Mario & Rabbids revision

Long story short, literally nothing suggests the game is canon. The Marioverse not having a canon dosn't mean any crossover is automatically canon. By that logic Super Smash Brothers is 100% canon to the Marioverse.

As such, Rabbid Mario and Megabug can't scale to the main cast and the main cast can't get abilities from the game.

"The Mushroom Kingdom has been torn apart by a mysterious vortex, transporting the chaotic Rabbids into this once-peaceful land. To restore order, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi must team up with a whole new crew: four Rabbids heroes! Together, they will battle with weapons through four worlds filled with combat, puzzles, and unpredictable enemies.

Developed exclusively for the Nintendo SwitchÔäó system, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is the best of the Mario and Rabbids franchises, combining all that you love about Mario's iconic universe with the side-splitting antics of the Rabbids.

Mario & Rabbids universes collide in this new adventure that combines the best of these two worlds!

Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi join forces with four Rabbids heroes with their own unique personalities.

Easy to play, difficult to master. Solo and co-op turn-based combat is a fresh gameplay experience.

Battle with an arsenal of weapons through four new worlds filled with enemies, puzzles, and humorous fun!

Pick up and play anywhere exclusively on the Nintendo Switch system, even on the go."

Disagree with op for the bolded, its clearly outright the same iconic cano universe referenced that appears in each Mario game up till that point and the same Mario we know appears in each prior game according to WOG stating both so....pretty much debunked.

The Smash Bros. series actually shows that the respective game universes in the game aren't of the same canon anyway due to numerous trophy descriptions outright distinguishing that along with obvious lore discrepencies from everything to character heights and etc.Olimar and Kirby being both similar heights and similar to normal human's heights, need I say more?

it's still a Crossover game, it would need more proof than just taking place in the same setting for it to be considered cano
That is the definition of canon if its being called the same setting as prior games have taken place in as to opposed to the setting merely looking the same.

Same official DK appearing the DLC.

"Since this project first started, I've been very excited to see what kind of humor the Rabbids could bring to the Mario world. And so, when I met Davide-san, who is the creative director of this game," - Miyamoto

Miyamoto certainly doesn't treat the prexisting Mario's world here as something like an alternative canon than what currently exists for his game continuity. He's the same Mario throughout his world.

Q: "So there are multiple Links, but is it always the same Mario?" A: "Yes.", "Just like Mickey Mouse."

And usually you need evidence providing that an ongoing series has contradictions to show canon divisions, in this case it continues on from the existing world so.

@Mephistus

You do understand you are literally using the exact same reasoning people use for Smash Bros to be canon, right? And you know that's been rejected contless times?

The fact that its differentiated in Smash and said to take place in the same universe in this case is evident.

Its not the same reasoning at all.

"Mario World" clearly means the franchise. You're bending Mr. Miyamoto's words.

I mean, it's not always the same Mickey Mouse so that's a terrible example By this quote, you intend to say that every single crossover Mario's ever appeared in is canon. If you apply it to this, you need to apply it to everything. Needless to say, no.

no, it only would apply to the games set in his local universe, story due to that comment.

sorry, but this rationale and false analogy to smash bros isn't gonna to split up a game referenced as part of his games continuity / Donkey kongs

have fun convincing cal, dino, or ddm on here tho

M8. Those people are Mario fans, but they also don't like bullshit crossover scaling. If they did, Smash Bros would be considered canon by now. If you honestly think that Cal, Dino or DDM will blindly support anything that buffs Mario, then you are greatly insulting their characters.

@smash

lel, not at all bashing them like u say. you can look back on the previous threads with their input about how canon for mario is treated on this site. the game explicitly said to be taking place in the same universe by multiple sources is whats gonna fly here, its been treated as canonical on the site since it came out due to such factors posted.

heres smores just for good measure ig

Like Nintendo's own page for the game backs up, it takes place in Mario's universe; there isn't some alternate non-canon version being used or referenced here: "By the time we went to Kyoto proposing the weapons, we got the approval from Miyamoto the very first time," Soliani said. Ubisoft's depiction of the weapons made a difference. "Every time you are proposing something crazy to Nintendo, they are quite open-minded," Soliani explained. "But you need a good justification and a good logic to create something in the Mario universe."

Like Nintendo's own page for the game backs up, the very first Mario game made was Donkey Kong by Mr. Miyamoto beginning the game series created and referenced here too that is the same iconic Mario and cohesive universe appearing in his world in this Rabbid's game.

"Mr. Miyamoto was very clear from the start, since there are already many Mario games that we needed to find something very new for the player, something very surprising, that could balance the crazy and chaotic world of the Rabbids with the beautiful world that Mr. Miyamoto has created through the years with Mario."

I agree with Mephistus. Smash Bros clearly isn't the same universe as Mario at all, whereas Mario + Rabbids is the Mario universe crossing paths with the Rabbids universe

@Dino Ranger Black

The pressing issues here are that the new Rabbids characters appearing in the game keep their powerscaling from canon base mario characters statistics and that the canon mario cast keep access to new weaponry and abilities showcased in said game.

Megabug's already going through revisions but his MegaDragon state is basically canon Bowser amped and fighting the canon chars so yeah, obvious for what his stats oughta get based upo for that form besides being unknown. technically it'd also matter if he's rated and upgraded higher than what the cast currently go by for 4-C / 4-A feats since scaling exists back to the cast since his relevant statements/feats are being argued as tier 2 level even prior to MegaDragon state.

I'm neutral here, but I will say that the Smash Bros example is false equivalency. Mario does have a non-linear canon in which every Mario game on a Nintendo or mobile platform published by Nintendo is canon. Though, that doesn't quite include crossovers like the Olympic Games nor does it include stuff like Fortune Street (A Mario meats Dragon Quest style Monopoly game). As for the Rabbids crossover, I'm unsure and kind of neutral; but they do tend to be more referenced than other crossovers. It would at the very least have "One-sided crossover connections". Meaning Mario is definitely canon to the Rabbids crossover game even if the crossover isn't canon to other Mario games.

So basically this, I do think Rabbid Mario being comparable to Base Mario is fine, and that Megabug scaling from his own feat; it was loosely said he was merging their universes iirc. But I would avoid making Megabug scale to any canon Mario character. Based on a combination of possible outliers + unsure canonical connection.

ye the connections i've posted here from Miyamoto himself on continuity covering that concern making it two sided since we have Nintendo's input. If it was just Ubisoft devs words on the matter then it'd be less of an authority on the matter and one sided.The Megabug would be in the same boat as Culex being an outlier. It's ignored for scaling curently for convenience.
