Thematic matchups that would be/are stomps

Raiden Mei (Herrscher of Origin) vs Raiden (MGSR)

"Stomp" doesn't even begin to describe the match. She resists HF Blades and uh, has ap,haxes etc infinities above him

Ymir, The Founding Titan vs Caine, The First Vampire

Once simple young farmers, after unspeakable acts of violence they found their lives upended and lost their homes, becoming the lowest of the low. After coming into contact with timeless and unfathomably powerful beings, they were bestowed with godlike power that changed their very beings but was more a curse than anything, as they lacked the wisdom to use it responsibly, and brought untold suffering upon the entire world with it. Despite their immeasurable power, they are shackled by their self-defeating mindsets, and have spent millennia watching their progeny inflict wanton agony on the world at large and their own kin in an unending and ultimately meaningless cycle of violence. It is only by coming to terms with their inner demons that their curse is broken, and they and their progeny are able to find some measure of peace.

But... yeah. You could quite literally throw an infinite number of Ymirs at Caine and he would still no-diff. Though Caine's profile is insanely outdated and contains a wealth of erroneus information ("Eye of Caine" isn't a thing. According to the storyteller the red star is either a sign from God or a portent of The Wyrm. Also, stuff scaling him to Outer is contentious to say the least), he is still very much Low 2-C and Immeasurable, with an assload of layered hax. Hell, despite being set ablaze by sunlight (unless he uses one of the many powers he has to avoid such a thing since every single vampiric power [including various measures to tank sunlight] that has ever or will ever exist is available to him inherently, and he can even just invent knew ones whenever the hell he likes), he still won't die as he is quite literally not allowed to until the apocalypse.

Apocalypse Bird vs Walpurgisnacht

Before becoming what theyre known as now, both of them used to be a trio/unknown amount of well meaning figures (The three birds/the magical girls before turning into witches), until some form of event corrupted them. With that, they essentially combined their efforts (the Bird combining into Apocalypse Bird/the Witches combining into Walpurgisnacht)

...aight im a bit bad at this but why is this a stomp?

PMMM character thats two tiers higher, and the fact that Apoc Bird cant properly hit her with PALE damage

Marika Fukuroi vs Yuuka Kazami
Flower themed Magical Girls ( Or Atleast Magic Wielding Girls) who are known to prefer using sheer overwhelming brute force over fancy abilities. They are also known for their blood thirsty behavior during fights...
Even If you were to downgrade touhou chars to their lowest form, Marika still has no way of fighting someone that will just fly and keep spamming bullshit level danmaku.

Another one is Marisa Kirisame vs Tsubakura Enraku.
Two monochrome themed characters that specialises in high firepower and lasers. Though they do have contrasting qualities such as Marisa using rainbow colored magic while tsubakura using monochrome based technology. Marisa is a hardworking fellow while Tsubakura is lazy ass slacker. They are also known to have lots of relationship towards their cast and both are explicitly humans. They also have big ass hats as well.

The main problem of the M.U is the same for a lot of touhou MU is that a lot of the main touhou cast are too cracked beyond comparison. Though I think that Tsubakura can hold a bit of a chance with a lot of modern powerscaling bullshit.

That and I'm pretty sure that witches would probably no sell the abnormalities passive mind hax right?

Possibly? I didnt think about that actually- though passive mind hax the Abnos have are 4-D, but given how PMMM is, i doubt that matters much

Khadgar vs Teclis

Both are reflective individuals who are considered the strongest known mages in their worlds and generally align with the decided "Good Guy" faction and rarely appear outside of world-ending threats or something to do with said faction.

As for why it's a stomp... Teclis is a Warhammer Fantasy mage. You do the math.

I don't know if I've already brought it up, and it might not be to big of a stomp as some of the others here, but Wahlberg Baigan vs Satoru Gojo

The connections are that they are both seen as the strongest, are teachers that help their students in different ways, and have had friends that they were really close to, only for said friend to go off the deep end and become one of the biggest terrorists to the world.

The problem is that Wahlberg slaps Gojo to next Sunday in terms of power, and Spaces likely carves through Infinity.

The Enchantress vs The Radiance
Kingdom conquering beings with a penchant for corruption. Their conquest happens after corrupting powerful knights that are attempting to stop them and who are connected to their game's protagonist. 2010s games with knight in the name. Light vs Dark motif and are both females with the in the name.

The Radiance is untouchable for The Enchantress and the former can mind hax.

Director Phobos vs Yhwach

Two egotistical shmucks who attempt to rise to godhood using the power of a god.

Too bad either Phobos stomps Yhwach, (Phobos is becoming 1-A in the near future) or Yhwach stomps depending on the key.

