Top 10 Oldest Franchises on the Wiki

I don't think mythology counts as a franchise.

I don't think mythology counts as a franchise.
I dont think it’s technically Mythology, it was a Novel that took place in Mythology but plenty of series do that.

Iirc there was talk about bringing JTTW Wukong back with Noval only feats/scaling so no Mythology based scaling.

sure, but it still isn't a franchise.

I mean it has many remakes of it plus many movies and games based upon it.

Its one of the more popular and well known Novels in history and still has stuff being made based off of it and its characters to date.

Sequels[edit]

The brief satirical novel Xiyoubu (西遊補, "A Supplement to the Journey to the West," c. 1640) follows Sun Wukong as he is trapped in a magical dream world created by the Qing Fish Demon, the embodiment of desire (情, qing). Sun travels back and forth through time, during which he serves as the adjunct King of Hell and judges the soul of the recently dead traitor Qin Hui during the Song dynasty, takes on the appearance of a beautiful concubine and causes the downfall of the Qin dynasty, and even faces Pāramitā, one of his five sons born to the rakshasa Princess Iron Fan,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journey_to_the_West#cite_note-11 on the battlefield during the Tang dynasty.[10] The events of Xiyoubu take place between the end of chapter 61 and the beginning of chapter 62 of Journey to the West.[11] The author, Dong Yue (董說), wrote the book because he wanted to create an opponent—in this case desire—that Sun could not defeat with his great strength and martial skill.[12]

it has a sequel

I feel this needed some editing and fixing up but there was a sequal made for plus as I mentioned many adaptations of it and its characters.

they both came out in 1954 though
Yes but the Hobbit came out in 1937.

“The Lord of the Rings is an epic high-fantasy novel by English author and scholar J. R. R. Tolkien. Set in Middle-earth, a place like Earth at some distant time in the past, the story began as a sequel to Tolkien's 1937 children's book The Hobbit, but eventually developed into a much larger work. Written in stages between 1937 and 1949, The Lord of the Rings is one of the best-selling books ever written, with over 150 million copies sold.”

Also Bambi maybe you should update the OP? Could make things easier instead of looking through the comments for the list.

if I can actually complete a profile on Gundam, then that could go on there too since the first series aired in 1979

You should just combine 40k and Fantasy since 40k was derived from Fantasy, WHF was released around 38 years ago in 1983
