Reishi doesn’t contain reiatsu at all, it contains reiryoku which, when exerted outwards, becomes reiatsu.

i must disagree here,by Shunsui statment its Reiatsu within Reishi

Right so more reiryoku = higher ranking and higher ranking = stronger than the guys below = more reiatsu.

its over simplified.Again 3 other statments bring up different reasons for ranking.

Translation:
A group of Arrancars that have both overwhelming abilities and efficiency/true strength.Lower the number that is given the more powerful Espada is.

圧倒的 - overwhelming

能力 - ability; capability; capacity; faculty; - that is Kanji Kubo used to describe unique abilities like Respira,Starrk soul cutting etc.

実力 - (real) ability; true strength; merit; efficiency; competency

Second statment in UNMASKED

殺戮能力を表す十刃の数字

破面の中で殺戮能力が特に秀でている10人。その中から能力の高い順に数字が与えれ、 破面最強の戦闘集 団“十刃”が結成された。

Translation:

So ranking are reiryoku+unique abilities+skill.And yes Bleach rules is that reiryoku/reiatsu could make "weak" abilities stronger,like Bala with great reiatsu could be more powerful than Cero with low reiatsu.But we also saw how abilities could overcome some limitations of reiatsu:Barragan and Starrk abilities hypothetically being able to harm Cien or Roca/Nelliel with their Cero Doble or WW strengthened his unique abiliti to seal ryujin jakka

i never said that correlation isnt a thing.I said 2 characters with equal Reiryoku can have diffrent Reiatsu density and one would be stronger that another.And also abilities play huge role,when Reiatsu are similar.

Rangiku struggle to lift 225 poundes with 2 hands while Jidanbo lift enormous Gate.Him being weaker than her does not meant his physical strength isnt impressive
