The Amazing Digital Circus General Discussion Thread [Spoilers]

Didnt one of the characters get split to pieces and then put back together? I forgot her name lol

Edit: Zooble is her name iirc
Zooble is made of detachable parts, & based on Zolo blocks, hence being modular like that. It's Zooble's gimmick, I'm pretty sure.
The others aren't based on Zolo & being able to do that too would be kinda stepping on Zooble's metaphorical toes & devaluing the uniqueness of that character trait of Zooble's, I'd say.

We've discussed it in this thread, but as is, they have at least Type 1, not needing to eat, sleep, not aging, etc. They should probably get Type 8 (Reliant), as assumedly, if the computer/simulation they're stuck in was turned off, they would die. I am unsure if they do meet the requirements for Type 2 yet though, as we would probably need more to make such a case. Zoobles is a good place for such a case to start though.
Would Zooble being made of attachable parts mean she would have regeneration?
Actually, yes. At least High-low: 'The ability to regenerate severed fingers, toes, or ears, minor organ damage, and even potentially reattach lost limbs.'

Shouldn’t she get Mid regen then? Cuz she also lost her head and was later able to reattach it
Maybe, probably. Idk how specific the regeneration needs to be, but they at the least meet the requirements for High-low, and head being detachable/re-attachable, are likely higher. I just don't know if they would be accepted at Low-Mid, or Mid. Hell, with High-Mid, could they 'regenerate from being blown/cut to pieces, brain included?'

Worst case scenario she would still get regeneration which is a pretty nifty ability. High-Mid regen would be crazy and I kinda doubt it based on what weve already been shown (It seems more like she's just able to detach limbs and stuff) But who knows? Maybe later in the series she’ll be shown to be able to detach/reattach her soul

Would Zooble being made of attachable parts mean she would have regeneration?
I'm not sure.
Closest is:
High-Low: The ability to regenerate severed fingers, toes, or ears, minor organ damage, and even potentially reattach lost limbs. For machines and vehicles, this would be regenerating some interior damage, along with some minor critically damaged or destroyed parts.

There is a statement about Zooble having a "Zooble Box", but AFAIK, we haven't seen them replace a damaged or destroyed lost part, the Gloinks just took them apart, nor have we seen this Zooble Box.
So we don't know if any old parts were replaced with new ones.
Is it regen when it's just putting back together parts that were moved away from one another, not damaged & aren't organic?
No broken wires, no severed metal, etc.

It's like putting a Lego brick back on a tower of Lego bricks it got knocked off of. It wasn't really damaged, just separated.

IDK about Type 8. We haven't seen that the simulation will remake/recreate/fix them, beyond Caine fixing their bodies if he's alerted to it.
& the Abstracted being thrown in the basement suggests not all the performers are that attended to, so being auto-healed seems dubious, too.

But it does seem like yeah, they're reliant on the simulation to not die.

Agreed on more info needed for Type 2, especially for non-Zooble characters.

I think technically they'd still be considered, as it includes things like the reattachment of limbs, but yeah: We don't actually see any body parts destroyed, replaced, etc.

Type 8 is reliant: "The character gets benefited by 1 or more other types of Immortality as long as a certain being, object, place, and/or concept or more may grant them those benefits, losing them otherwise." The certain place in this case being the simulation/computer, which we know for a fact provides them Type 1.

To be totally fair I think it was stated somewhere that the abstracted cannot be healed. Although yeah auto healing likely isn't the case it's probably more to do with the fact that they are literally incapable of dying in the digital world because there isn't anything to really kill especially if we go by matpats theory (I know it's a theory and therefore can't be used but I just thought it was worth bringing up)

Yeah, it's unclear if they can die. Don't recall if there was dialogue specifying it.
SEEMINGLY not.
There's also Caine saying to "drown yourself in the digital lake" as a feature, but that could just be 1 of his creator-noted misunderstandings of humans.
Or maybe a darkly comedic reference to the in-game actions done on some supposedly human NPCs by some Rollercoaster Tycoon fans.

IIRC, Gooseworx said on Tumblr that Abstraction is permanent, & everyone's Abstracted form is the same.

Ah, so the thing gives them Type 8 ONLY because it grants them Type 1, even if all their reliance means is if computer/simulation goes, so do they?

Probably, and idt they can die unless it's through code destruction, hence Type 8

They did! Forget where, but I think someone posted it somewhere on the forums

Yeah. It's safe to assume that the simulation/computer going down would mean they go down too. Maybe given they were converted to code, they could technically be 'saved' onto the computer or simulation, and as such they may have more room for immortality, like the computer needing to be outright destroyed, or simulation entirely deleted?

But unless they're actually all still outside at the computer, or the simulation retains their human forms, and they weren't converted into the digital realm and actually had their bodies replaced, they are reliant on the computer/simulation in order to not age, need sustenance, sleep, etc.

