Most well written characters for every tier

Nah bro is really giving a generational wrestling performance. I was lucky enough to see both SmackDown and MitB in London this year and seeing the Bloodline Civil War live actually felt like watching history be made in wrestling.
Fr. The Bloodline Civil War match was immaculate.

I honestly feel like Jey Uso should be the one to dethrone Roman. The story basically started with him. It would make the most sense for it to end with him becoming the new Tribal Chief.

Cody can finish his story another time imo.

Yeah I feel like with how the story's been progressing it'd be better to end it with Jey rather than Cody.

I made an entire essay as to why Roman's character is amazing from a quality perspective

I mention the fact that Pro Wrestling's been relevant for over 4 decades because if you're still a popular franchise for that ******* long, you have to be doing something right.

Dropping over 40 years of straight trash and remaining popular is virtually unheard of. If a show, or any piece of media becomes popular, chances are that there's a large group of people who see value in the product, or find it a lot of fun to watch or play it.

Do you think shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy or Spongebob Squarepants are still popular over 2 decades later because they were ass?

That's when popularity somewhat plays a factor in determining a show's quality.
Y'know, last night, I considered writing up something to show you that people can like a thing a lot, that it can go on for a long time, without it necessarily having the best writing of all time, or even very good writing

and I wanted to use an example I liked while acknowledging how the writing is pretty much mass-produced chum, the fast food of the media world

and I was going to say Family Guy

because I find it funny even though the writing is shit

and now I see that you just can't actually know what good writing is, you don't got that dog in you

my condolences

Also the Roman Reigns slander I'm seeing in this thread is crazy, I'd love to see your fav MC top this monologue.

brother, I've heard better writing on ******* Law and Order lmao, hyping yourself up isn't some apex of writing

I don't buy into this whole "you can like something that's badly written" thing, the way I see it, there's something about the writing you enjoy if you like it

Also whether or not something's writing is "good" is not an objective measure anyway
yes you can lmao

Do you earnestly believe everything you've ever enjoyed has been a mastercraft of creation

not even just media, at this point, everything

I certainly wouldn't say so, for myself. What the hell would be the point of the phrase "guilty pleasure", then? I like ******* Dynasty Warriors which has gotta be in the running for the worst written characters of all time for whatever tier they exist in.

Now with that said, you're right. There isn't a fully objective measuring stick. But y'all don't really seem to be trying to measure at all, it's just, "i like this one it makes my brain happy : )" which is okay, but it takes mad copium to suggest some of these as the best written of all time. You could argue for centuries over which novel provides the best insight into the human condition while still being able to relay that to the reader, so yes, there isn't an objective measurement- but there is something approaching that.

Tbf, you can acknowledge something isn't good on a technical standpoint and still find it entertaining to watch.

I was mostly talking about how you don't really get pro wrestling like others do, but whatever floats your boat.

because I find it funny even though the writing is shit
Do you find it funny in an ironic way? Because if you think Family Guy is funny in an unironic way, then that literally means the show from your perspective has great comedic timing and can be funny as ****, which requires good writing.

I'm losing my mind that people can think this way lmfao

"you just don't get it, and if you do, then it's totes the best writing"

Doesn't have to be a mastercraft of creation, just written well enough to provide me with some form of entertainment
I certainly wouldn't say so, for myself. What the hell would be the point of the phrase "guilty pleasure", then? I like ******* Dynasty Warriors which has gotta be in the running for the worst written characters of all time for whatever tier they exist in.
I don't really believe in the concept of guilty pleasures tbh. The concept only really exists because people are too afraid of getting ass blasted by people who hate the concept of different opinions

There's a difference between "best written of all time" and simply "well-written."

I'm living in a world of madmen

The entire concept of guilty pleasures is "I like this thing, but I don't want people to find out because they don't like it"

I got nothing like that. I'm pretty unabashedly open about what I like

so do you feel this particular bit of the English language was just faked and you're somehow enlightened enough to be beyond such a notion?

"you just don't get it, and if you do, then it's totes the best writing"
Also, this is the definition of projecting.

I never said that "Oh, if you get pro wrestling, then you understand it's the best thing ever", I was saying that if you get pro wrestling, then you'd understand why people like it, and how it's still relevant all these years later. It was never about "You'd understand why it's good if you actually understood pro wrestling."

No, I just find it to be a ridiculous concept that only stems from the fact that some people hate opinions that don't align with their own

I've repeatedly said I get why people like it lol, I even said that it's designed to be about appealing to the broadest group of people possible, what

did everyone on the wiki just suddenly decide that today was Gaslight Day? It's happening in too many areas for this to be coincidental.

But you can, there are many other various reasons.
Not really. The only objective thing about something's writing is... well, the writing itself. Whether or not it results in someone finding it to be good, bad, or somewhere in between is a wholly subjective matter

Your criticized me for saying "Oh you don't get it, but if you did, it's totes the best writing."

I refuted your claim by saying that's not what I said or tried to imply, and that you're just putting words in my mouth.

Honestly I also like Family Guy but the newer seasons are shit.
I think the problem with shows like that is they go on for too long and start to get repetitive and bland, because the writers are struggling to come up with anything original or good.

This happens a lot when franchises get super popular. They end up continuing for the sake of continuing, and I'm not a fan of when this happens

Mr. Bambu's acting like a 70 yo grandpa rn, lmao

they kinda don't

don't get me wrong, i just know some stuff about character development, anything else i don't know much tbh

but what what i do know is people know nothing about what makes a character well written, literally nothing

chalk it up to naruto fans to call pain an " S tier villain" in terms of writing because they loved his dialogues

So are we gonna list all the characters per tier or are we just giving our thoughts on who we personally think is the best written per tier?

I

linked a game from 2016

as a potential for best writing lol

but the purpose of the thread is "best written characters of all time" and so far we're getting answers like

  • guys fighting every week for the same shit they fought for last week
  • Spider Man but not the old stuff, only the newest stuff, we like that one :)
  • Family Guy was not instantly dismissed

like

this is just certifiably unhinged if you live in the same real world I do lmao

Pain was a good villian for what type of show he was in

He at least has a reason for what he does and even states exactly why he thinks that way

The speeches he gives are kinda meant to be shallow since he only sees the world one way and justifies all his actions through the hardship he experienced

I'm not saying it's god tier but it's very high up for a Shonen aimed at mostly young teenagers

He's kind of a "baby's first good villian" for most people and that's why people bring him up in debates like this

Tbh this is kind of an arrogant claim, if people wanna say Pain is S tier that's their prerogative
i have no idea if it's arrogant and i did not intend for it to be so because i genuinely bleive they know nothing about how character development works, well, most people don't

i know because i've argued with a lot of them

Well from my PoV, claiming that someone knows nothing about good writing because they put a character in a tier you wouldn't put them in shows that kinda thing to me.

If that wasn't your intention I apologize

The fact the first sentence you said was "they kinda don't" tells me all I need to know.

Any person from any generation can learn and know what makes a character well written.

This comment just screams arrogance.

And here we go once again with dumbing things down and giving surface level judgments on things you know little about.
