Always been confused about the plane of existence thing, but I would imagine BDE would allow one to still stick around even without their dimensional planes to latch onto.

It's different than that, and more so someone destroying the entire system your verse functions in would stop you from taking any actions, even if you had BDE, because even BDE is still within the limitations of the verse
