Super Mario - Travel Speed VS Combat Speed

Not open for further replies.
Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Accelerated Evolution, VSBW Member. I am not writing a massive verse-wide revision nor am I working on an significant upgrade or downgrade for the franchise, so let's get down to cases: Our Speed sections for Mario are kinda of wacky. I wonder if anyone knows from where i got the idea for this quote

We currently index two MFTL+ calcs that fall under a reaction speed rating rather than travel speed, so i'd suggest some feats to be used for the characters movement speed:
The value proposed to be used is obviously the Mach 293.2 one, of course, the Massively FTL+ rating will not be downgraded, it would instead be changed to "Massively Hypersonic with Massively FTL+ reactions and combat speed"

I think characters such as Dreamy Bowser, Zeekeeper and Dreamy Luigi can keep their MFTL+ movement, though, since the latter showed to be fast enough to quickly travel to a sun and across interestellar distances in matter of seconds

There are probably a lot more of feats, those are just some that i found by myself and that i think that are legit specifically for travel speed (And trust me, while i'm far from the most knowledgeable person on Mario, i've searched through several of them), any additional feat would be appreciated

Thanks for @DimeUhDozen for making the two original threads that inspired this one

Why exactly are these feats travel speed? almost all of these seem to me like combat and reactions speed feats

Travel speed is the speed at which a character travels running from one place to another, and combat speed is
the speed at which a character can fight

Wario is fighting while moving in tandem with the lighting, he moves from one side to the other several times and even grabs and throws that enemy, all of this he does while fighting

Mario jumping to lighting speed is the same, he does all this while fighting
against that Lakitu

Paper Mario and sound waves are the same, he does it while fighting enemies

Mario outruns the cannonballs, but he does so while the he dodges, stomps them, and makes several jumps from one side to the other, that seems more combat speed than travel speed

Paper Mario moving in tandem with the lighting is literally combat/reactions speed, he is just dodging them, he is not
being faster than lighting in a race or something like that

The only feat presented here that seems like travel speed to me is Mario traveling around the island, everything else is combat and reactions speed

He moves from one place to another in a similar speed to lightning

That's textbook travel speed

Mario jumping to lighting speed is the same, he does all this while fighting
against that Lakitu
Re-read the comment i leave on the OP

He is literally outrunning the sound waves lmao

Still, his natural speed is showed as far faster than the cannonballs

Paper Mario moving in tandem with the lighting is literally combat/reactions speed, he is just dodging them, he is not
being faster than lighting in a race or something like that
Watch the entire video, he briefly physically moves in tandem with the lightning by walking

Honestly, your comment seems to be a massive misconception on the feats presented

As I said before, all of these feats occur while the characters are fighting and dodging, which would make them combat and reactions speed feats,
and not feats of travel speed since they do not move from one place to another without fighting something or dodging things thrown at them

Paper Mario outruns the sound waves while fighting the enemy, Also paper Mario "outruns" the lighting in a moment when he was being bombarded by lighting, it's more of a feat of dodging (combat/reaction speed) than travel speed.

Mario feat traveling around the island is more travel speed, since Mario did not fight I didn't dodge anything during that travel

(Although of course, if the use of "outruning things" feats during a fight is valid for travel speed, I would like to know since the speed page of the wiki does not explain it clearly OR AT LEAST I have not seen it yet)

It is

By "fighting" the Speed page means a combination of the speed of physical attacks + the reaction needed to dodge and counterattack them, not running from a place to another

okay, if so then I will show some possible feats to keep travel speed in MFTL+

But first a question, is the speed of the projectiles fired by the characters combat speed or travel speed?

It is attack speed

React to such a projectile moving at your direction would be reaction speed
I know it is attack speed, but I meant that if the speed of the projectiles (Attack speed) is the same as the combat speed of the characters, for example if Bowser's fire also MFTL+? (and it should be, since it is capable of hitting Mario without this being able to dodge it sometimes)

Some MFTL+ travel speed feats for Mario:

1- Mario can outrun the koopa clown car, which flew towards the sun and from their home planet to a nearby galaxy in a short period of time (Even the Koopa clown car has a similar speed to the mini stars, which traveled through the space in seconds, as can be seen in the previous video)

2- Mario can run in tandem with Dreamy Luigi, who traveled interstellar distances in seconds.

3- Mario can run and grab Bowser tail before he can react (Bowser has MFTL+ reactions, Mario had to have run at those speeds or else Bowser would have easily stopped him from running to his back)

I don't really have an opinion on the thread but if you do end up splitting it I'd recommend specifying that MFTL+ is travel speed, rather than only specifying what the combat speed is
