The Player is literally just a regular human playing a video game. I think it's more likely that the OFF universe is just a separate universe from the "Real World" that exists on their computer, akin to something like how Wreck-It-Ralph works.

It's not(?) but it's the only depiction of the Player for the game and Mortis decided to just make it a guy. Playing a game that exists in a world in a computer and that's pretty much it could be interpreted in a laundry list of ways and saying it's R>F is one of them, but isn't really decisive at all I believe

I don't think it being noncanon instantly invalidates everything that exists in the artwork. It's the only actual depiction of the guy we are scaling and it makes sense that they are just a guy, nothing suggests that they are an otherworldly being, they're just You, playing the game

If it's not canon it's not usable and thus we can't make any assumptions on the player's nature

Well we know they are likely just a regular human considering they have a cabinet full of regular-looking rudimentary objects, plus OFF merchendise below the screen. They're likely just a guy influencing the game with their controller.
