Adam Conover Profile Deletion

Well, I do not think that you should take it as a big deal that we simply move the profile. The integrity of the overall regulations that ensure the coherent structure of this wiki are far more important.

An accurate 10-B profile of a legit franchise isn't messing with the coherent structure as a wiki.

Reason I'm taking it as a big deal is that apparently when I get involved with a franchise it winds up as controversial, and this isn't different.

This isn't about you, it is just about that this opens the door for lots of celebrity hosts and YouTube personalities. That's it.

Speaking as the one who has to constantly deal with members demanding more inappropriate pages as soon as they find a loophole, it does in fact harm the integrity of our regulations.

Anyway, I have removed the two Adam Ruins Everything pages.

I'm sorry Cal. I understand what you mean, but how is it accurately 10-B if he's 7-A via reality warping?

I actualy feel bad now...Ant is right though. Members keep asking for more and more inappropriate stuff all the time. Someone asked me earlier if they could make profiles for a hentai anime as long as they "censor" certain pictures. That's how crazy it gets...

@cal

Chuck Norris's book-Which is OFFICIALLY PUBLISHED-Has a legit High 6-A feat. But we don't have a profile about him for obvious reasons.

@Cal This literally has nothing to do with you personally. Like at all. It ain't like we are on some sort of agenda to mark all your favorite verses as controversial.

No, my apologies if you take this personally, but it definitely isn't intended as such. Lots of verses in this wiki are controversial. Othervise there wouldn't be up to 50 different content revision threads for me to deal with every day.

There is no loophole that exists which would allow a random youtube personality to be present here if we allowed the likes of lets say AVGN, especially if we only use his official video game/movie incarnations. Infact, I'm okay with using those exclusively. The same would apply to Adam Conover providing he is a character present in a tv series; his profile be based around that only.

I agree with AMM and DT. I don't see much reason why Adam shouldn't be on the site.

His powers and abilities are an actual canon thing within the storyline. It's not like he just says stuff and visuals are popping up. Adam explicitly has these things which are constantly referred to in verse.

With his powers being canon, we're able to make an accurate profile based on what he does with these with them.

Adam may be named after himself, but he is still a fictional character within this show. Are self-inserts or characters based upon real life people not allowed now?

Adam Ruins Everything starting off as a YouTube show doesn't really matter, as it has since become an actual television series. His profile is using an actual form of media. Also that's kind of why we allow RWBY, as it transcends just a YouTube series, even though it technically is still a YouTube series.

As for "what about AVGN", I don't particularly see a problem with using only sources like his official movie or video game. This is not an exception, and allowing this can't lead to crap like Filthy Frank and JonTron getting profiles.

Adam making a joke about the budget of the show once isn't relevant when you have stuff like Bugs Bunny, that Rat and Popeye who have violated the 4th wall to no end at this point.

But I'm fine with whatever the rest of you decided. Those are just my thoughts.

To be fair, RWBY is a web-series, not a youtube-series, as it starts out in the RT website, and then posted on youtube.

So a show from the internet is fine as long as it comes from a site other than YouTube? Alright.

All my other points still stand though.

Either we:
A. Allow these types of profiles as a whole

B. Don't accept these types of profiles whatsoever.

There is no in-between because it certainly isn't fair.
Probably late for this, but hey.

I think personally the second one is better

Because then we will have to add alot of other characters from just youtube personalities on here and that will be hard to deal with.

Also, does anyone even go on here thinking "Hurr I wonder what Adam Conover's attack potency is."

I didnt even know we had a page on him until like a few weeks ago, and I love his show and I check this wiki everyday,

Again, this slippery slope doesn't work when there are clear differences between Adam's case and other YouTube things.

Also what relevence does you not knowing this page existed have? It's still an informative, accurate page. Which is what the wiki strives to have, regardless if some people might not personally know or care about every page. And like Ant said, an advantage to this site against other copy cats is that we have a massive variety and numer of profiles.

Two things:

1. A few links to the deleted pages have to be removed as well. I would do it myself, but some amount is locked.

2. As mentioned no matter which decision, I believe that we should update the rules about what is allowed on the wiki into a clearer formulation to avoid such borderline cases in the future. (Then again, maybe we should debate that in a staff thread...)

Just because it has clear differences, doesn't mean people will not ask about it.

Uhh, anecdotal I guess? Are you okay Ryukama? You sound like you are getting defensive about my story of Adam Ruins Everything and my quest on this wiki

Okay, if you want a more accurate story.

Remember the Adam vs Alex match? What was the point of it? In a way, what I am getting at is where is the filthy frank, avgn, etc etc profiles

You may not agree and that is okay

For the record, I can go with either kicking the profile out the window or not.

I just think that it is a weird addition.

I can accept it sure, but I seriously question how many people come to see Adam's stats.

Or any internet persona for that matter.

