to as the Witness and other aliases.
Age: 333 years, 7 months, 11 days, 6 hours old (he's been keeping track of time)
Race:EyeHuman
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Very few people know what The Witness truly looks like as he has made an effort to keep it a secret for the past few centuries. He's never seen without a mask or headwear concealing his entire face and those who were unlucky enough to get even a tiny glimpse vanished without a trace shortly after, or at least that's what the rumours say. He also wears a suit and tie with several variations, sometimes accompanied by other articles of clothing such as long coats.
Background: The Witness is a being shrouded in mystery. Inhabitants of the Citadel are aware of his existence but not his identity, origins, or even his powers. They only know of his goal: "To acquire and preserve all of humanity's knowledge.", or at least whatever he can manage. Despite how little he lets on about himself, The Witness has successfully befriended and gained the trust of individuals from all walks of life over the years by helping those in need, protecting others, and even imparting his wisdom to people who either pay for it or desperately require it to survive. All of his kind-hearted actions come from not only his own decisions but also the instructions of his Dogma who seeks to guide him in the right path.
Dogma: Ascendancy-type.
(I'll be copying myself for some parts here)
Multiple Selves: Similar to Arkhan's case, his nameless Dogma can directly communicate to him and will often advise him on certain matters.
Photographic Memory: The ability which contributes the most to his intelligence allows him to remember everything he has ever experienced since he was born down to the most minute details.
"Eyes": The ability to create eyes and attach them to any solid surfaces that he touches including himself (Summoning I guess?). The appearances of these eyes can vary wildly in terms of size, colour, and whether they're literal eyes or 2D images of eyes (but they all have a few things in common besides their weaknesses which are being distinctly eye-shaped and the fact that they move). They're naturally comparable to those of the average Dogma user but they can also receive enhancements which put them above that. These enhancements can be a lot of things with the best ones allowing The Witness to analyze objects or beings (Information Analysis), predict patterns and actions (Analytical Prediction or outright Precognition if he's really trying), or even see people's thoughts which work against even Ascendancy type Dogma users (Layered Telepathy).
- At least Genius Intelligence: The Witness' intelligence and knowledge are what have enabled him to survive in The Citadel for centuries (he was already a genius before he even received his Dogma but I won't elaborate on that since it spoils his backstory). He has spent that much time gaining vast amounts of knowledge in different fields including natural sciences, technological sciences, social sciences, arts, literature, languages, history, philosophy, and religion. He is an expert in stealth, a skilled manipulator, and a formidable fighter who has mastered multiple forms of combat. He also possesses a great understanding of Dogmas and the Boundary (basically one of the people who contributed to the Dogma page).
- Limited Memory Manipulation (Self): Any information his brain can't hold or is currently unneeded gets transferred into The Boundary by his Dogma as information that he can recall later, giving him practically unlimited storage. When focusing, he's able to perfectly recall past experiences and "relive" them, allowing him to study and reflect upon them to further hone his skills (basically think of Wolf from Sekiro being able to have rematches with bosses within his mindscape. This of course means he can only do this while resting).
- Accelerated Development and Technique Mimicry: Able to learn things extremely quickly often just by seeing them once (watch this man perfectly recite the entire Bible in half an hour). Can copy the techniques of someone else just by seeing them perform it (obviously he has to be physically capable of performing it himself, otherwise he'll just produce an inferior copy).
- Weaknesses:
1. He remembers EVERYTHING. This includes all of his sad or painful memories and if he needs to recall things that happen to be deeply connected to these memories then they'll come flying back and hit him like a truck. And since he's one of the few fortunate enough to be born before Heaven even existed and has managed to survive up to this point, that's centuries worth of trauma that his Dogma is hiding to avoid driving him insane (if he isn't already).
2. Due to the strain it causes on him, his Dogma can't have him process everything all at once and will only give him information that it deems necessary. This will cause many "non-important" stuff such as memories of his past or his identity, things that define who he is other than his ultimate goal, to be stowed away. It also makes it difficult for him to "multitask" during a situation that requires massive amounts of info, often forcing him to constantly switch between them which can be mentally exhausting.
- Healing and Limited Body Control: (Low-Mid) The tears that his eyes produce can heal the wounds of any living being provided that they're still "living" of course. The amount of tears and time needed for it to work depends on the severity of the injury and it can't cure diseases or poisons. The Witness can "cry" at will to produce tears.
- Weaknesses:
1. Each of his eyes can only have one enhancement and while he can create as many as he wants, it's hard to keep track with every single one of them. The more enhancements his eyes have and the better they are, the more they drain his stamina, though he can close any eye he isn't using to reduce the strain at the cost of temporarily disabling its enhancement.
