What do the canon movies say though? I know that the Super anime is considered the official canon but for the first two arcs I feel that only the movies can really be used.

Now that the movies where adapted to the main canon anime, the movies itself are useless now, and we can't only base on the anime first two arcs instead

When it comes to DBS I'm genuienly suprised that fans take some of the stuff that happens as seriously as this. Especially since Toei appears to be doing whatever is cool at the moment leading to characters possibly rectonning themselves mid-story.

Granted the (more consistent) manga and anime exist as their own seperate but congruent canons so there's that.
