The God of High School Discussion Thread 4: Post-Anime Apocalypse

The Mujin sandbox looks fine.

I don't know how long it'll take me to complete Mori's sandbox. I'm going through a lot of shit mentally, and I have a lot of work to do IRL, so I'm just to stressed all around to focus on its completion.

Dude forget about the Mori sandbox. Work on yourself bro literally **** a sandbox lmao.

Even if it remains as it is now it’s not bad by any means and is pretty fine as it is.

I have several sites where I can read the webtoon translations so I don't need webtoon itself lel 🔥 :alien:

Question if crunchyroll wasn’t involved in the anime would it have made it better? (Talking about the anime of the god of high school)
The problem was the anime just needed to be extended. They tried to compact 110 manhwa chapters (keep in mind a typical manhwa chapter is longer than an average shonen Manga chapter) into a 13 episode anime.

If they did the JJK treatment and made it into 24 episodes even if it costed making the animation a little less speedy in some regards I think would’ve solved just about every issue presented with the anime.

Why didn’t they just get a South Korean company to animate the series though? Just curious.

To be fair though I’m pretty sure out of all the manhwa’s that have been adapted to anime’s god of highschool might have the most popular anime adaptation since I saw a lot more conversation focusing around that then any other Mahwah made anime series.

So season 2 might still be a possibility 🗿

Well I found this that best summarizes the webtoon thing in general (sorry if I’m wrong)

“The main reason is that most Japanese studios do not really fancy adapting Korean webtoons for obvious reasons. Anime, essentially, promotes the Japanese culture and way of life, and webtoons are different in content and style.”

I swear when I saw clips of the anime version there were a lot of Japanese tropes in it. (Not talking the animation style obviously, just a lot of tropes you would find in Japanese animation like the little clouds you find on a person when their angry or the nosebleed thing etc)

it kinda fits the quote above

Japanese companies just can’t help themselves making the anime’s of webtoons look more like something they domestically make instead of an actual webtoon.

I can’t help but suspect some sabotage from them. (They purposefully make the webtoons horrible because of the relations between the two countries)

My issues with it was which can basically be summed up into 3 major ones are:

  • Removal of proper character moments in the beginning. Example: Baek's backstory removal.
  • Changing moments/scenes. Example: like Mira not beating Ilypo.
  • Condensing 114 chapters in 12 eps. This one influencing the first two.

This really messed up the flow and pacing of the show, and made it what it is today. Despite that it got decent reviews from "anime onlys" and since Tower of God is getting a season 2, it is possible that it might but I doubt it.... "High Universal Mori because anime states acupuncture gives you infinite strength"

On other news, Korea is giving a billion Won ( Manhwa/webtoon artists who had reached over a billion views (which GoH did).

Mira not beating Ilpyo really did kinda piss me off because that scene was used for set up for her future struggles and her becoming such a badass in the later arcs (like the Mori Hui arc)

Literally shonen girls who compared to Mira Yoo character development.

Mira not beating Ilpyo was complete bullshit icl, especially with that bullshit they did with Mori beating him in the most weird way possible-