2. His eyes are relatively easy to damage and once destroyed, will lose their enhancements and vanish. He can feel pain through all of them even when they're not attached to his body. If he falls asleep or is rendered unconscious, all of his eyes will close.I'm finally done with it.Schrödinger: A brown leather suitcase The Witness often carries around with him. Through unknown means, objects placed within the suitcase are instantly transported to and deposited within the Boundary (similar to how his memories are stored there) and can be withdrawn when desired. The transportation will only happen when the suitcase is closed and when The Witness permits it. Other than living beings, anything can be stored in the suitcase as long as it can fit inside. Items included but are not limited to:
- Clothing: The Witness has already trained himself to withstand the high temperatures of the Citadel's landscape but his handmade suits and masks offer additional resistance both against even greater temperatures and low temperatures. Also gives him higher durability.
- Various melee weapons.
- The Hunter: Despite how fast and effective they are, obtaining firearms and ammunition within The Citadel is a very difficult and time consuming task. Furthermore, they may draw unwanted attention due to how loud they are. The Witness' solution? A handcrafted crossbow that fires arrows several times faster than himself. He currently only has access to 40 of them but the arrows are both flexible and durable, making recycling more than viable. When given time to prepare and with the right resources, he can also modify them into special types of arrows such as ones that can produce explosions, though this will make them more fragile or lower their range as a result.
- Vials and bottles of his tears.
- Food, water, and sleeping bags.
- Various tools.
Eye mean, Dogmas apparently only became a thing after Heaven did her whole dome plan so I'm not sure how you would implement that.I might cook up an actual Egyptian God as a Dogma for a character
Instead of a guy who says he's an egyptian God to gain more thorough support from the gal because she's supposed to be actively competent
Thing is about Dogmas is that I can say they're XYZ and give them the prior knowledge on the subject to prove it lolI mean, Dogmas apparently only became a thing after Heaven did her whole dome plan so I'm not sure how you would implement that.
Honestly my intention was never for the actual God to be real in it's proper time period lolActual Mythological God's arent real (in RP) so you can't make an actual Egyptian Godbest you could do is make an ability that thinks it's a God and the stupid citadel people would probably believe it, since there are similar abilities out there.
If i tweak the lore a bit, I could say God's are fragments of The Boundary turned to abilities, but aren't exactly 1:1 with any Mythological interpretation.
You're definitely not geeking. Eye accidentally posted it a bit too soon. Anyway, here it is.Either I'm geeking or you posted a character template and then deleted it.
Eye mean, Eye can introduce them now if you want. They can just be spying on the party from afar. There are eyes in the building after all.Looks fine to me.
Hoping to get the ball rolling tomorrow on conflict (or if you're a nerd, later today) just need some more activity and then it shouldn't be too long until you can start introducing guys.
Yeah, Eye should probably introduce them now. Some of the characters don't look like they'll be able to get out in time.If you wanted to, you could. I would not recommend introducing both of them at once however, so preferably pick whichever you wanna play right now and we can save the other guy for a bit later.
Eye guess she'll be introduced once the characters reach wherever Watcher is taking them?Azontr already approved this over discord, so I added it to the character list![]()
DaReaperMan/Aurum Argentea
fcoc-vs-battles.fandom.com
Either that or she'll fall into the alaskan bullworm and basically crash-land on the ship if not caught lolEye guess she'll be introduced once the characters reach wherever Watcher is taking them?
I mean that she'd crash land due to being possessed to essentially save herself lolWell the Mandjet isn't positioned directly under the thing's stomach opening so she'd just fall into the acids and die
In Aurum's case, it's weird, because the opposition here is that Aurum is used to living life in a bed or a chair, so now she's basically being forced into a world she doesn't understand, with terrain she doesn't know, and people she can't fathom the actions of.I've been thinking about something. Dogmas are meant to oppose the will of the user to instill their own will so wouldn't someone who has a Dogma that wants them to be a good person be considered evil at least to a certain degree?
What if the user has completely succumbed to the Dogma's will, like just doing whatever it wants them to?It really depends. Dogma's "opposing" their user doesn't necessarily mean doing the opposite of what they went at all times. It really depends on the specific Dogma's personality, if it has developed one, and what exactly is their "will." In most cases, it will be just making things harder for the user, but it could have a deeper plan.
So she's not necessarily evil, rather she just doesn't want to be forced into the role that they want her to play? That's honestly understandable. In Aurum's case, it's weird, because the opposition here is that Aurum is used to living life in a bed or a chair, so now she's basically being forced into a world she doesn't understand, with terrain she doesn't know, and people she can't fathom the actions of.
And she's being pushed to be a leader, to be a force for change.
