Speed of Monsterverse Godzilla's atomic breath CRT

A calc interprets a passage from the GVK novelization to be referring to the movement speed of Godzilla's atomic breath. The statement is

He had seen Godzilla do this before. For seconds, for tens of seconds maybe, and always directed at an enemy. But now his enemy seemed to be the Earth itself, and he did not stop. He kept going, drilling toward the core of the planet.

The calc interpreted this passage as saying that it took 10 seconds for the beam to reach the Hollow Earth. The passage actually doesn't mean that at all.

He had seen Godzilla do this before. For seconds, for tens of seconds maybe, and always directed at an enemy.

This refers to the character, Mark Russell, having observed Godzilla using his breath before in the past, for a duration of up to tens of seconds, and always against an enemy such as the MUTOs and Ghidorah.

But now his enemy seemed to be the Earth itself, and he did not stop. He kept going, drilling toward the core of the planet.

This says that Godzilla, unlike all the times he used his breath before, is attacking the ground itself, not another kaiju enemy.

Nothing in the passage actually says anything about the speed of the breath, only its duration. The calc is based on a reading comprehension error, and I suggest that it be removed.

I guess one could argue Massively Hypersonic based on the fact that there was a lot of crust and mantle in the way of his beam, probably slowing it down a bit

Well the japanese scans and the other stuff mostly came from official Godzilla databooks made by Toho.

I hate to ruin it. But that quote seems to clearly indicate that it's some kind of radioactive flame that emits "Cherenkov light", which would be the radiation. Not that the beam is pure radiation.

Cherenkov radiation is essentially the blue glow of various radioactive substances, or in this case, the flame, which is why it's blue, because it's emitting Cherenkov radiation.
