Do we really need these profiles here? The verse may be an official release, but it's borderline a youtube/tv personality. I mean hey, why not also make a page for Filty Frank hm? I think we need to delete this. Everything else is purely fictional, theoretical, or real life. Some people consider everything Adam says to be factual. No one in their right mind however, would tell you Naruto Uzumaki is real.

I agree. That seems like it belongs on JBW and remember Ryukama said not everything on JBW is joke related. This just seems to controversial, similar to religious profiles.
 
It isn't badly made, finds a suprising amount of use and toon force like stuff is usually used for rankings.

That it is political isn't a problem as long as it isn't involved in our disucssions. I mean many franchises have some thought of political worldview presented and favoured in them.

So I don't have a problem with the profile.
 
That's still a double standard. AVGN is purely a fictional character with feats yet isn't allowed. Why is Adam allowed but not the Nerd? Shouldn't we only accept profiles with a coherent continuity (excluding real life pages)?

I understand lots of users including staff wants to have fun with profiles and verses, but there seems to be a double standard here.
 
Regardless, we do seem to be making exceptions for certain verses when the rules about what verses are and aren't allowed should be the most strictly enforced. Otherwise I could argue we can make profiles for real life athletes just because.
 
Exactly. Why not include Ronald McDonald? He has comic and video game adaptations. What about Cereal Mascots like Lucky or the Trix Rabbit? The Cocoa Puffs bird is clearly at least Wall level. Kool-Aid Man is Wall level. Feats don't give something the go ahead to be acceptable or not.

Where's the line? I don't see it. How are those not allowed yet Adam Conover is?
 
My main problem is how close to a Youtuber persona he is. The main intent of the show clearly isn't its storyline but the actual content (With a vague storyline containing that). It is also how the fourth wall seems non-existent. It has been brought up several times that Adam's "powers" are only Special Effects and such.

The only difference between a regular commentator of a show with Special Effects and Adam is that for the latter, his "powers" are lampshaded occasionally. Overall I feel like Adam's profile is very borderline.
 
Either we:

A. Allow these types of profiles as a whole

B. Don't accept these types of profiles whatsoever.

There is no in-between because it certainly isn't fair.
 
Totally agree with Sera. We can't keep being so wishy-washy on how this rule is applied when it is meant to be one of the main rules.

We have three wikis.

VSBW, FC/OC, and JBW. How come the main wiki is the only one with controversial status regarding what's allowed and what isn't? What part of "only notable works of fiction" is not understood? Real life profiles are ok (like for animals and vehicles) but no religion and no youtube/tv personalities. And finally, no controversial/nonsensical verses like Suggsverse.
 
I for one would rather we not have profiles like these, as it paves the way for more talkshow-esque profiles (the likes of reality warping nonsense Connover does) entering this wikia. This is disregarding the political stuff about it.

In that case you would have to delete Bugs Bunny (and similar), since their feats are mostly gathered from unrelated short stories without continuity, I believe (not that I would even mind since I don't particularly like those guys in the context of vs-battles characters, but that aside).

I mean we have after some discussion, and initially not allowing it, somehow allowed a character based on a comic a single page web comic allowed to stay (I really don't understand why...).

We also have characters from Youtube shows (though this should probably be deleted).


To get on topic of the rules again, the only rule regarding this currently is "All characters in VS Battles wiki profiles should originate within actual stories, from notable or popular works.", as far as I am aware.

Given that there are short stories, and that it is popular and debatably notable I don't think the rule prohibits the profile here.


So essentially in the current state of rules I see no reason to delete it. As inconsistent as the rule is applied (due to vague formulation, I suppose) I don't even consider it an exceptional case.

The rules might need to get more specific, though. But changing the rules has to come first then.
 
Exactly Gemmy, what Adam did is no diffrrent than AVGN and his movie at least is an actual movie. But he's a youtube personality so he isn't allowed....but Adam is...where's the logic behind this?

I also agree that Adam Connover should preferably be moved to the Joke Battles wiki. Othervise it will open the door for a lot more real world celebrities and YouTube personalities.
 
We can probably delete his profile here then.
 
Seems like Adam is going to be removed. It's a shame, I'll miss him. I had a few more match-ups in mind to.
