Statements vs Feats

If someone in a show or book says that they can do a specific feat but there are no similar feats from the other high tiers in the verse can the statement be considered an hyperbole.

For Example: The Whitebeard planet destruction statement from Sengoku but there are no similar feats from those of the same tier as him and the god tiers biggest feats being multi continental in sclae, or The Madara statement about him being able to cut all things in the universe but the highest feat in the verse highballed could be considered from Star to Solar system level.

Is the statement considered as bullshit and hyperbole or should it be considered because it was mentioned in multiple works like the LN’s, Anime, and Manga.

Should Statements be considered over feats?or should it be vice versa?

Statements are very case by case. Sometimes they're just as reliable as feats while their unreliable other times. Depends on the type of character saying it and what the specific details implies. Though other times, statements are meant to give context to feats. But usually statements from egotistical villains are prone to hyperboles unless they demonstrate them or if their statements are backed up by every single media out there and what not.

I was specifically arguing with a OP fan, so is the Whitebeard destroying the world a valid take for scaling?

As DDM said, the validity of statements vary case by case and at times they’re even necessary to give context for feats. But if they’re shown to directly contradict by the actual showings in the verse, said by a person that lacks credibility on the matter, or are exaggerated/hyperbolic, then they can be disregarded.

Also your example with Madara sounds like it’s saying that he can cut any material in the universe rather than he can literally cut a universe.
