UnOrdinary Discussion Thread

I feel like they're all slaves to it. Even if you're at the top it's like you're chained to a standard that you must uphold.

Then again I suppose the whole story is about breaking down that hierarchy.

Uru-chan made an analogy on her panel about how she based it on real life.

I can see it personally

Anyway, its the time of year.

UnOrdinary has its slow slump (although this chapter was epic), so I am gonna take a small break so I can wait for some qualitah chapters to come out ; )

I love how Arlo stood up to John with no fear. Like holy shit, Arlo didn't give two ***** on the fact that John beat him once.

Arlo beating John make no sense at all to me,hand to hand combat should be John's speciality, unlike any other Top Tier he is the only one that actually fight with his own strength and not relies on super power ability

Fair enough. Though I was a bit lost on why John seemed to be physically weaker than Arlo here. Perhaps because he wasn't using his ability. I do find it interesting that what Arlo said was able to turn John's speech bubbles white.

John was clearly not using his ability. Either way, what Arlo said truly hit close to home as it made John think. Something he needs to do more often. I love John, but that is what irritates me about his character. He doesn't think before he acts.

At least not anymore. I'm more so curious to see how the story will play out as his character evolves. The thing with Ember is still present. And we've yet to see any of these so called heroes.

@Ryope

Arlo also likely has Physical Invulnerability. This is not the first time he shrugged an attack from a base John, without copied powers.

Arlo probably does have the upper hand as long as he doesnt reveal his ability in combat to John.

Assuming off course, John just doesnt blitz and beat him up before he can use his ability or overtax his physical invulnerability somehow.

Anyway.

John is now royally screwed.

This chapter was just great.

Can anybody tell whether the principal has his own agenda or actually cares about his students?

It's a crapsack world.
He has his own agenda
Whether or not it is a moral, amoral or an immoral Agenda remains to be seen.

This does beg the questions though.

1. Why did Keene let John in after knowing his past at New Bostin? Either he is overconfidant and greedy, wanting as many high tiers as possible for his school or he is forgiving on a level we have not seen (I am leaning to the first one, the only staff that might care about John's circumstance is Darren.)

2. What even happened at New Bostin that gave John PTSD? (Other then the obvious)

Does anybody think that the red haired guy that interrogated Seraphina have some sort of mental quirk? It's just me guessing but that would explain how he "broke" John.

Although I think it'd be cool if he just had a powerful physical quirk since he's already pretty smart so it would make him better in both departments.

Or maybe hax....yeah we're not getting much hax at all are we?

Welllll

If you consider hax by its definition of "something that gives the advantage over someone of comparable strength"...

Yeah, that's a bit sad. I'm curious as to what's going to happen with her. And how they got rid of her abilities.

XD, that wouldn't even be surprising. And John would proceed to copy that ability and make everyone a cripple.

So, I had to axe Deadpool, and since I'm going to do another round with Ken so I don't have to use 9-A, I'm also axing John Doe (although his match still counts).

So, more UnOrdinary battles for the brackets, Arlo's stepping in.

So I just read the chapter (day late, my bad)

So what shall Remi's superhero alter ego and the Blyke x Remi ship?

Also, the ship has sailed for me.

No, no one in this thread can stop me.

Also where is my super suit
Also if you want my review of this chapter, this meme says it all.

Seeing as how Remi is like the only natural decent human being in the series I cannot ship her with anyone. They'll just ruin her purity.

Blyke's a cool guy but I'm still not sure how much of a prick he is to lower level ability users.

Who else was expecting an actually good costume? Also Remi with that marker makes her best girl

UnOrdinary break this week, so we got time for discussion

I honestly think Waldo was 'buffed' by the authorities to maintain order and oppress low tiers.

Also, just a heads up, I'm rendering whatever I can for the current profiles to help make 'em look better. If there's any issues with the renders please tell me; I'll fix them ASAP.

I can't really say terribly much about Remi as a natural good person. John is the only one I view as a natural good person, for his strive to better the world actually led him to tackle it from its core. Remi didn't reject or embrace the system. She was born with power and lived a good life comparatively to most folks. Sure, she was 'nice' in that she didn't go out of her way to harm anyway, but she also doesn't often go out of her way to help people either. She's more neutral, it's simply that this world is so skewed that people who are 'neutral' are perceived as 'good' simply because they're so far above the norm when it comes to morality. But I honestly can't see Remi as being naturally good because she was content with the system, whereas John wasn't. Similar to Seraphina before she met John. They didn't really hurt folk, but they made no attempt to uproot the system, if they even saw anything wrong with it. As it stands Remi is only acting on behalf of her dead brother, not because she truly wants to do good. The only character I can count as a 'good' character is John and his father, which is why it's terrible to see him do bad things as it's so far out of character for him, and the opposite of what he strives to do. Perhaps John was like Remi once, but changed due to his past as well as his father's influence. He couldn't stand the system any longer, and thusly became good through his honest attempts and persistence to change it.

Thinking on it now, it seems like John mostly wants to be left alone, though from his interactions with Seraphina, it's clear that he has a strong passion to do something more. Not because someone close to him died, or because he hates his powers, but because he tires of such a vile world, and honestly wants to change it to be one where people aren't discriminated against.

If John was naturally good, he wouldn't have been called a tyrant and beaten up everyone at New Bostin. He was/somtimes is a total dick who has tried to change his ways to become better. It's not out of character if he's done that before.

Remi on the other hand was nice to everybody and most people didn't have a problem with her beyond a select few.

So we got electricity dodgers now

Close range electricity dodgers too, the guy didn't even move his body until the electricity was a metre or two away

@Regis

Fair enough, I still give more credit to John than Remi though. You can't consistently say you wanna help and then only help when it actually affects you. While doing the right thing, it's still rather selfish.

@Monarch

Yeah, but do we have an official speed for electricity? Or would we just use the same speed that we do for lightning?

CalcTimeKids2
Alright, let's say he's average height, or around 177 cm. His head + trunk is 420px, or 40.25% of his total body height.

So, 420px = 71.7cm.

420/71.7 = 163/X

163/(420/71.7) = X

X = 27.83. He moves 27cm to dodge the electricity.

ElectricityCalcingTime1
Average female height, 161.8cm.

82px = her arm length, which takes up 38.85% of her height, which makes 82px = 62.9cm.

163px is the distance the electricity was from him before he started moving.

82/62.9 = 163/X

163/(82/62.9) = The electricity travels 125cm before it hits where he currently is.

Just need a speed for the electricity and I can give y'all the new speed for the verse.

If I use the speed of lightning it's MHS+; specifically Mach 2770.