Their code being saved seems like something that needs evidence.
I'd call it a possibly at best only because of logistics from external analysis:
1. Caine can snap his fingers to put them back to normal. In computer stuff, this could be like loading a backup of a program.
2. Jax said they've been there for years. If Jax the jokester wasn't joshing us, either there's some time rate difference like in Reboot & Digimon or this simulation's been running a long time. On that note, it's weird that the computer in the VR is off & looks dirty/damaged, but the IRL computer is clean yet on. (Albeit, with a brightly pure white screen. Obfuscating much?)

But a lot of those conclusions aren't directly stated, but rather audience speculation; We don't know HOW exactly Caine fixes beyond what he does -Snaps his fingers- to initiate fixing nor if there's time dilation, if Jax is being honest, etc.

Hence my preference of a "Possibly" here as well.

Mmm. Although, unsure it was stated they don't age. It seems plausible that they don't, though.
Also, does this cover the possibility that they're just mind scans/copies?

Oh yeah: Was just throwing out the saved data as possibly being part of the Type 8 immortality. Also damn, my memory's shot lol

It is interesting to think about how Caine fixed them beyond a finger snap. Due to it being damage to their code, it is likely some sort of back up code, or files being uncorrupted, or something of the like. Again though, we may only have the 'how' simply be thanks to a 'backup,' and not get anything more on it. At least until we get more on Caine himself, assuming there may be much more to him than we know.

While Jax is largely sarcastic, he only seems to outright lie when it's about Abstracted Kaufmo. Otherwise, Zoobles backs him up on Pomni's new 'home and body,' and nobody says anything in objection, or in response to correct Jax after he says they've been stuck for years, even despite the ensuing awkward silence, and after the freak out by Pomni saying she thinks it's a dream, in which there's another awkward silence. Such silences speaks louder than words could.

I agree on the Caine point in that regard, but I think we've enough reason to believe Jax if no one else seemed to disagree or object. So he's probably right.

Isn't the implication of them having set ages, yet being in there for years that they aren't aging? I could be interpreting that wrong.

Also another thing that idk if we're going to get an answer to until CAINE or something about him is likely revealed

I like the theory that it’s kinda like that one black mirror episode where they download a digital clone on to a computer which would actually make a lot of sense and would 100% give them eternal life.

Well, we don't know if he's loading back ups, debugging errors or what, & that's just from a technological perspective.

I'd say it's speculation for now.

About the ages, I guess they technically wouldn't be aging, but obviously, these aren't their real bodies. The official website says:
A woman gets trapped in a crazy virtual world along with five other humans and are now subject to the whims of wacky AI and their own personal traumas.

Obviously, there's no way Jax was "human" & also looked like he does in TADC "in real life", same for say, Gangle, Zooble & the others.
Their ages outside the simulation/game/program that is TADC are separate from their ages "IRL", but it's those "IRL ages" that are presumably what GW's statement on the performer's ages is referring to.

Ragatha may be 30, but she could've been there, for example, for 3 years, & only be 30 chronologically.
Or she was 30 when entering.

I doubt they've all been trapped in TADC for over 2 decades each, but simply put, I don't think that we know how the stated ages relate to when they entered, &/or if the ages are mental, chronological &/or physical.

& obviously, though the series is concerned with their digital days, those "avatars" not aging doesn't mean their real bodies aren't aging.

For clarification, here's what's said about the ages:

This post from September 6th was strangely hard to find:

spirit-of-a-kiger asked:
I have 2 big questions about the initial teaser that have been bugging me forever.

1. What was Pomni saying when Caine was talking over her ("Don't worry, my dear! You won't even die horribly! :D")?

2. Please settle this once and for all: Was Pomni eating something when Caine snatched her up, or is that just a running gag in the fandom?

GW: "What are you doing??? STOP! I didn't agree to this!!!"

And she was canonically eating a sandwich.

In fact, even after finding it & Googling exact text from it in quote, the post doesn't show up. Best as I can figure out is that page is delisted from Google, AKA, censored for Google results in my region for who-knows-what reason.

But yeah. It comes after the teaser (obviously.) but predates the pilot, so IDK how validly canon it is, but it clarifies dialogue in the teaser, & als Pomni's pre-TADC state.
Lore?

Gonna post about some other stuff, since Gooseworx did more posting on Tumblr.

Does anyone know if this image is official or something made by fans?

The TADC wiki seems to have removed character height from pages, so that's probably no longer usable.

Example: Before and now.

Apparently they eliminated that information due to lack of sources, as indicated by this old version of the page where it says "[citation needed]".

Anyway I was never sure if that wiki is official. So I'll try to calculate the height of the characters myself.

All true, and we're still looking to find if this is official. Seems official, and allegedly is early model sheet, but again, we're still unsure unfortunately.

Speaking of, you know how I said earlier tonight?:
Gonna post about some other stuff, since Gooseworx did more posting on Tumblr.
Well, now seems like a pretty good time to inform you all with the good news & the bad news on that topic!

The good news:
We found out someone's official(?) height!
The bad news:
It's Caine's!
The height we were given is "shourt" [sic].

