Yeah, unfortunately, concepts he created back for Archie are off limits for his IDW, so...

That depends. Was Ian Flynn the one that made Archie op? Or well at least he contributed? If he did then I do see him repeating this kind of writing. Who knows, maybe he will make IDWs iteration to be even stronger to give Ken the middle finger.

When did Archie Sonic start becoming beloved? Probably near the beginning, right? It's been around for 30 years after all. Was Ian responsible for the Echidna stuff?

So you mean he contributed by giving some of the most powerful feats for Sonic? Hopefully it coukd be reflected back in IDW. But 9 chapters in we already have Super Neo, and I don't really see him making a big impact here.

Since Enerjak was introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog Issue #35 in 1996, Ian Flynn wasn't responsible for the echidna stuff.

He actually did leave open the possibility of using the IDW comics to conclude the Pre-Super Genesis and Post-Super Genesis arcs.
