The Boys discussion thread

I was thinking, should some supers have the same speed as A-train in season 2/3 as reaction speed?

Back in season 3, Deep menaged to Take off guard A-Train off guard 2 times during their first scufle back in season 3

This is also supported as Deep does dodge a sucker punch by A-train with some space between them.

So he does seem to be in that Subsonic ranges of speed.

Mind you, this is a weaker A-Train, so it shouldn't create a problem in the scaling.

The first is because A-Train was off guard and was weaker because of his heart problems

And then in S4 A-Train is not weaker and he blitzes the deep, him dodging that punch is an outlier

Not saing that deep scales to full A train, just post-heart attack.

You can hear the sound cue of A train power activating before Deep starts to dodge.

A-train speed is around 339 m/s at most 375 m/s -ish, deep had distance and dodged a less than what A-train tried to punch.

If math would be applied it should come off as subsonic.

Deep only dodged because he had distance, he did got dogged in the rest of the fight because of A-Train arm range

The scaling i'm proposing is:

POST Hearth attack A-Train = Deep and whoever scales to him << A-train normally

Bts shows that apparently Homelander punched a hole in Frenchie's abdomen off screen. No balls laser or anything, and it wasn't just radiation poisoning Don't have the tweet on me, it's Sukunaonfn2 on Twitter [be careful, it has leaks]

Yeah. I have issues with the show as a whole, but the comics were filled with even more pointless gore and grape. A lot of the criticisms about the show like how they treat Hughie getting assaulted happen in the comic too but 1000x worse. Clone Black Noir eats babies for ***** sake. Ironically, the comic version of Homelander is more moral than his show counterpart.

Also comic Vought were even more incompetent. They made an even stronger clone of Homelander as a defense but never made sure he was psychologically healthy. Also, idk what the point of having Noir as the counter measure when he’s even more insane. What would they have done if Clone Noir joined Homelander instead.

Plus, the comics are just as political FYI.
Black Noir's baby eating scene lowkey is essential to the plot because if Homelander didn't see all that going on he wouldn't go the way he did.

Hughie does also get assaulted in the comics, actually, it's just in a spinoff that's not part of the main series but essential to read for it. Black Noir just kinda runs up, grabs Hughie's dong and goes "nice." I guess Hughie probably didn't recognize his voice because he got freaked out.

They should've had him draw back his arm and then cut to another viewpoint.

In the comic Hughie was assaulted during that version of Herogasm by Noir
who touched him inappropriately with his fingers, it wasn’t just a crotch grab. Also, the comic Noir Homelander twist could’ve worked without adding a baby eating scene. One of the reasons Homelander was gaslighting about the photos of himself doing unspeakable crimes that he couldn’t remember. All of his wanton killing happened after Noir started messing with him. Before Noir, he was a sleazy guy but not a serial killer. So seeing photos of regular murder would’ve been enough to have the same effect. That’s why I think it’s just for shock value
My memory is a little off though because that’s one of the few times SA was handled a bit better than the show. The comic version of Kessler is more egregious than the show by a landslide.
He gets SA'd by monkeys in his ears as a joke. Then Butcher uses a paraplegic Olympian as bait, to get blackmail Kessler, stops him right before he can actually do it, then Butcher has him assaulted.

There’s nothing the show has done as bad as having one of the mains set up someone else to be assaulted.

He had an extreamly huge decline this season in my opinion

I'll prolly be 100% wrong but...

Maybe isolite him, only thing keeping Homelander as dangerus as he is it's his status other than his powers.

Yes homelander is strong, but we already saw that he's still weak to the ancient art of jumping people, 2 people who were somewhat comparable to him (+Hughie) were 1 cm from ending the serie back in herogasm.

Hypotetically, say we have the whole verse against homelander, he's going to lose if everyone fights against him (kinda like monarchy back in the 1700s in france, everybody thought the sistem was above them, but they rebelled and found out it wasn't, homie is the same, he's only strong because we allow him to be).

Stan when talked to MM said something on the lines of "when superheros fall out of fascion, something else will take their place" maybe it's an hypotetical future.

Stan also rappresents corporate, he doesn't care about anything exept his intrest (and he's also not scared of homander whitch pretty much puts him in a safe zone) so i don't think he will care if Homelander causes a bloodbath.

Maybe he's Stan, but i think it's really weird that he had so much mental decline in so little time even for how insane he is.
This isn’t really true. They needed the radioactive blast to have a chance to stop him. Keep in mind that in Season 5, Homelander already had Soldier Boy on his side which Edgar knew. He’s not in charge of Vought, so I doubt he has enough leverage to pull it off. Just being unafraid of him doesn’t work anymore, as A-Train can tell you.

grabs Hughie's dong and goes "nice."
He carried Hughie deep into the sewers and inserted his thumb into him. The sequence is extremely random and unhinged, about 2 panels long, and leaves Hughie traumatised.
So seeing photos of regular murder would’ve been enough to have the same effect.
Content warning for graphic imagery.