Ah nuts

What's wrong? I mean, if Pomni is an average female height, being the same height as her would be short for a male, no?
& if Caine weren't floating in the height chart, he would visually align with that, right?
An optimistic way to view it. Given we already have a few accepted calcs, and Pomni in an accepted calc is at the average female height of 5'4", it might be feasible to just operate off that. If it works, it works.

Idk at this point I just wish there were official numbers 😵

Agreed, lol.

Other info from GW's Tumblr:
GW: "I love throwing in as many references as I can to my obscure 70s hyperfixations."

kyleak04 asked: why is jax afraid of corn?

GW: It reminds him of the farm.
(Note: Some fans have speculated this could relate to Jax wearing overalls, as farmers do.)

We also have been given a photo-based answer for what kind of swimsuit Jax would wear. Tumblr is a PG-13 site, so AFAIK, this link is SFW.

opposite-dhmis-deactivated20231 asked:
Salutations! I have a question me and my friends are confused because we don't know the sexualities of the characters so uh can u clarify thanks -Misa

GW: That's crazy.

IIRC, GW has previously expressed openness/indifference to how people ship the TADC characters, so I'm guessing this is reinforcing that. I think that the takeaway from that is probably that anything romantic for the show will be purely fan speculation.

Female Jax & Male Pomni (Something depicted in 1 of GW's sketches.) (re?)-affirmed to be non-canon; It was "considered" and then GW "didn't roll with it".

itzskindamaging asked: Will there be any really depressing episodes

GW: Welcome to the Amazing Digital Circus, baybeeeee!

did-i-pass-the-turing-test asked: Caine strikes me as the kind of being to not understand verbal pranks (example: 'Joe Mama', 'Updog' etc). Even after having them explained he'd probably take them literally. He'd also probably fall for them often.
Except for Bubble. Bubble knows every verbal prank. Not sure how she just does.

GW: Caine would definitely fall for all of them.
(Info about Caine's intelligence.)

Also, from the Twitter:
GW: In a lot of the pre-release stuff for TADC, I went out of my way a lot to say it's not meant to be a horror show, but everyone keeps calling it horror even though it isn't scary.

Also, in the replies, in response to someone saying the scene where Dr. Football sends a screaming mask at Pomni was the only part they found scary, GW says: Damn, I put that in because I thought it was funny.

Humanoid Hash Brown: What is the age demographic aiming for? I have a good idea from the pilot but im curious.
GW: me
(Note from me, Imaginym: It surprises me that someone would already be naming themself "Humanoid Hash Brown".)

Though, I think the Twitter info is a little less substantial, & only MIGHT be useful for speculation.

Such is the nature of Gooseworx responses. Either crucial Word of God, or 'I did it for me' xd

The bad part about this is that all the calculations will have to be redone.
Thank you for the work. Unsure I like the conclusions, & I'd be surprised if when GW said Caine was "shourt", she meant around 120 cm.
Still, let's see what comes of this.
I agree. The door link, while to what seems like an average door, doesn't account for the specific of it being an 'exit door' (which some have said is apparently a specific kind of door we could use to measure them?). As we've discussed, sizing of a lot of objects too are also very disproportionate to how they would be in real life (best example being the barrel of monkeys and monkeys being the size of the cast), making it tough to actually scale them to anything. Additionally, You calculate Jax's height including his ears, and Caine including his hat instead of just from the ground to the top of their heads.

I'm not against redoing the Jax calc again, especially if we get a better, more concrete height, though I'll be honest and say I'm dubious of both the methodology, and the conclusions with this one, no offense. Still appreciate the work and effort you did in this, and aiming to find more coherent heights.

I can't think of why an "exit door" should be extremely higher or lower than an average door. I mean, I figured that calculating Pomni's height based on the door makes a lot more sense than just assuming that Pomni is as tall as the average woman, especially when we later see her walking in this place and she still looks quite short compared to various objects, she is just a little taller than the chairs and tables, and much shorter than several pieces of furniture that are there. And apparently, that place is heavily based on a real location outside of the digital world, as seen here where you see the same table and computer that you see here.

I thought that's how it should be measured.

Unpleasant a thing as this may be to say.... I find myself inclined to agree.

I dunno why an exit door would be much bigger than a regular door. MAYBE for ease of fire escape safety, but especially for an office, most doors would have to comply with that anyway, no?

Looking at the video, Pomni is practically eye level with the door handles. That does not seem like "average woman" height when your forehead is prime grounds for a collision with a doorknob.
Still appreciate the work and effort you did in this, and aiming to find more coherent heights.
I share & appreciate this sentiment, & am glad we agree on at least this.

It means that Gloink Queen will returned in Episode 2, which would actually implies that Gloink Queen managed to survived the beating from Abstracted Kaufmo, but dunno how they are gonna deal with their code being damaged by him...

Didn’t we discuss Caine’s finger snapping thingy to be a cure-all or something earlier?
