White Walker Revisions

In this and this, it seems more as though the White Walkers are using their ice manipulation to break their opponents' weapons, as opposed to brute force. And in this (again) and this, the White Walkers clearly seen temporarily dousing the flames they walk through, and not just tanking them. In addition, tanking such (fairly) low flames would likely garner Street level durability ratings, not Wall level. So, this would likely remove these as justifications for their Wall level ratings. Now, I still say they're Wall level, as they should be superior to any human, Cleganes included, and they can send humans flying with their strikes, but their weapon shattering shouldn't factor into it. Their ice manipulation should either get a separate rating, or be listed as durability negation (as it likely functions by seeping into and expanding cracks, much like ice does in the real world).

I agree, we shouldn't use their ice manipulation as feats, but can use other sources.
Would you say a separate rating for ice manip, or list it as drability negation?

I agree with this.

From what I remember of the series though, there's also the thing that White Walkers are impervious to average weapons, and they kill armored humans really easily.

Even with ice-crushing weapons, I vaguely recall that the process isn't instantaneous, and in the beginning of the first book and when the White Walkers attacked the Night's Watch in Craster's camp I think there were bits that they were struck by weapons and received no damage.

I need to double-check that though.

White Walkers can only be instantaneuosly killed with Valyrian Steel. Dragon Glass takes a bit more time afaik.

I agree with the OP.

I think I actually brought this stuff up in a VS thread some time ago, but I must've never bothered to follow up with a CRT or anything.

But yeah, I definitely agree with this.

Ok, so we all agree the flame and weapon-breaking feats are non-factors in terms of physicals, but that White Walkers retain their ratings by way of other feats. But I would like to know what you all think of the ice manip before we implement this: separate rating, durability negation, or both?

I dunno.

On one hand, every time they use it on weapons seems to just freeze-shatter them, and I'm pretty sure one of the Walkers in the HBO series even managed to shatter a weapon just by blocking it with his ice staff.

On the other hand, I haven't gone and read the books (A.K.A. the primary source), so I don't know whether or not the above is contradicted at any point.

...By the way, are our ASoIaF pages for the books, the show, or composite? Because guys like the Night King don't exist in the books (the Night's King is unlikely to be the same character), but he's a major antagonistic force in the show.

Our profiles are hardcore outdated and a mess.

But I think we agreed on composite.

But even then that didn't really come of anything, and I still think it should be book-only.

I don't quite see how they're outdated, swing as several have been editted fairly recently, and neither Season 8 nor Winds of Winter have been released yet.

I'd think book and show ASoIaF pages would probably need to be separated, in most cases.
They're hardly the same thing, at this point. And the show is actually further than the books thanks, George R.R. Marti.
Thank you, Azzy. Now we have to wait 5 more years for Winds of Winter now ovo
