Funnily enough, back before Donkey Kong was released, Popeye was set to take Mario's role. To celebrate Mario getting downgraded/upgraded (depending how you look at it), lets have the two duke it out.

Speed is equalized. Mario has no access to his powerups but has all of his other abilities, and Popeye starts the battle with a lot of spinach. Furthermore, Popeye starts off with the spinach effect.

Who wins and why?

That's assuming Popeye regens from his soul, and Mario can't hit ghosts all the time anyway

He can hit ghosts and I think he has a bunch of cards that seals away souls when he uses them.

Generic AF. How does Mario's soul manipulation work?
Cappy Mario in Super Mario Odyssey perhaps?
Nah, I'm fairly certain its him being able to hit ghosts. Meaning the soul would have to be exposed.

Cappy is just possession
