Random ass standard equipment for Pokemon?

Honestly I think this speaks to a larger issue with inconsistancy in general with most pokemon pages, but considering inconsistancy is the main export of pokemon land, this will not evolve into a CRT. I just want to know one thing.

Why does Porygon have a bitter berry as standard equipment?

Not only is that an outdated label for the current item, but as far as I'm aware it has no canon connection to Porygon's 1, 2 or Z. I mean sure, it helps out a lot with my current death match, but hardly think that's a good enough reason.

Thanks for your consideration.

I think a Pokemon should have an item as their standard equipment only if they hold that item as a wild encounter, which certainly doesn't apply to Porygon since you get it from the game corner.

If all Porygon found from the Game Corner (main way to get them) have this item, then it should be standard equipment.

Porygon from the game corner don't have any items, even in the gen 3 remakes when hold items were a thing. Porygon having a bitter berry as a hold item seems to come from having it when you transfer pokemon between your gen 1 and gen 2 games via the time machine.
