The Boys discussion thread

It's just clear that Homelander has higher LS than Soldier Boy, while they're both comparable in AP. It's similar to how Soldier Boy is superior to Bombsight in LS but comparable in AP.

And why is SB stronger than Maeve ? They never fought and the only common enemy they fought is HL. Where Maeve performed leagues better.
This is legit a "don't f with The Boys fans, we don't watch the show"

Soldier Boy is the only, keyword there, supe that was almost as strong as Homelander.

It's perfectly safe to use because sucker punching someone doesn't make you stronger or them less durable.
You are indeed less durable when you are off guard, sucker punches can knock people out despite them being able to handle several normal blows
HL was guess working here from the stories, he later mocks SB for not even lasting a minute

1. Homelander only looked up at Soldier Boy because of the stories he has heard. In the fight he litreally decimated him in 1v1, and in 1v2 with Temp V Butcher. They are not comparable.

2. Maeve didn't get that kind of praise because she was training in secret and Homelander already looked down on her. Her objective performance was better.

3. Sucker punches infact to more damage. When you are unprepared, your muscles are loose. There is a reason boxers clench their jaw.

4. Before Homelander. And Soldier himself admits that it only happened because Clara hadn't met Him yet.

That's not due to durability, that's due how your brain moves.
No. In this wiki especially being off guard does mean you are less durable. But also in real life.

Even at worse, Soldier boy is equal to Ryan in power since both drew blood from Homelander. This still leaves Ryan with Higher AP with heat vision, Higher combat speed with flight, far far higher range, better senses and ofcourse the Gohan special.

Rage asspull.

They are not comparable.
I explicitly said I don't think they're similar in strength. In fact, I actually agree with your take that Ryan and SB are similar in raw strength (though, like I said, I think SB is faster and more durable than Ryan). However, SB is not wildly different to HL.
Homelander already looked down on her.
HL literally wanted to have babies with her, even to the point of freezing her eggs, because she's really strong and could bear a son who's twice as strong as Ryan. He doesn't look down on her as a person because of her strength, he looks down on her because he sees her as an object.
Her objective performance was better.
A) HL didn't want to fight her to begin with, B) HL overpowered Maeve and gouged her eye out 40 seconds into the fight.

I will say, though, I also think Maeve and SB are on a similar level from when they restrained HL.
3. Sucker punches infact to more damage. When you are unprepared, your muscles are loose. There is a reason boxers clench their jaw.
Boxers clench their jaws to stabilise their head and mandibles against rotation and because it's an isometric strategy, not because it affects the tensile strength of your skin and flesh or anything. The mouth guards are primarily the things that protect their jaws from actual damage during a fight.
4. Before Homelander. And Soldier himself admits that it only happened because Clara hadn't met Him yet.
The point wasn't about comparing him to Homelander, the point was comparing him to Maeve. She's never got that kind of praise outside of a deleted scene.

Your source is years old and 1 staff member's opinion.

I have fought in full contact since 12. Take it from college delinquent, a sucker punch hurts far more. The mouth guard is there to press on to so your teeth don't grind and they don't come loose. I did however hate the mouth guard. It was that premade cheap stuff and cut the back of my gums. Good times.

I'm not saying it doesn't feel less painful, bear in mind. But, anyway, I think we can end it here since we seem to agree that SB and S5 Ryan are at least sort of in the same league in terms of physical strength.

Not sure if this would apply (it's mainly thoracic stiffness and primarily focuses on thigh muscles) or if you can read the full article, but the sources within seem to suggest it's quite minimal in terms of affecting energy absorption and mainly affects perceived pain rather than injury (IIRC, that's due to how pain works in tendons or some shit).

Wait.
Did Soldier Boy... Like. Turned out to be not comparable to Homelander?
Did HL got buffed?
Did SB got nerfed?
What is happening in Season 5?
Why is Samuel L. Jackson a Hammmerhead Shark?

They should have kept Soldier Boy awake and had Ryan fight and beat him in 1v1. V1 vs Natural born.

Not only this would be a baller fight. Since Soldier Boy thinks he cheated with getting V, while Ryan was born with his powers.

But it would also help cement Homelander higher since he low diffed both Ryan and SB.
About that

They deadass ended his character with being chocked out and put back on ice😭😭✌️

Vought rising is prequel so Boys Mexico it is. Genuinely wtf was the point of Soldier Boy ?

Here is the thing, giving Homelander V1 doesn't count. The V1 plot exists because of soldiers boy.

You could simply write it so that the virus can't kill Homelander but kill the other Supes. And nothing changes, just removes the pointless fetch quest.

You can still have the Boys debate over using the virus as it helps them take out Homelander's army and the potential power vaccum (Butcher and Annie's point) vs Hughie's canon stance.

