For some reason I stopped getting notifications, but didn't Rusty like go over criteria and later had his doubts cleared up but then later posted again and forgot about some of his older posts?
I think he flip flopped over something. Have to ask him when he gets back. Right now, I'm focusing on using Ruby's silver eyes as a way to prove LS. What do you think so far of all the evidence I've gather so far?

Seems like it, and he's asleep right now but since then we've found several more points to argue in favor of lightspeed, such as the Spider Droid's laser being a particle beam and multiple outright statements of being light

At the 9:25 mark, we see the God of Light use the same kind of flash Ruby does to destory the Grimm, yet another connection between the him and the silver eyed warriors.

What were the points for Silver Eyes?

As for the other parts, I recall being made of Light Dust was an argument, they go in straight lines, Penny's lasers are machine generated, what else was there?

Also, again we see the creatures of Grimm react to the flash before it hits them.

Lasers in RWBY being made of natural light (due to being derived from light dust, which is natural light) or being fully mechanical in nature (one of the main basises for being lightspeed), with light dust also being used to make cameras work (one of the main basises for being lightspeed and literally the example used to prove lightspeed), the lasers in the verse reflecting off of reflective surfaces (one of the main basises for being lightspeed), moving exclusively in straight lines, burning and cutting rather than generating force, and being described as particle beams (which were recently agreed to be lightspeed by default), as well as blatant statements of dodging light as was just brought up.

The Silver Eyes emit a bright flash of light that is strongly implied to be a part of the God of Light, who created humanity and light as a whole. Thus, it can be said that the silver eyes emit natural light and can be used for SoL arguments. I posted the pieces of evidence in the thread.

GoL literally created the Silver Eyed Warriors it said so

Rusty still disagrees going by his most recent evaluation.

Calling something a laser is unimportant, regardless of who says it. Or else every single Sci-Fi story with lasers would instantly be considered lightspeed.

Moving in a straight line or being unable to touch them is not proof of anything. Not having anti-feats is irrelevant, since you need to prove it in the first place. "Please note that the opposite of these criteria do not prove a beam is at lightspeed, merely that it could be, should it meet the first list of criteria."

  • The beam refracts in a new material, such as a liquid or... (Nothing of the sort has been shown. I've explain my issues with Winter's magic ice wall thing)
  • The beam diffuses in a reasonably realistic way or reflects off a material that it can be expected to, such as a non-magical mirror. (Has not been shown)
  • The beam is called lightspeed by reliable sources. (No such statement has been provided)
  • It is stated to be composed/consisting of photons or light itself, again by a reliable source. (No such statement has been provided)
  • It has its origin at a realistic source of light, such as a camera. (Velvet's camera flash is unrelated to Penny's weapons for the reasons explained above)
Right now the current RWBY "lasers" don't have anything to suggest it moves at lightspeed.

The people attempting to prove these lasers are lightspeed MUST uses these guidelines above to prove it. At least three of them are needed in general from what I've heard. However stronger evidence such as a being stated it's lightspeed or made out of photons are more acceptable than reflecting off a reflective surface.

Ruby's Semblance has ZERO reason to be brought up in this discussion whatsoever. Breaking herself down to her molecular components does not make her lightspeed. Nor does it have any relevance to Penny's laser. Anything unrelated to this topic should be dropped, do not bring up pointless material.

I personally still do not see the lasers in RWBY as being lightspeed.

Need someone with the directors commentary to see if they say anything about the lasers

But that requires the Blu rays

Anyway, I think it might be best to wait for Rusty to come back, because back in the 1st page, Rusty showed signs of agreeing but suddenly U-turned and forgot what was going on. And multiple staff members agreed with an old post without realizing that Rusty was about to change his mind. As for "Particle beams" they can hint but not really full proof evidence of being light; as it could just mean the lightspeed particle generators to form the beam rather than the beam itself being lightspeed.

But either way, perhaps we should wait for Rusty to come back and show him some more concise details that line up.

well more so particle cannons

I still think that the Silver Eyes might be the best way to go for now considering how many times and how often they are referred to as light. Along with more clear cut examples of monsters and Cinder reacting to them.

So, as of right now, how many people are on board with LS RWBY? With both the silver eyes argument or the particle cannon argument. I want to do a head count real fast.

Also, how much weight does Rusty's opinion hold around here?

Well @Dalesean027 also commented, and Rusty was more or less being the calc group most elaborate. But either way his input is most appreciated when he has time to go over in lengthy purposes.

I mean I personally don't think there's really anything to contend with regarding the silver eyes like its flat out stated numerous times to be light and literally originates from the God of Light who is actually FTL so like....I'd like to hear why it wouldn't be light
