Touhou Discussion Rule Proposal

Saikou's old explanation blog (which is still on the verse page for some reason) does a decent enough job of debunking it, despite its age. But that doesn't really stop people from bringing it up, so at this point I do think a rule is more appropriate.

If any speed related thing in Touhou needs an explanation blog, though, it'd be infinite speed. That has a lot of common misconceptions floating around and requires a lot more context than I can reasonably put on a profile.

If a topic has beaten to death multiple times before, I see no reason why we should keep honoring it with actual debate. There's gotta be a line where continuing to argue against the same fallacious points just isn't sustainable. I would rather not have any more speed threads plagued by the kind of reasoning that basically every Touhou supporter here agrees is blatantly wrong, especially not when we have more important things to focus on.

The blog's basically always been there, is my point. So if the existence of a blog debunking their points AND the fact that said points are almost universally agreed to be wrong isn't enough to stop people from bringing up the same shit, what step do we take next?

Seems fine at a glance if people really like to beat the dead horse this much even with the blog right in front of their eyes.

I'm not an expert on the verse, however what's being proposed seems okay. Are there any mods that are knowledgeable on the verse that can be pinged here?

Probably best to let her be.
I guess getting Crimson's opinion is all that's really needed. If they agree to it too, it should be fine to implement.

I don't see an issue with the rule since it's shown the statement is false on multiple occasions. If it's really being brought up that much then a rule is fine.

I agree with the others, the proposed rule is fine to me.

I'm not knowledgeable about Touhou, like at all, but the premise of this is all too familiar.
You have something that's been debunked countless times, yet certain people will always cling to it and bring it up over and over again. This will only create pointless, tired, and exhausting debates. As such, I feel like a discussion rule is appropriate.

Even more than that, it reflects off of mirrors as shown in her fight against Yorihime, and at least one spell card description says it is made of light. Plus, Marisa herself calls it light speed on two occasions.

Talk about blog, why don't you also re-new Saiko blog, that pretty dated. Like what i did with DBH and DBXV, me and others re-new the cosmology with scaling chain blog (granted there is some misinformations on the old blogs though)

That's a future goal, but holy shit that'd require so much more effort than I am equipped to handle. Plus, I have enough WIP threads that if I were to make a blog, it'd probably be outdated mere days or weeks later. Basically I think we shouldn't focus on a new blog until the major revisions are done (or close to it), and that won't be for a long time.
