I think it's not uncommon to say that the regular SpongeBob profile should stand on it's own aside from anything that might make it a composite profile.
But as for other things...
Would it be fair to give the THQ version of SpongeBob his own profile given that Battle For Bikini Bottom and The Cosmic Shake share a canon? We can start with loose connections like the gameplay having identical moves to Battle For Bikini Bottom and SpongeBot SteelPants appearing as a DLC costume -- to much stronger ones like a Bomb-Bot from BFBB appearing in a cutscene and Prawn, a BFBB-exclusive character appearing once more in a speaking role. I think it's fair to say the BFBB-Cosmic Shake canon version of SpongeBob deserves it's own profile, but just in case, I wanted a second opinion.
