Gourmet Gods

I understand the "possibly Universe level" in their profile, since there is a hint of them being the reason of the universes' colors... but why "Galaxy" level? They were stated to be around a "galaxy" with 10 light-years of diameter.

We need the Kanji translation ASAP, official editors have made mistakes in the past on other mangas with numbers.

Seems weird to me that the author of toriko would draw them being as large as an entire galaxy and then state they are only 10 lightyears when even the smallest galaxy ever discovered is a couple hundred lightyears, especially when the galaxy they are as large as is the milky way.

We all know how in toriko the author is very precise in telling how strong his characters are and giving numbers, seems weird he would mess this up.

The translation error in this text is "milky way", not "10 light years". It was simply referred to as a "galaxy" (ginga - Úèǵ▓│).

Don't know, there are no galaxy that is 10 light years with exception if the series was explain it like in case for man in black.

Pretty much this, here is the page. Heck, he even puts "galaxy" like if it was a quote. which probably means it was a "galaxy-like thing"

Well, if the drawing shows the characters to be larger than a galaxy, I think that it seems likely that the author simply threw in a random number, without looking up the actual size of galaxies.

Hard to accept since Shima basically loves throwing specific numbers (and usually accurate ones) that are used for calcs.

Yeah, just made the calc on a few sites around here and with a 220.000km circunference, it would be about 200 times larger (in volume) than our Earth (198 to more precise).

This "galaxy" thing is a much bigger mistake tough, since in Don's attack he states that a real supernova would destroy life in a few light-years of diamter. Really difficult to imagine Shima thinking that a real supernova destroys life on half of our galaxy

IF it isn't a translation error, then the Gorumet Gods should be Solar System+ level, since it's 10 light years long. Even our solar system is about 2 llight years

It's clearly a mistake. You're grapsing thin air in an attempt to downplay. He used the Kanji Úèǵ▓│ which means Milky Way Galaxy. The Milky Way is not 10 light years.

Which it did, since is called a "10 light-years diameter galaxy".

But this discussion is almost pointless, it's not like those Gods even scale to anyone anyway

it not an explanation as there are no 10 light-years diameter galaxy its more like threw a number that he even dosent know, also we never talk about scale them to anyone anyway.

Ginga (Úèǵ▓│) can mean any type of galaxy, not just the Milky Way. I deal with it all the time when I translate Saint Seiya - Úèǵ▓│þêåþáò (Galaxian Explosion)

@Tivanenk Do you have any suggestions? The problem is that the gourmet gods were apparently drawn as being larger than a galaxy, so I am not sure what to do.

@Antvasima They were drawn to be bigger than a galaxy, but we know that the galaxy itself is really small, due to Mitsutoshi, so we can safely scale from the size of that galaxy to conclude that it is 4-A level.

Okay. Does anybody want to adjust their statistics, along with providing an appropriate explanation?

Before we do actually adjust their stats, should we check the raw version before doing so? This wouldn't be the first time a manga automatically give specific numbers like that especially if the author did unknowingly throw out random numbers like that so best to wait until we get more info unless the author did it on purpose.

I think we being a bit too quick on adjusting stats when we should compare the raw version to the translated version to check if there is indeed a error here.

Can we just asked it to Shima twitter or facebook? I mean no galaxy is 10 light years, so there are possibility he just mess up with his numbers.

Yes do that on twitter please.

Someone Else need to do that as I don't know anything about japanese word, I mean in my high school I get some japanese lesson which I don't give a **** as I see no point for studying them.. which is now apparently i can use to translate some of the raw manga that I read lol.

I've already checked the Jap RAWs earlier on in this thread. It does say 10 light year galaxy.

Databook should do it, but I guess we can also wait until we see the official databook to upgrade them back to galaxy... :/

or someone else directly ask to Shima on twitter lol.

Cant this "10 Light year" thing be regarded as an inconsistency? Those beings are said to have created universes through their appetite energy, there is no way they are only 4-A.
