I'm sure The Meta's Brute Shot can do enough damage to eventually reduce Alex to a small puddle, especially since the OP gives The Meta basic Knowledge on Alex's abilities. Not the specifics but he knows that Alex can regenerate and that getting touched by him is a bad idea.
