Tyler Durden (Fight Club) vs Walter White (Breaking Bad)

Ground Rules:
  • Both have 1 month of prep time
  • Both have access to all equipment they can realistically get their hands on
  • Tyler has the assistance of Project Mayhem during the prep period, though not during the fight
  • Walter has the assistance of Gus's entire drug empire at it's peak in BB during the prep period, though not during the fight
  • Both have the knowledge on each other they could realistically get during that time
  • Tyler is in control of Narrator's body during the fight & entire prep period
Who Wins?

In any physical fight Walter gets his ass kicked 99.99% of the time

For prep time Walt can make a shit load of fulminated mercury, pipe bombs, phosphine gas, guns, cars, etc. Most of which will oneshot the narrator.

The Narrator can get a ton of soap, nitroglycerine, guns, and some other stuff probably, which will oneshot Walt

Walt can maybe set some traps or try to physically throw some bombs at Tyler normally which would be pretty difficult to dodge especially since Walt also has guns at his disposal. Tyler's nitroglycerine is dangerous for both sides since depending on where he is when he tries to set it off (he'd have to be pretty damn far) he'd probably end up killing himself along with Walter.

So it basically comes down to who can set the better traps and also who’s a better shot

Walt is probably more skilled/experienced with firearms (Although he's not spectacular either so this fight might take awhile regardless) and setting up traps imo.

Tyler can make explosives weaker than the Nytroglicerine, such as the TnT he used in his apartment, which can be used for smaller scale explosives

Important question: Are they allowed to interfere with each other's prep? As I'm assuming they are aware they are prepping for a fight. Because if so, Tyler has at his disposal members of the police as part of Project Mayhem, and presumably workers for the banking companies he blew up. As such, he might be able to disrupt Gus' operation, which greatly handicaps Walter's resources here (if not directly converting these operatives into Project Mayhem members through his busted Social Influencing).

Walter also wouldn't be able to effectively learn of Project Mayhem, as they are so loyal to Tyler's manipulations, not even "Tyler himself" (The Narrator) could get them to interfere with it, so Walter has no true way of even learning the scale that Tyler can reach, while Tyler could effectively learn of the drug trade through manipulating police.

Is there any rules talking about interfering with others prep? Because if not I feel like this is a point that should be brought up more in prep matches

If having Project Mayhem's assistance makes things unfair, we can just remove the outside help for each of them and make them both work solo

I wouldn't say it's necessarily unfair. It's just, Tyler beats him straight up lol. He forces Walt into his Season 5 state, where he's running and bidding his time, using whatever kind of resource he can get to try and later kill Tyler (and even with the bare minimum, Walt is indeed very resourceful, using basic kitchen equipment and few chemicals to build the bomb which he used to kill Gus, or how he made fulminated mercury)

Since Tyler won't have protection for the proper fight, Walt could use his own stealth shenanigans (however low as they are) to get him by surprise. It's just unlikely that happens before Tyler can catch him or trap and kill him with his own explosives.

So is this a vote for Tyler?
