I don't think you can make the Grinch breathe underwater. The reason why some Spongebob threads specify that they can breathe on land is because they've been shown to breathe on land before, it's just inconsistent.

Yeah, you can't make the Grinch breathe underwater since he's never shown that ability. And besides, Mr. Krabs can breathe air perfectly fine as seen in episodes like "The Krabby Patty That Ate Bikini Bottom" and "Bubble Troubles"

Anyway, Krabs via regen and likely an AP advantage
