Wiki problems that need to be dealt with

I have some wiki issues that likely need to be dealt with:

The following pages seem to use guesswork statistics, so I think they should be deleted:

Which of the following two categories is the main one for Sonic? It seems redundant to have two of them at the same time.

This is essentially a company category, and company categories should never contain character profile pages. Not to mention that it is irrelevant and redundant to list every character that has ever appeared in a Nintendo or Playstation game. I think that the verse sub-categories can probably remain as a part of it though.

Should this category be removed and possibly replaced for individual character pages and sub-categories? It is not a company or a verse, just an imprint.

Looks like Kingdoms of Alamar was already deleted; which it should most likely yes.

As for the Sonic categories. Sonic the Hedgehog is the more general category; and I believe it was originally "Game Sonic" as the category to differentiate it from Archie Sonic. But Game Sonic has recently gotten some extended material that is canon to Sega, which I think explains the name change.

Think we agreed to remove company categories or console categories with the exception of Nintendo as there is a Nintendo Verse page to cover a variety of IPs owned by Nintendo. 3rd party games that happen to be on Nintendo consoles at origin do not count however. But removing Playstation category is reasonable since there is no Playstation verse page.

Don't know enough about Vertigo to comment.

I agree Broadway Force users sounds much more appropriate.

The company categories are fine, as long as they are only used for verse pages and verse categories for verses owned by those companies. Verse pages for companies are only allowed for rare exceptions, such as Disney or DC Comics though.

However, that is not what I asked about above.

@Antvasima btw I had seen your comment in the All-Purpose Request thread about this, I was not ignoring it, I was just trying to sort through what I could get done while still performing my other tasks. Regardless, I'll try to tackle this now, a couple tasks at a time.

It seems a bit weird that the more general category has 33 pages while the other one has 247, no? Also, according to the move logs, both pages were never renamed? To clarify, do you think there should be any work done here or no?

Given that this is very straightforward, and that both you and DDM agree with its removal, I removed the category from each individual page, and deleted the actual page as well.

I think removing Sonic the Hedgehog would be best, as it leaves the door open for every single iteration to be tagged with that. Sega Sonic is not only accurate, but now strictly relates to everything tied to the games (including extended media outside of video games).

Putting it in fewer words, Sega Sonic is the better named tag while "Sonic the Hedgehog" is too broad.

That’s fair, actually. Might be preferable to rename it to something like “Game Sonic” but after reading this, that makes sense

On second thought, I think that we can likely keep both of those categories, as Sonic the Hedgehog works as an over-category for all of the Sonic continuities.

The blog posts with that category might need to be indexed more specifically though. 🙏