Kaguya vs Abeloth

Powerful entities sealed away and when released, became a threat to their entire respective worlds, and defeated by combined efforts of the heroes

Abeloth AP stomps, hax stomps, and proceeds to **** Kaguya and absorb her even before she likely gets upgraded with the recent CRT for SW Legends and likely resists every hax thrown at her

I can't believe I haven't thought of this one. Cuz I love thematic matches.

King Bradley vs Omni Man. Their appearance, their role in the story, even their mannerisms and mindset are similar. The only difference is one sought redemption and the other didn't.

But there's no way for a supreme human to match a viltrumite.

Not sure if this is a stomp or not. If not I'll probably do a match for it.

Black Bolt from the MCU vs Toge Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaizen.

Two beings that have to stay (mostly) silent because they can destroy you with a whisper from their mouth.

BB has 9B durability vs Toge's 8B offense.
Toge has 8B durability vs BB's 7B offense.
So they can both one shot each other. I mean look at that. 9B->8B->7B.

Both register at subsonic speed

DIO vs. Sakuya is one I frequently see.

Maybe Novel DIO or a composite DIO could stand a chance, though I do not know how the former scales. Sakuya basically does everything every time stand user does, but 100x better.

Mahito vs Capella Emerada Lugnica
And Mahito vs Envy

If the first name doesn't ring any bells, she's from Re:Zero and the archbishop of Lust.

The first one is just a matter of powers. Both Mahito and Capella can both transform themselves and touch people and transform them. The issue is that Capella transforms them on a physical level as far as I can tell. Mahito's transformations are based on the soul. He transforms to reflect the shape of his soul and transforms others by manipulating their souls. Meaning that not only can Capella not actually hurt him but he can one tap her.

Best case scenario is that Capella can eject the transforming parts of her as we see it is possible to escape the transformation like in the case of Todo. Or for the transformation to fail to take effect like Nobara. But even if we say Capella can survive thanks to that, she still can't hurt him.

Envy is interesting because of a different reason. He can transform himself but he can't transform others. Also...he doesn't have a soul. He does however have a philosopher stone which is comprised of untold countless souls.

This then beg the question. Can Mahito transform Envy? Because on one hand, he has no soul. On the other, his stone does. In JJK the connection between the body and soul is debated. I believe it was concluded the soul comes first and the body is shaped by. Have to rewatch to see what the brain head says again. But in JJK manipulation of the soul manipulates the body because the two are connected. But the Philosopher's stone is just Envy's power source. So it's possible that Mahito touches him and nothing happens.

But on the flip, let's say Mahito can access the souls in the stone. What then? If he can use the souls in the stone to transform Envy, Envy transforms back. Mahito can't transform the stone, that's alchemy.

Even if he could, he has to destroy the souls in the stone and we've never seen him actually destroy souls, just reshape them.

And once again, even if he could we get into a spot where it's either stomp or inconclusive as Envy can't hurt Mahito and if Mahito can destroy souls he has a lot to go through.

Doesn't Heaven Dio have thought based EE or smth like that

I know many have mentioned Guts in this thread already, but I'm surprised nobody mentioned Guts VS Artorias.

Godzilla (Legendary) vs Zygarde
The ancient, monstrous defenders of the planet’s ecosystem and its balance, you even get a bit of a mecha vs kaiju thing going on too.

Too bad Godzilla gets one-tapped into oblivion by 50%, much less 100%.

Ziggy so underrated, literally the perfect Nuzlocke Pokemon if you're playing Gen 7 (you can take it apart and build a new one when it dies)

Ok, I'm giving up. After seeing Chainsawman Reze arc, I wanted to do Reze vs Roy Mustang or Kimblee. Three characters who can make things explode by snapping their fingers or by touching them. But Reze has the AP/Dura edge. Now I might've been able to sell it if Mustang or Kimblee were faster but unfortunately she has the speed edge too.

Got a matchup idea. Was even about to do it but am now wondering if it's a stomp.

Arkham Batman vs Chris Redfield. Namely Arkham Origins.

How's it thematic? Both were voiced by Roger Craig Smith. Whenever I play Origins I hear Chris.

But Chris has the Speed advantage (Hypersonic vs Supersonic) and the LS advantage (Class 25 vs Class 5).

Batman has intelligence and Stealth.

So I'm wondering if this is a fair matchup or a stomp.

Batman hard outskills Chris Redfield

Batman hard outskills Chris Redfield
For sure, but Chris (Class 25-50) outmuscles the likes of Killer Croc and TN1 Bane (Class 25). Characters who posed a legit threat to Batman (so not stomp), and were so dangerous sometimes Batman couldn't engage them in a direct fight. And Chris outskills them.
