Meruem vs. Roronoa Zoro

But zoro cannot counter meurems clones that have high regen and his other haxes

Not on the level of Meruem, no.
He has layered Fear Manipulation, and his mind and insanity manipulation is far more powerful than anything on One Piece. He literally made a Chimera age 100 years just by being slightly offensive with his Ren, on top of making numerous Top Tier Hunters flee.

If you think Zoro can resist that, you're tweaking.

His resistances to madness and mind manipulation are based on his willpower, and Zoro’s willpower is much higher than anyone else’s on the Extermination Team and much higher than Welfin’s. So I do believe that Zoro could resist it, given his willpower has allowed him to endure taking on Luffy’s pain compounded with his own. Not to mention he’s strengthened his spirit and Haki significantly after training with Mihawk.

That's not a fair comparison at all.

We can't compare mechanics from both verses like that.

Zoro's got a bigger willpower than everyone in the HxH cast, sure. But that doesn't mean he can just resist fear hax that doesn't depend on willpower. Your bodily functions literally die from exposure.

Meruem's fear manipulation is simply higher than anything Zoro has resisted, on top of being layered, as he outscales Killua who can bypass resistances.
 
If:

a) Meruem's fear hax is better than anything Zoro's ever shown resistance to
b) His fear and madness hax is layered

Then there's no reason to assume Zoro can resist it.

Op's fear manipulation is like,
"I'm paralyzed from fear"

HxH's can make people age 100 years just be feeling their killer aura, and force them to use 100% of their brain capacity just to find an excuse to get out of that situation.
 
I’d like to hear the opinions of other admins on this because I still believe Zoro could resist the effects of Ren.

It's literally limited death manipulation 😑 that's it... Zoro doesn't have resistance to death manipulation... Yet
 
This is certainly enlightening... before I joined VSBW, if you asked me something like Zoro vs Meruem, I'd tell you that Zoro would one-shot Meruem just by sheer power scaling of their respective verses...the way you guys nitpick analyze the matchups is so interesting.

Well it's because there is speed equal, bs and wanked abilities plus more... This isn't an average match up, vsbw matches gives you options to use to make it so they are able to fight each other, which at times can make it even unfair in some cases

That reminds me of when Cracker's fear inducement made homies instantly wither and die, and it was said that it was due to their extreme fear of him.
It really feels like a case of just lack of willpower of knowing you're thouroughly and entirely outmatched.

Edit: before anyone says it- I ain't saying Zoro resists. I know Nen crush is broken. I'm just pointing out a similiarity >>

It is that, but being outmatched doesn't cause you to age 500 years. Meruem was actually having killer intentions towards Welvin, and this triggers the hax.

This, on top of Meruem scaling above Puff, who can make Knov age just by having his aura touch him with no intentions due to how sinister it is, should solidify that Meruem did so through hax.

Resistance to Aura and all that should actually block out all nen effects, if you can block out aura from reaching you, it should block out the effect of nen
 
What was Zoro's feat for resistance to Aura, might i ask. I don't want this to be another "can't get cut by paper, thus sword slices are ineffective" situation.

Idk, don't think so but I would assume it's higher then zoro's punk hazard fear manipulation where he made monet (someone who isn't afraid to die) be afraid by Zoro and completely immobilizing her

if its unquantifiably higher then an aura merely making someone freeze due to fear then it is nowhere near Meruem's level.

People here are comparing a characrer which is highballed mountain vs a character who has Multi-Continent AP and FTL+ arguably base MFTL speeds ? Zoro damaged Kaido in his hybrid form whi has literal continental durability. No one in HxH can even put a scratch on Kaido. We are in vsbattle wiki. Are y'all that lazy to check the pages ? It literally says Meruem "High 7-C, up to Low 7-B with Ryu and Ko | 7-A" which translates to Mountain level+ (which is obviously bs since that was a slightly bigger rock). And Zoro "High 6-A, higher with Busōshoku Haki, even higher when unleashing Enma or with Kyutoryu, far higher with Ashura Bakkei: Moja no Tawamure | High 6-A, higher with Busōshoku Haki, even higher with Haoshoku Infusion, Kyutoryu, or when unleashing Enma, far higher with En-Ō Santōryū" which translate to Multi Continent level you can't even read ?.

Well, this match was made before OP was upgraded to High 6-A, so it's severely outdated. The death manipulation comes from the fact that individuals who don't protect themselves with Nen can be overwhelmed by the effects of hostile Ren. It basically comes from mental abilities: HxH's Nen is far more layered, at least Meruem's Ren specifically is, since it can age experienced Nen users who naturally have their own resistance to the mental effects of Ren. Meruem also typically uses hostile Ren in-character, so anybody who can't resist it will basically succumb to its effects. I think it's really stupid, but it's the rules. As the match is now, though, Zoro would indeed one-shot, so it's now a mismatch.
