Type 5 Immortality Revisions

So, this has been on my mind for a while.

Our current Type 5 Immortality is... pretty superfluous, given how absurdly limited the description actually is. On the other hand, I have come up with a new description for it that I feel fits far, far more characters.

Type 5: Deathless Immortality: Characters who exist unbound by traditional life or death, or do not exist at all, and thus cannot be killed in a conventional sense. Typically, abilities such as Existence Erasure are needed to destroy them.

As I said, this encompasses a great deal of characters but we haven't had anything that can be used to describe them.

It should also be noted that the amount of characters who currently are Type 5 under our current definition is only about a dozen, so this definitely isn't a big revision in terms of actually removing it.

I've outlined all the characters who I know would qualify here, alongside the characters that need to be changed. Azathoth was going to come up with a "Type 11" Immortality to fit what our Type 5 currently is, but for now I feel we can proceed with this if everyone agrees.

So, thoughts?

So, how exactly would that be applied in practice regarding to how it works? Would such a character be able to come back from nothing for example or would that only prevent traditional killing?

It only prevents traditional killing for the most part.

Basically you can't kill these guys just by punching really, really hard.

i think this is alright, basically a type 10 but for non 1-A?

@DMUA Type 9 is transcendental immortality, where the true self exists independently from the one that can be killed normally, this one is for characters who are beyond conventional life/death/do not exist

I've always thought that we need an Immortality type for this. Of course I support it.

This also possibly applies to the Shadow.

For your Adventure Time examples, The Lich and possibly GOLB apply, as Death is absolutely terrified of the former, while the latter having the former as simply a mere student of it.

They also predate time and nothingness, but idk if that can be quantified.

Let's not throw Type 5 on anyone who can resist Death Manipulation though.
This.

I only even put on Hunson as possibly because he's said to be deathless. And as I said, only possibly.

It's not. Type 10 is on a completely different scale.

Does this kind of Immortality have to be listed alongside other types that pretty much mean "staying alive" in character pages (Such as Type 1, 2 and the Godhood Variation of Type 4), or this would be too redundant?

@Ultima

Unless they've demonstrated otherwise, not really. Being beyond death doesn't mean you're beyond aging.

But all tier 0s are removed from this type, and it's just a bunch of High 1-As. What happens to those god tiers then, they don't get a type?

@Unite

At the bottom of the page it's already stated that those godly characters will have Type 10 or Type 11 Immortality.

I am also probably fine with the change in itself. I am just worried about finding all of the pages that list the ability.

Immortality may be our hardest ability to revise, as it has so many different varieties listed and linked to. Just see here for an overview:

https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Immortality?limit=3500

That said, from memory, all of the tier 0 and Lovecraft's 1-A characters should likely have the ability removed, but it is possible that other characters have it as well, whether warranted or not.

On the document I linked in the original message, I listed both characters who would get it and who would get it removed.

Maybe it is better to keep type 5 as is, and simply add a type 11 instead?

@The Everlasting

Okay.

I would personally prefer making this Type 5, given how superfluous the current one is.

Besides, if we are to keep Type 5, it makes more sense for the final and strongest immortality to be the last one rather than arbitrarily 5.

That is true. Never mind then.

So, since support for this is essentially unanimous, is anyone (Besides Saikou and Prom) willing to help me implement it?

I think I can help edit some of the pages before I go on break.

EDIT: Since Saikou's going to sleep, I suppose I can do White Face and the Touhous at least.

I can handle the Nasuverse pages.
