Ness vs. Doomguy

Both at 7-c.

2016 Doomguy.

Speed Equalized.

Doomguy isn't allowed his power-ups.

I think Ness takes this fight because he has his shields that can keep him from harm for most of the fight and reflect some of it back onto Doom-Slayer, and can put his status effects like Sleep and Uncontrollable crying on Doom-Slayer, making it that much harder for him to attack and hit Ness. Also he can heal himself which helps him outlast Doom-Slayer. I do think it would be a hard fight for Ness tho considering Doom Slayer has some crazy as hell (no pun intended) stamina reserves. And if the fight devolves into a slugging contest due to Ness's PP running out and Doom-Slayer running out of Ammo, Ness still has the range advantage with his Baseball Bat over Doom-Slayer with his fists.

Unless it's restricted, the Doom Slayer has a sword for melee. And chances are that it's much longer than a baseball bat, seeing as it's almost the length of a human body. He also has a chainsaw.

Sleep would probably work, but the uncontrollable crying bit probably falls under the category of 'mind-based attacks', being empathic manipulation and all. If it does, Doom can probably resist it.

What does Ness scale to AP/Durability-wise?

PK Flash is basically a flashbang therefore blinding the opponent through physical means and would not fall under that category. Honestly I think someone just shoved that ability in there for no reason... I mean just look at Ness's notable techniques, it literally is called PK Flash. not PK make them sad.

Also I believe Ness's Durability/AP is scaled from a Nuclear Core robot who can basically self-destruct and that is a weaker enemy in the game. So basically power scaling. Starman (Earthbound) here's where Ness's scaling comes from I believe.

Also thanks for clearing that up for me with the whole sword and range thing.

Strange. Still doesn't link to the calc (or raw feat) which gives Ness & company their Town level rating. I was hoping to compare numbers here.

In whatever case, I did want to bring up that Doom has his own energy shields generated by his armor, as well as the armor itself which is stated to be capable of withstanding fairly ridiculous amounts of punishment. Projectiles (I know Ness has some) probably won't be a factor against him either, given how much experience he has dealing with projectile-based attacks. (Including energy attacks and homing projectiles) He also sees through a visual scanner/monitor built into his helmet, so blinding attacks would have to be capable of getting through that in order to work on him.

Attack reflection and potential status effects are probably the main advantage here, at least as far as powers/abilities go.

With that said I think Ness still would be able to finesse his way to victory against Doom-Slayer because Ness could reflect that huge damage DS would throw and Ness once again could use his healing to keep up with his stamina and if sleep does hit, it could give him the chance to deal decent damage to DS. LIke I said tho this would be a hard fight for Ness.

Well, it depends. The BFG is special in that its projectile doesn't just deal damage by exploding. The projectile also sends out energy streams which seek out targets and boil them from the inside. If Ness can reflect an attack of that nature as well as the damage from the explosion itself, then he may have a legitimate advantage over Doom.

Bear in mind also that Doom's own insides are quite durable as well. One of Doom's powerups causes a normal user's heart to 'quite literally explode' during a single use, and he's capable of surviving multiple uses.

I do agree that Sleep effects are a genuine factor, though.

I should also mention that Doom also has a Holographic device which he can deploy. It doesn't damage anyone, but it's fairly realistic and even mimicks shooting at his enemies in order to grab their attention.

well in Ness's profile it literally says his shields are in effect for "For non-psychic attacks only" and I don't think the BFG is Psychic in nature, and of course that doesn't negate it's effect but removes a good chunk of it's damage against Ness (and throws it back at DS) and even if it would hit a vital organ he would be able to survive it and still be able to heal himself afterwards (Said in Ness's profile as well)

Also the I don't know how well a hologram would do since... well... Ness is psychic and naturally would be able to tell the difference between a hologram and a real person

Uh, gonna go with Ness, his PSI powers get him the edge in versatility while also maintaining a decent AP/Dura. Also, this is a bit of personal character interpretation, I don't think Doomguy would take him seriously, he's a kid and I also don't think Doomguy would be so eager to fight a child. His normal bout of enemies is usually demons and amalgamations of technology and flesh, not young children.

I'd assume Doom would take Ness seriously once he realizes what the latter is capable of. A child is one thing, but a child with psychic attacks and energy manipulation is another. Also, while this isn't particularly the same thing, the games have featured child-like monsters before. (one particular enemy type has the body of an infant)

Having said that, I would also most likely give it to Ness 7 times out of 10 unless there's some significant difference in their AP. Just by virtue of attack reflection and status effects, he probably has the advantage against Doom's firearms and energy weapons.

So I believe the score is now:

Ness: 3 (Me, Penguinkingpin, and MrKingOfNegativity)

Doom-Slayer: 0

Inconclusive: 0

Can't wait to hear what other's have to say

Ness for reasons above, Doomslayer may be physically stronger, but Ness is easily more haxed. Attack Reflection, healing, and PK Flash are effective categories. Looks like someone finally brought down the Doomslayer.

alright that's 7, I think if it's unanimous I can request it to be added right away without grace period... Is that correct?

Yeah, go ahead. Although, I could add it to Doomguy's profile myself. Ness's profile is locked though.
