I've just thought this may be an amazing match after reading/watching some Kimetsu no Yaiba.

  • Speed is equalized
  • Witcher 3 Geralt and Post-Rehabilitation Training Tanjirou are used
  • 10 meters apart
  • Geralt has little knowledge on Tanjirou's breathing abilities. (to avoid blitz)
Who wins?

Mainly Quen, defensive Witcher sign. When opponent goes for CQC he uses Yrden, which makes a ring that slows down everything in it. He also can use Aksji to knock opponent unconscious for few seconds and freely attack them.

Tanjirou has technique advantage. But he is not accustomed to hurt humans which Geralt doesn't have second thoughts with.

Geralt doesn't hesitate when kill is necessary. Geralt has far more fighting experience though.

Geralt absolutely nails it when it comes to combat experience here, since he's older and all.

Tanjirou doesn't seek to kill humans, but he will fight them if he feels like he must, like Sanemi. Anyways, Tanjirou starts with extended melee ranged Regen Negging strikes, and if not that, his base Water Breathing techniques.

Eh, Geralt is a mutated human but regardless, Tanjirou still has the stat amp to boot.

I'll work on getting the wall feat of Dettlaff calc'd once I get proper pics of it.

Tanjirou can continously amp himself with Breath of Change if needed, or reflect anything he can't handle alone. Reflection isn't on the profile yet, meaning to add it.

Quen also reflects attacks back at opponents. It's a forcefield that if gets hit = enemy gets his own attack reflected at him with 50% of it's force. Also with Blizzard he can slow time after slaying enemy. And with Aksji he can freely hit Tanjirou for few seconds.

Yeah but if he hits Quen forcefield he's going to have wound on his body instantly.

He uses them very often. Geralt and Witchers overall always use their Signs during fights because it's most useful way of attacking. And they always amp themselves before and during battles.

Also I'll explain how Aksji works

Geralt draws a sign in the air that instantly makes you unconscious, it doesn't require eye contact and there's no time to dodge it, and he can freely attack his opponent during it. So Tanjirou's smell is not going to help him with this one.

Also by drawing a sign in the air. Pretty quickly. Of course forcefield disappears once someone hits him (when it's basic Quen)

Edit: Ninja'd

The effectiveness of Axii Sign depends on willpower. The Witcher 3 guidebook states:

Axii can also be used in conversations with other characters in some cases, though some people are strong willed and can resist it. Avoid this by investing Ability Points in the Delusion ability. This opens new options and possibly resolves a matter more peacefully, if not just making the ensuing fight easier with one threat temporarily removed.

Geralt slowing himself down to cast it won't be worth it if the effect is broken momentarily.

Quen with Exploding Shield is a bigger problem, but Tanjiro's analytical skills should be able to figure out the trick after seeing it once/twice, and he can break the shield safely using his extended melee range to avoid the shockwave that pushes enemies and damages them. Don't think Tanjiro can break through active shield though, when upgraded Geralt can hold it indefinetly and attacking the shield heals Geralt, so it would be very useful if Geralt is cornered or wants to slowly retreat.

Also there are still other Witcher signs, Yrden, Igni, Aard. They should work too. Max level Aard is omnidirectional and freezes everything around iirc

To start off with the pros of both

Kamado: Resistance Geralts Igni and can negate geralts Regenerationn, adding to that he can amp his attacks which would deal a lot more damage and he has better senses as i am aware

Geralt: A lot more skilled than kamado, Physically Superior, Quen can protect geralt against mini meteors, it also can reflect 50% of damage that it has taken plus it has a shockwave that stuns most men and monsters alike, Yrden can slow down enemies that pass it's borders and in alternative mode it can strike enemies 10 yards away (Basically where both are starting), and axii which makes an opponent vulnerable to attacks

So from what i've gathered if geralts tries to use axii it's an instant win considering geralt always goes for the crits

Gribble makes sense, also, holy shit Tanjiro has no resistance to Mind Manip so Axii would definitely work here. Going for Geralt via Gribble's reasons.

Remind me what is the stamina negging derived from. If it is from the sunlight absorbed in Nichirin swords, then that isn't gonna work on Geralt - he has no weaknesses for those.

If the source is something else, then point out what please.

Dettlaff, Caranthir, and Imletith are immune to Axii. Eredin is resistant to Axii; he gets a brief knockback animation that is long enough for one attack if Axii is used at point-blank range. Axii is willpower-based mind manip; it is not an insta-win hax unless the opponent doesn't have strong will, and Tanjiro has plenty of it. Geralt exposing himself to draw the signs at close range would be extremely dangerous due to Tanjiro's enhanced senses and precog.

