The SCP Mass Exodus

I think it's best not to rush the move. We already lack manpower and once Ultima drops his tiering revision thread we will definitely have no manpower.

We can start by actually setting up the archival wiki and base infrastructure first before moving the essential pages.

Wait, for this new wiki, I have another suggestion. This might satisfy some of @Agnaa issues as well.

I think it should just be a full on miscellaneous wiki that allows stuff that isn't notable enough for VSBW, has a few copyright issues (without just being straight fan fiction), or otherwise was barred from VSBW for another reason. Examples would be things like Animation vs Animator, Blue n White Series, and Skibidi Toilet.

This would also solve a big issue on FCOC as well which is that a lot of those things end up on our site when that's not really the purpose of our site.

Thoughts? I know it would require a lot of work and moderation, but we can start off small and build from there. I would be willing to help.

Ok so in lieu of this idea, I have set up a wiki called Alt Battles Wiki (or ABW) where we index alt media like SCP. Essentially fringe media that skirt the rules here.

We will basically walk the line between fanfiction content and official licensed works; "official" works with enough notoriety to consider them a standalone entity but violate the rules that allow them to belong on VSBW.

SCP, Dog Ningen, Skibidi Toilet, etc. We will essentially become the backwater hobo version of VSBW but officiated through being partnered.

To add to this, like the other sister wikis we will fully adopt the scaling system from VSBW, further solidifying our partnership.

"Too many unofficial crossovers" and "internet personalities" both run into this issue a fair bit. Feels weird to not just put them on FC/OC.
Not exactly.

For example, Animator vs Animation is mostly original and started off as 100% original. Meanwhile, Scott the Woz doesn't even have any feats based on video game stuff afaik (Unless you count fighting a sewer monster made out of discarded copies of Chibi-Robo Zip-Lash).

Actually, come to think of it, Scott the Woz episodes were premiered on an actual television network (The late G4), it might unironically be fine to have him on this wiki. This probably isn't the place for that conversation, however.

I awoke about ten minutes ago to the proposition of a reject wiki. Ovens mentioned allowing things that are pornographic or racist (satirical or otherwise) in fundamental concept, I think that's a truly horrible idea but many of his other inclusions make a lot of sense: Skibidi Toilet (rejected for copyright concerns, currently living on FC/OC as a compromise even though it has surpassed notoriety conditions to not be on there), Animator vs Animated (much the same fate as Skibidi Toilet), CalebCity, etc.

My concern is that much of what is being included or mentioned already has a home elsewhere, and fits into where it has a home. Death Battle clinically fulfills the requirements of FC/OC to a tee and it is already on there. I think merging of lines isn't great.

Still, I think this is a better option that adding it to some other wiki- but a worse one than an archive.

Don't know why Death Battle was brought up but I don't think that should be used as an example for FCOC standards as I don't even know if that will still be allowed on the wiki after revision of standards. It lacks substance.

Also, it's just straight up fan fiction so not sure how that'd be a merging of lines. Alt battles isn't for fan fictions.

There are many things that are only home on FCOC because there wasn't a better place to put them. Alt Battles is that better place.

Because it was mentioned in the suggestion. And... I guess? But it is resoundingly fan-made content. As fan-made as it gets, really. I'm not familiar with the "substance" requirements you guys are working on behind closed doors, that one just bore mentioning.

Just a note that we cannot be affiliated with a wiki that contains pornographic (such as Monster Girl Quest) or racist (such as Dog Ningen) content that I think isn't even allowed by Fandom's official rules, and we also have to wait for the other bureaucrats to see if they think that an official affiliation, possibly with a specific extra forum section here, is even a good idea.

Yes exactly. I said "a fair bit" not "always", a mere few counterexamples (which I already knew and was considering) don't change that.

They're both allowed on Fandom. MGQ has profiles on multiple other Fandom-based wikis, and has its own wiki with over 2000 articles. Dog Ningen has a page on a Fandom wiki and I've seen things more clearly racist on Fandom pages that are still allowed to stay up after years.

I say this mostly to console those considering allowing those sorts of profiles on the alt battles wiki; I personally don't think we should be affiliated with that wiki regardless. I see absolutely zero point in removing verses from vsbw if we're going to have them still follow our systems and be a part of discussions on our forum.

Just a note that as far as I recall, I have been directly told by a Fandom staff member that Dog Ningen, Monster Girl Quest, and similar works are not allowed in their wikis, even if they apparently haven't discovered and deleted all of it yet.

So are there any relevant updates here already, or are you currently working things out?

The profiles themselves have been ported over thanks to help from Catzlaflame (who has carried this so far, by the way, very good chap) and his bot. Currently, we need to go through and manage image porting- I believe Catz also plans to port over blogs and calculations, although I know little about how that works.

The image work appears to require manual labor, which I haven't gotten around to contributing to yet. I don't know whether others have or not. After that, the archive wiki just needs the basic infrastructure (templates, core pages, etc), I believe, but that can be ported after deletion.

I think the name should be changed from “Alt Battles” to “Alternate Battles”. “Alt” is just an abbreviation of “alternate” and I find it rather ridiculous to have the abbreviated term as the actual official name.
