Question
I remember reading that the Prima Guide is not considered acceptable evidence here, so it made me wonder
Is the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia considered fair to use? At least the Japanese version?

Actual dedicated lore books =/= guide written by steve the literal who that only has negligible interactions with reliable lore sources.

Like mind you, some strategy guides can be useful or used, the MGS pocket ones legit and have direct lore and slop from Kojipro for example, but Prima is 99% of the time not that.

Normal guidebooks can sometimes be useful if they have an Q&A or something. I can't remember which game it was exactly but one of the castlevania games had a bradygames guide, and while lore not backed up by the game or given by anyone that worked on the story shouldn't be used there was a section at the end of where Iga himself gave some lore, like how candles contained trapped souls taken by vampires or death (Not anything new for the latter but gave vampires in general soul stuff).

The yellow book from 2015?
yep, the yellow book

oh yeah, I am aware that Prima is unreliable (and I 100% agree), my question is for the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia, the yellow book that was published in 2015 by Shogakukan with supervision and collaboration with Nintendo. I read in the Mario wiki that the English version had been accused of mistranslations and plagiarism, so that one should be disregarded, but the Japanese original should still be fair game in my intuition, right? Or is the stance of the forum on this book different than I assume?

That's fine, I'm using Shogakukan Zelda guides myself for some stuff (Given they're actively cited in Zelda Encyclopedia as canon sources) and are directly worked on with Nintendo and devs and stuff.

Go ******* wild with the raws, it's legit just a canon lorebook, no different from any other databook.

All of it, pls and ty.
THINK I GOT IT!

Tell me if I missed anything!

(Checked in the morning, yup! This is it! was 100,000 the previous high-end value for amount of universes? Cuz... Oh boy, let me just tell you, seeing as this guy is a universe-hopping threat, PAPER MARIO scaling is possible for this guy with a bit of work. Even without, 100,000 universes should be a thing of the past. With some time, I'm thinking of a CRT based on this...

I don't know of much reason to oppose. I haven't played Brothership, mind you, but the scans seem clear & reasonable.
There might be some contention about PM scaling, but I'm neutral on that.

Paper Mario scaling works regardless of whether you follow "The first three Paper Mario games are the same as Mario" or "All the games took place in the storybook realm". Concordia is another world in the Marioverse, just like the book. He could easily just travel there.

But really, we all know the answer is the first --- we have way too much evidence for it rather than against it. I'm just scratching the tip of the iceberg here.

But above all else, it'd revolve around what the Pure Hearts are made of --- could bond power fuel them?

I'll be working on that too.

Regardless, Reclusa has the potential to create an infinite amount of dream worlds per universe, hypothetically, due to Mario universes being infinite in size. That's the main takeaway here. That, and that he's a concept, or the spirit/embodiment of isolation. We might just be able to get the Bros. conceptual erasure here! There might be some scanlations implying fate manipulation for the bros too.

Hoping to get some feedback from some other Mario scaling experts as well~

I'm thinking of moving this to a CRT thread once I finish Reclusa's VSBW profile

You should probably make the CRT before the profile, if there are things about it that should be subject to argument.
Was initially planning to set Reclusa as 2-B, scaling to the Bros, and then try a CRT... But Imma try your option.
But just wondering, how do you think a CRT would go? Does this look good so far?

I haven't kept up. I'd rather see the arguments listed out in a more properly-presented way than try to glean them from a back and forth to evaluate them.

Haven't looked at the arguments in depth but personally I don't think Reclusa being able to knock the hammers from Mario and Luigis hand while Dreamy Bowser couldn't is noteworthy, the bros beating Dreamy Bowser is treated as an outlier for them.

If you cheat in TTYD happy lucky lottery by changing the system clock to get different prizes, and admit to it when you talk to the Bob-bomb, he shuts the game off by exploding and says that if you cheat again he’ll end the game permanently

This is just a goofy fourth wall break

Yep, sounds 100% legit. Everyone and their mom should scale to this too, even though they get one shot by said explosion

I usually come back here every few weeks to see where the thread has progressed and bro-

This has got to be the hardest I've ever laughed in months, the unexpectedness of it made it f#×king hilarious my dude.

That being said, while I would really love to help, there's not much I can do because I'm bad at le maths. Now that the verse is High 6-A, finding feats in this range or higher would be the priority. We've got one calced 5-C feat with Dark Bowser's storm, so perhaps Tier 5 would be of interest.

The main issue is the lack of motivation to find/calc 'em from what I've observed (with all due respect to you all!). If you guys can find feats that you believe would perhaps warrant an upgrade, then maybe I could have a friend do some calcing at least.

I personally never understood Dreamy Bowser being treated as an outlier. Regardless, Reclusa is still is effectively a living super dream stone considering his creation/destruction potential with dream worlds. The Mushroom Kingdom is VASTLY more populated than Pi'illo Island as displayed in this blog post.
Like, 100k dream worlds? Reclusa can do 98,303,150+ dream worlds!

The Google Doc isn't presented well? How should I format a CRT if what's in the doc is inadequate?

I don’t think Reclusa’s worlds count, they’re illusions.
They're more of artificial dream worlds than illusions. Factors of Dream Worlds line up with Reclusa's dream worlds.

You retain coins and items you obtain, and Reclusa refers to them as worlds, and other characters do the same. I see no reason Reclusa's worlds shouldn't count.

I mean on the one hand I get it, on the other I don’t think Bowser’s entire stockpile of 90 million troops made it to Concordia.
They certainly didn't, what matters is Reclusa threatening to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom, which is depicted as larger than Bowser's Kingdom in most media.

Yeah, I do suppose them taking tangible coins out of Reclusa’s world qualifies them as real worlds. And the site does accept dream worlds as universal by default (I don’t but that’s more just a personal take). So, yeah I guess there’s a case for Reclusa being a high degree of multiversal.
