Speed Question

Would we take a statement such as this literally, in terms of speed?

And what would be the default speed we assumed for it? Is there a general bullet speed? Since it cannot be calculated due to it being a novel and there generally being no description for the feat aside from "the character dodged".

There are typical ranges, but it depends on the firearm I believe.

For the statement, at most you could gather is that the spider was previously moving very fast and the way to describe that here is "like a bullet", similar to how "lightning fast" doesn't literally mean something moves at MHS speeds.

So no, I don't think you could use it directly for some impressive speed feat.
