Why is it called street level? It seems that destroying a street is more impressive than destroying a wall, yet it is actually weaker.

"Street level" is a colloquialism used to express someone as being in the range of Peak Human to Low Superhuman, like many action movie or comic characters who are far more realistic, but have feats heading into the impossible-for-regular-people level. It does not actually refer to destroying a street.

@Azzy did this site/OBD even come up with the term "Street level"? I heard that Marvel used to use it a lot but I'm not sure.

I believe the term "Street level" or "Street tier" was originally a term to describe "low level" Superheroes and Supervillains like Batman, The Joker and so on. I'm almost certain that it predates the OBD.

But Azzy explained it better then I did.

@Azzy Alright. Thanks.

I vaguely recall old threads from the early days of Toonzone (early 2000s) discussing the older DCAU shows referring to Batman as a "Street tier" character, so I'm pretty certain it predates OBD.

INB4 Michael Wong invented the term.

I believe it's referring to someone who is able to easily handle himself or herself in a thick street brawl even while others are armed (i.e. the term Street Fighter).