I get your point and don't think something as far as baby eating or bathing in the blood of children was necessary, but the idea is that he thinks the actions in these photos are something that a ruthless, amoral, god-like being would do, not someone who'd vomit at the thought of organising a violent coup. Homelander commits a large number of horrific and needless murders because he's an overgrown child, yet he's still a rational guy compared to Noir. So, it'd need to be something utterly depraved even by comparison to what Homelander does later (which includes necrophilia).

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ************* HUGHIE IS A SECONDARY CHARACTER WHEN HE IS THE MAIN CHARACTER?
(not even Charlie morningstar is that secundary in her own show)

I don't fully remember the Noir shit admittedly, I read Herogasm way after I read the main series.

Man, this season is awful.

I had more fun watching Devil May Cry than this.
Ironic how both shows killed off the US president and both were clear stereotypes of the Republican party, it's not even subtle anymore who those jabs are aimed at.
"I bet you never danced a day in your life" is actually all-time top 10 lines for me now, I'm gonna be saying that forever.
What's funny is it has a double meaning, ofc there's the obvious one (HL would likely trip over his cape trying to bust a move tbh) but there's another more nuanced meaning about how despite all the abuse Frenchie went through under his dad and all the horrible stuff he did for Nina (remember her? cause the writers sure don't) he still had the freedom to dance, love and enjoy life while still being on the hook for his past sins, like killing Collin's family (remember him too? cause the writers still don't lol!).

As for John (who also went through awful abuse and essentially had no childhood) he essentially never had that freedom due to his chronic need to seek approval from others, he never truly got to appreciate nor enjoy life because of the role he was mounded to play and even when he "breaks free" from those that would control him, he is still unable to see pass his own ego and emotional instability in order to "dance" despite being able to "do whatever the f*ck he wants" because deep down he is still that scared little boy trapped inside a lab, begging for love from the same people that tortured and experimented on him.

Just like A-Train, Frenchie died a happier and freer man than Homelander will ever be in his life. Seriously he beat the crap out of his own son to the point Ryan has gone missing, he put his own biological father on ice just because Solider Boy wanted to do his own thing away from Vought's corporate bureaucracy and he has become the most powerful being on Earth yet as Sage, Stan Edgar and couple others have pointed out or alluded to, Homelander will never truly be satisfied and as a result, can never dance.

Pardon me, that was way more deeper than I intended.

The scaling i'm proposing is:

POST Hearth attack A-Train = Deep and whoever scales to him << A-train normally
Deep = Post- Heart Attack A-Train's normal speed <<< Post Heart Attack A-Train's speed in short burst or when pushing his limits < Pre Heart Attack A-Train (339 to 341) <<< Post Heart Transplant A-Train (Upscales from Homelander's flight speed)
Also, half related to this.

Why isn't A train speed equal to his r/c speed?
It is?
So do we count V1 being 10x more potent equaling to a 10x stronger buff for Homie or nah?
So far, nah, hopefully never.

Deep = Post- Heart Attack A-Train's normal speed <<< Post Heart Attack A-Train's speed in short burst or when pushing his limits
Deep dodging the punch was an obvious outlier when A-Train literally blitzed him in that entire fight after he dodged

I meant that he only dodged because he had distance over A-Train in that single instance, of course he got blized when A-Train started going full on mele range.

But i suppose it's better for this season to end and then we'll see if the verse needs revisions and such

whereas the newer seasons are more akin to higher budget CW shows
Trust me, higher quality CW fights are much better than this😭

Deep shouldn't be any faster than any other supes without superspeed, hell the boys squad can keep up with him. Realistically deep gets done like Kimiko back in S1 and he does get blitzed still in the fight, legit bro has 0 reason for this instance to not just be an outlier dodge for him when its shown he can't replicate that 2 seconds later

Well, i'll just wait for ep 8 then, so you will finally see how he pulls this with homelander so we can finally give him this so deserved speed upgrade

What are you guys expecting from finale in terms of feats ?

Top tier feats but no upgrades just the same range we have. Superior feats that upscale or just low level street tier - wall tier the show is consistent for ?

I think someone said here that the last episode will have the most budget usage in the whole season, so considering homelander is going to crash out hard here and the fact that we have posters of homelander seemingly having burned a large chunk of ground from space, i expect that Homie will possibly have feats that will take him tier 7 at absolute best low tier 6

For a verse like this that only ever shows 9-B feats 95% of the time I'm expecting their biggest shit to be maybe High 8-C or 8-B tops for visual feats since in real life the scale of something like that is massive and much bigger than what people on this site think