While Aard has a decent range, its kinetic energy is weak enough that Tanjiro's extended melee range would overpower it. Tanjiro's uniform, in addition to protecting from the fangs and claws of mid-level demons, protects from heat and cold. So he is resistant to Igni and Piercing Cold.

Yrden is too ovious of a trap for Tanjiro and it is not reliable. Yrden alt is more interesting as it creates a temporary totem that periodicly shoots small lightning bolts in +10 yard range; though I argue that it is slow to make and that Geralt can only create it at the beginning of the fight before Tanjiro closes in.

Tanjiro's regen negation is not based on the Nichirin sword, but on Dance of the Fire God which also drasticly enhances Tanjiro's AP.

So Quen is Tanjirou's biggest problem, because Geralt can spam Quen and uses it very often.

Yrden might work on very good opportunity but yeah the effect is quite slow and there will be not second time.

Also a side note:

Why the **** does nobody ever mention the Heliotrop Sign

In the books it's basically a temporary shield that can block very powerful attacks

in the games however it's a field that has a larger range than yrden and it does the same thing but better and it can be activated instantly and it lasts a lot

Now that I'm here, time to give my arguments.

Geralt is going to have a hell of time even trying to hit Tanjirou, as even in this key Tanjirou could smell his way up a mountain with low air and filled with traps, could smell an underground attack that was even concealed, and can smell intent and anger. Any feints, or attacks in general Tanjirou will normally dodge.

The whilst this is happening, Tanjirou is going to be analyzing Geralt's fighting style, abilities, searching for any weaknesses and weak points to exploit via Info Analysis. Since Tanjirou can smell he's not human, starting with Regen Negging Dance of the Fire God will be his first move. Considering that technique even makes him faster, then Geralt will have lots of trouble trying to slow down time to hit him if he can hardly see him.

As said earlier, this is only one of Tanjirou's many stat buffs, as Dragon of Change amps his attacks with every strike. Furthermore his uniform actually reduces slashing and piercing attacks, so that's gonna be a hinderence for Geralt. Lastly, should Geralt push him that far, he can enter Mark of the Sun God to end the fight. A boost so powerful he went from getting nearly blitzed, to blitzing.

Tanjirou can cease any minor wounds he has too, so that's a thing.

Also, dare I say Tanjirou has far better stamina. He fought an opponent comparable to him, accessed a transformation that strained him so much he bled from his eyes and surpassed his stamina limit, restrained a newly transformed Nezuko, then later played a huge part in fighting a demon who was superior to the one he just fought and accessed his transformation to, took poison so lethal that one of his teammates had to stop their heart.

Voting Tanjirou, 6.8/10.

Welp, you should note that Geralt could oil his sword to boost it and drink potions. Also if we are talking about maxed Quen, he can keep the forcefield for long and it will still reflect attacks. Tanjirou have better stamina, but Geralt can incredibly quickly replenish his stamina. He got great amount of his blood absorbed by the Unsee but with Swallow he was able to regenerate his stamina and life-force really fast.

Geralt also has enhanced senses (like, any Witcher) and greatly enhanced sight, hearing and smell if that helps. Also, if he casts Yrden, Tanjirou can't go to him because anyone who enters Yrden will be extremely slowed down and attacked by lightning/poisoning bolts. Tanjirou resists Fire so Igni won't work, I don't know about maxed Aard (omnidirectional, almost instanteous and freezing).

Tanjirou would also have a problem attacking Geralt with Quen (which is stupidly broken) and if he charges to attack Geralt he can always be trapped in Yrden or knocked back by Aard. Geralt is mainly fighting against monsters but he also analyzes info on them, but mainly before fights, because he amps himself with specific potions to have less trouble.

Let's not ignore that Geralt has way greater combat experience than Tanjirou and it's not like Tanji will always have perfect hit on his body. He also can block attacks with steel sword.

Tanjirou has some nice advantages and resistances though and it's definitely a tough fight

Geralt cannot be taken down so easily as some might say

He's been confirmed to be the best swordsman in the entire witcherverse and he has been trained by the most experinced witcher that has ever lived since he was just a toddler

Yeah, he also defeated Vilgefortz who was one hell of a swordsman and magician. That was incredibly tough fight for Geralt though, he almost died. But defeating also Eredin, Dettlaff, Olgierd and other Wild Hunt generals is a great feat for his fighting experience.