Really he just was here to promote Vought rising and because of Kripke wanting a supernatural reunion. At the expense of the Final season of the Boys.

gen v just got cancelled and they’re really putting all their stock in this vought rising spin-off stuff— but the show’s literal main character wont even be in the finale of this one

why tf would i even care about soldier boy anymore if he’s a scrub who flip flops every episode and gets choked out by homelander like a jabroni. and he wont even get his getback? just exit stage left?

dawg if jensen ackles was not playing this character, the slander would be generational

Nah they can’t kill him off they have to have him alive for season 3 of Vought Rising when it turns from a prequel to a sequel and for cameos in The Boys: Breaking Ba- I mean Mexico

What even is happening in this show anymore bruh

So uhm,Kimiko nukes Homie,Butcher sacrifices himself to kill Homelander, earth is saved from tyranny. And soldier boy remains a popsicle😭😭.
I cant even attempt to defend that character execution.
(These emoji suck)

Wait.
This is the ending or a leak?

Soldier Boy gonna have a prequel and sequel at this point 😭 deadass see no other way they justify just keeping him there...

And stan edgar is more than likely succeeding in the end. He will probably end off as the CEO of Vought at the very end of the episode, where we'll see that he was completely correct in his "cycle" theory.

They should have Kimiko wearing Soldier Boy's costume next episode because she'd look cute in it and its like he's doing anything

There is no way Vought survives this. Homelander is the only reason the company is still standing in USA, most likely sanctioned in other countries.

Three more days. I am not watching Vought rising and Boys Mexico out of spite. Even if Private angel is a total bombshell.

The comics weren't great, but what I like about them is that the sequel and each spin-off was a genuine companion piece to the original comic whose presences enhanced the quality of the mythos instead of detracting from it. I'd even say Dear Becky was vastly superior to the original in pretty much every way.

If I had to write and pace the final season.

Episode 1 - Most things stay the same. Two major changes. Butcher is strong enough to keep up with HL but can't beat him. HL is strong enough to demolish Butcher but can't kill him due to cancer regen, putting them in a stalemate. A Train get's lasered in the gut, thus explaining the speed decrease. The rest is same.

Episode 2 - Homelander realizes Butcher + the virus might be too much to take out alone, plus his general loneliness makes him free Soldier Boy. The rest is the same.

Episode 3 - SB survives, the V1 plot kicks in. Homelander has the angel titty dream. Remove the entire Clara plot. SB hates Butcher for betraying him in S3 and nearly killing him painfully last episode, so he wants to get Butcher and the Boys (he is vengeful so consistent with his character). Everything else goes as it is.

Episode 4 - Both parties end up at Fort Harmony. Here we get the true changes. No Vought rising bs, fck that. The beast of Fort Harmony is real, except it's a actual beast. It's already established in S4 that animals are actually far better at taking V and can just straight up drink diluted V and still get powers. So a Bear ate some supe corpses and now is prowling the area.

Both gangs arrive, but Frenchie notices the signs and helps them sneak inside the building, while Homelander and SB argue all the way, getting noticed. HL and SB fight the V'd up bear. Homelander saves SB a couple times, which shifts SB's view on him. Homelander sees Butcher and the Gang getting to V1 inside, but is to exhausted and injured from the bear. SB helps him get the V1, killing Frenchie in the process. MM convinces everyone to run as Homelander injects himself with V1 and passes out after the laser scene (the reason why the boys escape.)

Half done. Imma go eat a mango and continue.

Literally the whole point of the kessler arc. What's the point of powers if he is just irrelevant. And a way to make sure the boys can realistically survive. Also I said keep up, not challange. Like how Annie can keep up with Stormfront but not beat her.

Continuing on.

Episode 5 - Homelander wakes up but is dissatisfied with only ruling America. Soldier Boy suggests attacking the Soviet Union (a big part of his character is his "Soldier" image and fighting the commies) but is told that it got dissolved so Homelander just tells the president to declare war on Russia as a gift to his father so he can be a war hero again. Everyone tries to convince Homelander that it is a bad idea, but he kills the POTUS and forces Ashely to do it. The boys are in hiding as the episode focuses mostly on Homelander making terrible decisions that ignite a chain of events isolating and weakening USA to the point that the Military now starts planning real intervention and takes in the Boys for help. Jared and Misha cameo here as CIA and Homeland security directors if you want. Firecracker storyline here.

Episode 6 - Homelander is out in Russia decimating their army with Soldier boy while Sage, Oh Father, Noir II, Deep, Dogknot and a few other supes along with Vought's armed teams are in Vought tower. US military gives Butcher a suit case nuke and if you haven't figured it out yet, yes... we are about to Johnny Silverhand that shit. Here we see the Scorched Earf as the episode is going to a raid style floor to floor action sequence, Hughie tries to make it to the announcement room to evacuate the building and save the innocent employees (which would also warn the supes inside), but Butcher grabs him with this tendril and forces him on to the extraction helicopter, they gain distance and Butcher detonates the suitcase killing dozens of Supes, and thousands of innocent people as collateral for taking down Vought. The episode ends with Homelander getting the news than Butcher destroyed Vought Tower.

to be continued.

What do you think are the chances of the Virus still being used???
Its proven to be somewhat effective against V1 supes(Knocked them unconscious and caused some wounds).
Plus it appeared in the teaser.

Man I hate that one of my favourite series is going to get a bad Finale.
