Sound files for quotes

Thank you for the reply.

What do the rest of you think?

I really don't see how any of this is useful or beneficial to our profiles, they are there for the purpose of being viewed and read, not to listen to a random quote that anyone could search for on YouTube.

It's already hard enough to keep our 30,000 profiles in good shape. Listening to 30-second sound files all the way through just to make sure no one put in something improper at any given point is a complete waste of time.

It seems like its there for convenience
plus not every clip is online, nor conveys something that replaces the work we put into a profile, like the photos and gallery formats, it adds to it.

I suppose that this seems like a valid complaint.

I understand the complaint, but at the same time, it's not as if the sound files are absolutely necessary. They're simply a fun addition that don't really benefit or harm the profiles.

Though I can see how sifting through profiles to make sure there isn't anything improper can get annoying.

Yeah, that's why I'm neutral on them. I don't mind if people want to add them to their profiles, but I'm not going to be sifting through audio files to double-check them.

I doubt that many people will bother with them, so I really don't think it's gonna be that much effort.

Well, our new wiki management sound file suggestion thread is supposed to act as a safeguard for potential problems.

And to be fair, it's pretty similar to how we already manage profiles to avoid vandalism and such already, just now with the added bit of listening to any sound file present. In addition, it's also more difficult to add a vulgar sound file than it is to just click a big "Edit" button and type some gibberish.

I think that we should probably add an Editing Rules text regarding adding sound files to quotes as well though. A link to our new request thread should also be embedded in it.
