It is indeed from this feat of him learning and studying his opponent in Chapter 47. But with some further context from Chapter 48, it seems that he is predicting the attacks of his opponents through observation as shown here in the VIZ translation where he says "I though I learned my way around that attack, but..." and in the MangaPlus Version "The attack I thought I predicted".
Of course, this hype up Gen's Sharingan for being able to consistently bully someone who can predict his attacks in a short period of time
