Did Toriyama have any involvement with that guide? Or is just a random licensed guide done by like shueisha or something.

It's just a compilation of Daizenshuu information with some new tidbits and some interviews with Toriyama.

Though we don’t go fully to “Death of the Author” levels, I’m pretty sure we generally don’t take author statements if they’re contradicted by what’s depicted. In this case, since we have a calced value based on the throw angle, we’d probably consider that over an author statement. That said, the calc is based on the assumption that the travel’s done in a single throw, so if there’s any reason to doubt that this figure might be more accurate (since it lines up with the stated distance over stated time).