And yes I know it is a series on trutv but it doesn't change the fact it had internet roots

...or we can keep the profiles and create guidelines for internet/tv personalitys profile creation, I am fine with either lol. I havent slept today so I am loopy

"Just because it has clear differences, doesn't mean people will not ask about it."

So we should just not keep valid profile, just because others will ask for invalid ones?

"Are you okay Ryukama? You sound like you are getting defensive about my story of Adam Ruins Everything and my quest on this wiki"

I'm not upset. I'd never get personally angered just over a fictional character on this site, or have anything against someone who simply disagrees with me. You don't have to worry about that.

I'm simply saying that you personally not knowing or caring about a page is irrelevent. There are literally thousands of pages here I have never heard of or literally couldn't care any less about. That doesn't mean I'm going to use that as grounds to delete those profiles.

"In a way, what I am getting at is where is the filthy frank, avgn, etc etc profiles"

I don't mind AVGN as long as his official games and movies are used. FilthyFrank and other YouTubers are, again, a clearly different case.

"And yes I know it is a series on trutv but it doesn't change the fact it had internet roots"

So if something originated on the internet, but has since transcended that and become a new form of media, that's still not allowed? Bye bye RWBY and One Punch Man.

if their is a clear differnece betweem the persona and the character then whats the problem?

@Shadow What I am saying is that a shortlived YouTube series, that then became it's own television series like Adam is much different than something like making a profile for a YouTube persona with random skits like FilthyFrank or JonTrin.

Yes. But like I said I am fine with whatever the rest of staff decides upon, and completely and 100% respect Ant's wishes.

Just giving my personal input since several people asked for it.

i mean in all honesty you should able to create a pewdiepie profile as long as it follows the video game version of the character?. as long as its a proper series with characters it shouldn't matter if it comes from the internet.

I agree with Ryukama and DT, in the past we've really never had any issue(at least from what I've seen.) with Adam Conovers profile, the only time I've seen people discuss a controversy over his profile is why we don't accept AVGN(a movie/game incarnation obviously.) profile with all his proper feats an all, and this was all discussed in chat mind you not in a CRt or another thread. And before this the only person who had a troubling issue with Conovers profile was Antvasima.

@LoyalServantInfiniti, I'm sorry just becasue content within a verse has beliefs you don't agree with doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed RL politics or not. Theirs 100s of profiles here that have verses with mythology's that put Satan in a Good light or kill off God or just make him straight up the Bad guy and I've never once complained about or even remotely had the thought of removing the profiles here. Lots of fictional verses have some element of political bias in their shows, some are just more visible than others(look at the WW2 videos of Donald Duck from Disney or how some fictional verses portray other countries.) if you don't like Adam Convoers show, than just don't watch it.

The reason someone like Chuck Norris is unable to get a profile her and other similar characters like him are for one core defining reason. They all started off as memes or jokes on the Internet in some way. Chuck Norris career and persona literally skyrocketed because of his jokes and memes to the point he was able to create a book about his favorite jokes. So his profile would not only be controversial but potentially problematic.

Meanwhile Adams show may have started off as a web series. But now it's own Proper show that has long retconned its own web series and has its own real plot and action and follows basically everything needed to be allowed on the site. He wasn't born a meme nor is a meme ouside his show and I know a lot of people enjoy his profile being here and have a lot of fun debating with it.

I firmly state that I Stan day the idea of keeping his profile here as before this saw no problem with having his profile here.

I'm also okay with the AVGN profile being here as long as only the games and video game incarnations are used and for maybe ants sake a footnote wither on the profile or in the front VSB page discussing the existence of a profile like his. Saying YouTube only profiles and other strictly RL profiles are not allowed and maybe if these characters are what's known as a popular joke character on the Internet we also don't allow for the prevention of potential controversy. And list the small but straightforward reasons why a AVGN and Adam conover exist or something. His character is something I know a lot of staff wanted to have and were more than ready to make it and carefully watch over it.

Well, as I mentioned earlier, the problem here is not the profile in itself, or even its Internet roots, but that it opens the door for allowing any TV or YouTube show host that appears as themselves with a slightly exaggerated personality.

This is not a character from a coherent storyline, with a fictional background, which are basic requirements in our regulations, but rather simply somebody starring as himself in an edutainment show. It makes about as much sense to feature this page as Bill Nye the Science Guy.

I think Adam is much more like Magic School Bus. Of course not in the sense that he's as "fictional." But each episode has short stories and plotlines that tie in to the education. Along with past events from episodes being referenced at times. And as said, Adam's powers are an actual canon thing that exists within the story. But again, I'm fine with whichever.

Well, I personally think that your wiki Joke Battles is better suited for this sort of profile.

I'm fine with that like I said. I just don't see much reason why it can't be here, but I completely respect your wishes 100%.

Okay. Thank you for being reasonable. Is anybody else willing to remove the links to the "Adam Conover" and "Adam Ruins Everything" pages? I am very busy with the daily backlog.
